I was a bit late booking this Guest House but glad I did. It looks like a small cottage on the outside but a bit like the Tardis inside. Several double rooms that I could see and all well appointed. The room space we had was very generous. En-suite and the bed was very comfortable. We also ahd friends staying at the same time and their comments are very similar.
The host was very kind and considerate and was more thanprepared to accommodate our late comings and goings.
I ahve to say he's also a very good cook. The breakfast meal was ample and more if you wanted it. An unending supply of tea - which definitely gets my vote.
The en-suite was a wee bit tight but the shower more than made up for it.
As it's probably just over a hundred yards from a piece of the best (and uncrowded) beach I've seen in a long time I think I can say if we're in the area again, we'll definitely book here.

Many thanks for your comments, We have never thought our house as a Tardis before. It is an average a town house, that we renovated with a lot of thought and planning and advice from a great architect to make the very best use of the space we have and provide each room with its own en-suite. So perhaps that's why you thought it was like the Tardis. This would also account for the en-suite being a bit tight to ensure enough space in the bedrooms. I am very happy that you found Ian to be accommodating and a good cook, meaning you were able to enjoy the local supplied breakfast ingredients. I am also delighted that you are as impressed with the wonderful beaches as we are. They are amazing for visitors and wildlife too!!

We booked 3 of the rooms for a couple of nights to say goodbye to a dear friend. Ian was a marvelous host. The whole guest house was immaculate, rooms had everything you could want. Breakfast was run ship shape and the ingredients very fresh and very local. Highly recommended. Will be back

Stayed here 1 night - more than enough. Single room and I had difficulty with luggage up the stairs and the male owner said he couldn't help as his 'back had gone'. There are rules and regulation notices everywhere and the A4 one for no smoking in the single bedroom is far too big and unnessary. There's even a note on the wall near the toilet saying it will take some time to refill as it is a 'quiet' cistern for the comfort of guests! As soon as I turned the shower on the water just ran down the shower curtains onto the floor as they are too short. The sink is really tiny and had soap dispensers sited over it and a shelf, so to wash and clean your teeth was a dicey affair - no room at all. The 'towel' rail in the room came off when I touched it and the curtains were off at one end and far too thin therefore the room was not dark for sleeping. I felt decidedly unncomfortable in the place.
I parked at the back on the property, again you are told where you are allowed to park, but as there's no rear guest entrance this proved awkward for taking luggage in so I drove out and parked at the front of the building.
The only thing I asked for was well done bacon at breakfast, strictly regulated times and different at weekends, but that apparently was a problem as the bacon "has too much water in it"!! Needless to say it wasn't well done but the one slice of cold toast was burned black!! I had to scrape it to eat it and when I asked for another slice the burned black dust was noticed and I explained it was burnt - no apology and the second piece was ok but again cold.
I won't stay here again and I'm afraid can't recommend it.

Many thanks for taking the time to leave a review. Ian is sorry that you would have preferred frendlier emails. All initial contact emails do contain a e-signature which means you know with whom you are corresponding.Ian keeps his replies brief so that misunderstandings do not occur plus he is very uncomfortable with technology but he hopes that your face to face welcome will compensate for his IT shortcomings. We are happy that you we very comfortable and enjoyed the quality and wide breakfast selection. We have in the past offered tomatoes but they were seldom requested and perished before they were used thefore we focused on ensuring the best quality for the items that were regularly eaten. If we have prior requests food not usually supplied or special diets we try to accomodate wherever possible

we stayed here ages ago, I couldnt remember the name of the place but whilst searching for what is simply the best fish and chip shop in the UK (The Gallery) I stumbled across the place we stayed at. I personally need a couple of good pillows when I stay somewhere, here there were two very thin pillows and no extra ones in the wardrobe, breakfast was at a communal table which is not something I like. all in all a very average place to stay.

I stayed here with my partner and inlaws for one night last August.
When we first arrived the owners were nice- this was to change later.
The decor in this B&B is very tired, and there was a slight damp, murky smell in the foyer.
The room was clean, but the decor and furnishing very simple. My partner and I had a twin room, and one of the beds was very uncomfortable and very creaky. All this we can live with though, it was after all not too dear.
But the next morning at breakfast is when the hostess showed her true colours. The breakfast hours were very limited to start off with. My partner and I came down, had our cereal and they cooked our fried breakfasts. No problem. But my partners parents were only going to have some cereal, so 15 minutes before breakfast finished they hadn't come down yet. But that is when the hostess started taking away the milk and juice. We asked her to leave it out for my partner's parents, but she was very sour about this. She said something along the lines that breakfast finishes soon, and they need to clear away. In the end she did leave the leftover milk and juice (No WAY she was going to top it), but we heard her complaints through the kitchen door. My partners parents arrived 5 minutes later, and had to make do with what was there.
Usually the breakfast times are the serving times, but then you can sit and enjoy your breakfast and relax. It is after all a bed and breakfast, not a boarding school. I have never experienced that you have to vacate the breakfast room as soon as serving stops, but this was apparently the case here. Maybe it would have been a good idea to declare that beforehand then, or hey, even better, be a little serviceminded and let us enjoy our breakfast.
Needless to say we won't be returning.

There is no need to go to Lossiemouth anyway if you don't have to, a dingy little town lacking in both charm and amenities.

That we couldn't stay longer! What a lovely place to stay. The bedrooms were comfortable, tastefully decorated and had every thing we needed. Breakfast was a moment of sheer pleasure with lots of local produce, home-made jams and yoghurts, not to mention excellent coffee. We were particularly impressed by the REAL gluten-free options (and not just free of gluten-containing ingredients. We also appreciated the owners' ecologically oriented approach to B&B. Full marks on all points!

I think it's safe to say we'll be back for a longer stay in the not-too-distant future.

One word - excellent stay.
We 3 men from South Germany were on a trip to see some distilleries, Inverness and Loch Ness. Ceilidh was our home for 4 nights.
Exactly nothing to complain. Nice breakfast, good sleep. Quit, only sea-gulls yealing no problem. Nice an cosy rooms. Heather an Ian always made us to feel good.
Would have wished to extend the stay but business was calling.
Hope to be able to come back and highly recommend Ceilidh for a stay.
Thank you Heather and Ian and all the best to you.
Axel, Rolf and Dieter

A great place to stay as it's very comfortable and so near the bus route to and from Elgin. I would have liked more friendly emails when I asked questions before booking......addressing me by name and mentioning who the email was from........but when we arrived the personal touch was welcoming and informative. I always thought the full breakfast included tomatoes and mushrooms but couldn't complain as there was a great choice of starters and the cooked meal was well done. Have just had a very pleasant stay.
Thanks,
Ian

We had two rooms both of which were very clean and comfortable. Good showers with nice towels. Even fresh milk provided. Easy parking either on the road immediately out front or in the back. Breakfast was well cooked and presented in nice surroundings. Good value for money.
