A warm welcome awaits you at this family run hotel in Lossiemouth. A great relaxed family friendly atmosphere exists at this hotel and is frequented by many returning guests and locals alike. The breathtaking view from the front of hotel overlooks the Moray Firth and beyond to the Cromarty Firth and to the hills of Caithness. The hotel is directly opposite the ancient Moray Golf Club, and is ideally situated for exploring the Coastal, Castle or Whisky trail, as well as being well situated for visiting the cities of Inverness and Aberdeen and surrounding area. The Stotfield Hotel has recently undergone a refreshing transformation of many of its bedrooms and also the ground floor guest area. However, this historic hotel retains many of its original character and features from 1895, including the fantastic sweeping staircase and period revolving front door. During your stay you can enjoy free access to high speed wireless broadband throughout the hotels public areas, free car parking (limited spaces available, ample on street parking adjacent to the hotel) but most of all comfortable and relaxed surroundings.

Beautiful building, room decor and furnishings a bit dated but the hotel is spotlessly clean and incredibly comfortable. The view from the window is straight over the golf course and beach, just beautiful! The breakfast was perfect- beautifully cooked, warm and tasty with a fair selection. Dinner was excellent and very good value. However the staff are the jewel in the crown, Aida was a joy and made our stay extra special.

First time staying at the Stotfield, but likely the last. On arrival the parking is ideal, however not plentiful, meaning having to park some way along an already busy road. Not a major issue though. On arrival the reception was unmanned, but we could hear someone in the back referring to a “pain in the f****** arse” and laughing. They mentioned something about a booking so assume it was a guest. Not the kind of professional service I’d expect to see in any hotel. Staff member in question was female mid-30s and didn’t seem in the slightest bit bothered that we’d heard her conversation. Some staff training certainly required. Shocked to find that there was no lift. We had to carry our bags up several flights of stairs and weren’t offered any assistance which we thought was poor. Our room was clean but quite basic. Bathroom could’ve been in a better shape as there were several grey marks along the side of the bath. Easy enough for us to wipe off, however didn’t give the best impression. Room was also very cold at night. Didn’t seem to be a problem with the heating so maybe a design issue that needs addressing? We enjoyed our breakfast which was easily the highlight of our stay. Really wonderful food and plenty options. In general the hotel needs a good revamp. It looks quite tired and not the most inviting. Staff in breakfast dining room were fine, but reception area certainly need some training. To pay good money then to be badmouthed in front of other guests is frankly not acceptable. Will likely look for alternative accommodation when we next visit.

Bad : Toilet seats loose even after changing rooms , both the rooms I had loose toilet seat need to check and secure. Im sure they will after reading this. Only mentioning for safety reasons. Ugly : Some parts of the rooms need a refurb but comfortable and warm. Some rooms have been upgraded but in some cases the workmanship isnt good. Functional clean and does what it says on the tin though. Cosy in parts. The feature revolving door can be a nuisance if you are carryong lots of cases or bags. Good: Service is beyond excellent and staff are just lovely scottish people and why its good to go spend money and time there because the service makes all the difference. Price - For where it is , it is excellent can see the typhoons (fighter jets) coming in from the seaview windows. So if you're into plane watching its an excellent view. Would I stay here again? Absolutely would. Food in the restaurant was fair to good but I have eaten at some top places so cant compare with 3 Star michellin and it doesn't try to be. Decent breakfast buffet. Staff - first class. They are very professional and handle everything very professionally.

I recently stayed with my family here for one night as part of a short break across the Moray Firth. It’s perfectly placed to enjoy the beautiful beaches and harbour as well as local golf. Also great if (like me) you love watching the RAF jets come and go from the nearby base. The hotel is classic old style. You will find tired aspects such as certain fixtures and fittings and the bathroom needs a revamp. That said the staff are very pleasant, good food and a friendly atmosphere. I would recommend it as a comfortable, very good value for money, stay in Lossiemouth. Parking is a bit busy out front but easy to find street parking. Happy with our stay.

We were really impressed by this hotel and felt that some grander hotels could learn a lot from this hotel. We were enthusiastically ŵelcomed when we arrived at the hotel. The lady on reception was very friendly, explained everything and even worked to find us a table in the already fully booked hotel restaurant. The room was good, with a reasonable amount of space. The bathroom felt a little squeezed into the room, but it was manageable. The room was spotlessly clean, as was the bathroom. Both were a little dated. The tea and coffee making facilities were properly stocked. The bathroom was a little squashed, but manageable. The facilities were spotlessly clean and there was plenty of hot water. The dining room was pleasant enough, but again a little dated. The menu is varied, and everything listed on the menu was available. The staff were very friendly, professional and consiensious. The food was good, tasty, well presented and well cooked. Breakfast was a little on the poor side. There was not a great choice, but it was adequate. The hot food buffet was kept well stocked with freshly cooked food and there were never excessive amounts of hot food left out, meaning that the food remained fresh and hot. This is a budget hotel, but does it very well. A lot of five star hotels could benefit from the same attitude that the staff at this hotel had and the same standards that this hotel had for cleanliness. It is not pretentious - it does what it says and it does it well.

I’ve given this place 3 points - clean, lovely sea view and I slept well. That’s where the positivity ends I’m afraid. I was given a top room floor, which was fine for me as I’m able enough to get my overnight bag up. I was happy with the corner room, which was spacious, had three windows so lots of natural light and I loved the sea views. I found the room itself to be furnished ok for the type of hotel and price range it’s in. However, the bathroom facilities are in desperate need of update. I’ve stayed in typical coach trip budget value hotels many times so I think I have realistic expectations of accommodation at this level. And I’m really surprised the bathrooms have been left in this condition for this long without any investment. I see others were happy with breakfast but I was really disappointed. Considering they cater for tourists, some thought into providing a more Scottish type breakfast such as square sausage, black pudding, potato scone? I could only see fried egg as the only egg option, I’m not sure if they would have done scrambled egg if I’d asked for it. I had a bit of links sausage which was very poor quality. The main dining area and bar/lobby seating area all appear to be reasonably good condition and welcoming, they are obviously looking to appeal to evening diners as there’s not many options in the area (I did eat my dinner down at the harbour). I think if they started to make some changes to the accommodation (start with the bathrooms!) and breakfast offering (don’t be afraid to add on a few £’s and offer something much nicer) this could be a wonderful hotel, it’s a lovely building with fabulous sea views.

Positives-clean towels, clean bedding and decent breakfast. Negatives:- 1) Mouldy and not clean bathroom. 2) The room is 1 star 3) Zero shower gel in container (what do the maids actually do - it’s not seeing to it cleaning bathroom). 4) Stinking ancient bath with shower curtain. Grouting looks like it was done by Stevie Wonder / Ray Charles. I was not expecting 4 star after all what can you expect for 68 pounds but this is really really poor establishment rating a 1 star. No reception people when leaving for a reason. What possible answer coukd you say when they ask how was your stay “totally poor and no optimism for improvement”. Want better than nice staff who must be embarrassed.

We have just spent 5 wonderful nights at The Stotfield Hotel where our Grandson and his new wife had their wedding reception The rooms were clean , bed very comfortable and we had an awesome view of the Moray Firth The staff were excellent, so friendly and helpful and certainly went above and beyond to make the wedding day perfect. Special mention to Billy who made everything run smoothly , nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was great, all you can eat Evening meals also good quality If you’re looking to stay up this way look no further than the Stotfield They’ll certainly look after you !

They hotel location is perfect in Lossiemouth overlooking the sea, however the picture shows on each site is the gold hotel across the road u actually have to cross road to go over to gold hotel or cross to beach, entry to hotel is nice bit noticed on entry the glass on doors etc very dirty Check in was very welcoming and very quick room was ready before check in time. We had double room with sea view, bed was clean and could tell room had been hoovered with fresh towels However the skirting boards, window cills and toilet sink and mirror was dirty Very dated which I knew before going but all very dated and horrible cold feel about it Provided cups and tea coffee making facilities in room Shower gel empty and toilet roll was in a holder like public toilets Nice view nice staff and breakfast was lovely

We stayed here for two nights as a family of two adults and a 4 yo while visiting friends. It was a busy period as there was some sort of golf tournament at the golf club opposite which did mean parking on site was an issue but the west beach car park is a short walk away and we also managed to park on the street close to the hotel. The hotel is old and dated in some places and the electric showers in the bathrooms lack the pressure of a power shower. But overall the room was clean, the beds comfortable and would definitely stay again if in the area. Found it great value at around £100 per night for three people including breakfast the next cheapest I could find locally on the same dates was a Travelodge in Elgin at £75 per night with no breakfast.
