Nestled on a charming beachfront, Seamill Hydro offers guests stunning views and convenient beach access, which are frequently celebrated by travelers. Despite its picturesque location, the hotel's value is often questioned, with guests feeling the room rates and services don't align with their cost. While many commend the cleanliness and certain modern amenities, opinions on room quality are divided, with some enjoying the space and others pointing out datedness and comfort issues.
The hotel's amenities and service also receive varied feedback, ranging from appreciation for the views and friendliness to criticism of the pool temperature and sporadic service efficiency. The atmosphere strikes a balance, with some areas providing a modern and inviting ambiance, while others appear less vibrant.

Booked through my hotel breaks and paid £99 for a double room in the courtyard with breakfast included, it was a birthday getaway with my best friend and when hotel found this out they upgraded us to a sea view which was greatly appreciated. The view was out of this world, i lost my mum 3 weeks ago and i wanted a nice relaxing overnight with a lovely view and somewhere we could go for a walk and this hotel was perfect for that.
The reception staff were warm friendly and chatty. The room was warm cosey and spacious. There was a walk in shower and also a bath, shampoo, shower gel, hand soap etc was lovely, comfy 2 seater couch next to the window, tv, double bed, tea and coffee available and a fridge which was defect for our Prosecco.
We had some food in the Aura Bar, which was walk in didn’t need to book it which suited us, my friend and i ordered a cocktail each, me a French martini which one of the best I’ve ever had. We ordered food, me a highland burger and my friend fish and chips, great quick service and the waiter could not do enough for us, lovely and great service. The food was delicious, not one bad thing we had to say. Drinks and food absolutely amazing then dessert mines was shortbread and ice cream and as it was my birthday they wrote happy birthday on the plate which i thought was a nice touch. My friend had ordered chocolate brownie which she assumed would be a small piece with ice cream but it was huge, she said it was amazing and looked great. Food presentation was perfect for main and for dessert. For once my life there is nothing negative to say. I personally love 1 hr 20 mins away but I’m already looking at returning with my husband as the service was that good.
Lastly the spa, there’s a big pool, sauna steam room. The only things did hope had been different was the jacuzzi part of the pool, wish it had been warmer. Also would be nice to have robes and slippers in your room so that you could walk to spa and back to your room and not have to get dried and changed. I did ask for a robe and i got one but id asked for a bigger one as i am plus size and got one but it didn’t really fit, it was nice though that they did give me one when i asked. Would be good if they had robes for all different shapes and sizes.
Overall though i cannot wait to return, it was beautiful even outside with all the Christmas lights lot and throughout the hotel all the festive touches. The spa situation wouldn’t be enough to put me off returning that’s why i gave 5 out of 5.
Thank you for an amazing stay.

I've stayed at 3 different RAD Group hotels, and all have been amazing. The Seamill Hydro didn't let us down. It is nicely presented internally and has the bonus of overlooking the sea. The staff are professional, friendly and attentive. Rooms were clean, of decent proportions and tastefully decorated. The en-suite had a walk-in shower with glass screen and wood effect acoustic panelling. An illuminated mirror and high-end 'Arran Aromatics' shower gels, shampoos and moisturisers, a local company which is nice. We made use of the leisure facilities (pool and steam room) before check-in. I booked a DBB rate and bought lunch separately. Lunch wasn't the cheapest, but all food was tasteful and service was attentive.
We did find the bedroom very hot which was why the sleep rate got a 4, but there was probably a TRV on the radiator, we chose to kick the covers off and open the window a little rather than faff about with the radiator in the middle of the night.
There was a wedding reception being held the night we stayed. We weren't part of this and it did not interfere in any way with our stay, in fact we commented that it was a stunning setting for one with the venue overlooking the sea.
There's not much in the local town, but it's not too far to drive to Largs, Glasgow or to take the ferry to explore Arran.

Would recommend this hotel/spa to family and friends, the staff were very friendly and accommodating. From booking in to checking out they couldn't have been more helpful. House keeping were great gave extra supplies when asked.
The bedroom and living area was spacious and clean we booked for bed and breakfast, we had a double bed and sofa bed there was plenty seating 2 tables with chairs in the seating area and a good sized sofa/sofa bed and table in the middle of the room. We had a shower and bath, the shower flow was great and it was spacious. Tea and coffee and biscuits were supplied also herbal teas.
The pool sauna and steam room were free to use with the room, we could continued to use them after we checked out. Everything we needed were provided shampoo conditioner shower gel towels hair driers and hair straightener's. It was spotless. Also had use of the gym which i never got round too.
We were lucky and had brilliant weather had a few walks on the beach. Met a few of the locals out walking their dogs they stopped and chatted with us. Everyone we met were so friendly.
Now the restaurants the breakfast was in the aura restaurant the choice was great from fresh fruit plenty of choice , pastries to hot breakfasts we had the fry-up, smoked salmon with scrabbled eggs, poached smoked haddock with poached eggs, i couldn't've faulted it, had a good choice of cereals also.
We had most of our meals in the orangery restaurant Afternoon tea which was delicious well worth the money. The menu was great only tried a few things and came away more than satisfied. The staff were so helpful. The prices were good too i thought. and portions were a good size you get your moneys worth if not more. I enjoyed the meals so much i would take the hour and a half drive to sample more of it.
I honestly cant think of any faults i cant wait to go back for anther break next year..

My husband and I booked this hotel for 3 nights. There was ample parking when we arrived, and the entrance was tastefully decorated with Christmas decorations. Our room was outside the hotel, and the decor and furniture was dark and gloomy. We liked the layout with a separate sitting area. The bed was comfortable enough, but not the bed settee. The suite looked clean, apart from the radiator in the bathroom which was full of dust. The squeaky floorboards were very annoying, and we would have asked for another room, but had already unpacked. The staff were all very friendly and attentive. We were not impressed by the service and some of the food in the Orangery restaurant. We waited 40 minutes for our starter, and we couldn't eat the melon as it was hard, and the chips were very poor. Another 30 minutes passed before we got the main course. We enjoyed visiting the area, but quite disappointed overall.

Stayed in their Glen Rosa (honeymoon suite) as part of an offer they were doing in the winter months. Despite it being cheaper than the usual price, it was still a fair bit of money and personally would not recommend it. Despite the room itself being large and well-decorated, there were no robes (despite having a nice big bath), no bottles of water, no nespresso machine as advertised (only instant coffee sachets) and the touch screen audio control did not work. It has a fridge and large wine holder, but for anyone who stayed in this room as part of their wedding package and expecting the same amenities, please read the details on their page as it no longer includes a stocked minibar. I was prepared for this (though disappointed not to get anything, not even bottled water!) and brought out own stuff, however there were no glasses, bottle openers or anything for us to actually enjoy the drinks we brough for the minifridge.
It might seem like such trivial things, for the amount we paid, it did not match what we expected. Things like robes and bottled water are things we have had in standard rooms in other hotels in the past, nevermind their best suite!
Dinner in the Orangery was nice and server pleasant, though we had to chase up our drinks that we seen just sitting at the bar for 10 minutes on 2 occasions.
Breakfast was nice enough, though I think the continental selection wasn't as good as previous visits.

One of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in and I have traveled far and wide usually in Four seasons. The room is spotless and comfortable with attention to so many details - bottled water, cammomile tea, plenty of lighting and sockets, best tv channels, kettle, extremely cosy comfy bed and pillows. Very stylish, chic, and beautifully decortaed - think scandinavian meets MOMA stle - minimalist and luxurious. The oatmilk lattes are perfect and room service on the dot. I was vv impressed with the service - nothing is too much and the staff are extremely lovely and kind. Loved the view from my window of the beach sea and the Isle of arran. Tumble out of bed and nto the beach right there and have a lovely walk to portencross castle! Oh and the gym is to die for with those goegrous views over the sea while you use the treadmill - pool sauna steam room - this place is heaven. My second time here and I want to live here. I never write reviews and this is the first one ever as i was so impressed with this understated elegant comfortable gem of a find. Will be back asap.

We visited hotel for a family party and stayed in a courtyard room which was overpriced and outdated - in addition, the double bed was small, with a hard uncomfortable mattress and cheap hard pillows. For the price charged for the room you would think the owners of the hotel could afford to provide a decent mattress and comfy pillows at least - Premier Inn can certainly do it, they provide a much better sleep experience for a fraction of the price!! The breakfast too was sub par - had obviously been cooked ages before and can I advise simply putting Luke warm food on a hot plate does not count as a ‘cooked breakfast’. All in all I would not stay there again, certainly not in the tired and outdated courtyard rooms with their paper thin walls - we could hear our neighbours quite clearly in the room next door

I have just returned from an overnight stay at Seamill Hydro. We had a lovely room with a sea view and my daughters enjoyed their spa treatments. However a few things let this hotel down badly. The room was very warm, under the eaves on the top floor, yet heavy winter duvets were on the beds. This is late May . The pool was very cold and full of children staying at the hotel and from outside as members of the leisure club. I think there should be adults only times but unless they increased the temperature of pool I wouldn't use it anyway. The jacuzzi was the same cold temperature as the pool. Now to the real biggie, the food! We had dinner in the Orangery restaurant. My daughters ordered the roast beef which was just ok. I had fish and chips which was sub par to say the least. I normally would have complained but didn't want to cause a fuss as it was a celebration meal for my daughters 30th birthday. The food was way overpriced but assume the hotel can get away with it because of the fantastic sea view. When we wanted to get the bill there was no staff member in the restaurant other than the person at a bar. My daughter eventually went up to the bar and paid. This meal cost £113 and really was not worth the money. I had stayed here before and remembered the breakfast was excellent so was really looking forward to it. I ordered the veggie breakfast. It was very, very poor quality. It was meant to be cooked from order but I got the feeling everything had been lying under hot plates for quite some time. The bread was the cheapest supermarket bread and the pastry I had was frozen in the middle. My daughters had bacon which they said was not very nice either. We had to ask a passing waiter to take our plates away. He told us they were short staffed. As much as I can sympathise with the individual staff , as guests that is not our concern. This is the reason we would not return to this hotel. I believe it has been taken over by a chain hotel group and if this is the standard of the group its a real shame, as hotel is lovely in a beautiful location.

Last minute overnight with myself and two teen boys
Hotel man areas and staff all lovely
1 bedroom family room in courtyard very outdated Orange and brown wood colour scheme, TV tuned and locked to channels 1 to 5 and a few kids channels Even though a basic smart TV no apps installed asked at reception but TVs locked down Mattrsses ok; furniture chipped, carpets stained, no plug sockets next to beds, they had actually have been off. Toiletries nice.
Swimming fab would probably go back for this alone ( if he couod get a deal/ offer)
Ate in the bar, not convinced it was great; it was ok but for the price would try local restaurants in future
Breakfast again ok, continental okish, cooked breakfast the same it is included in the price so it is what it is
In short, nice enough not as nice as it's payday Needs a good bit of renovation work
Oh and woman in gift shop very friendly.

Hotel looks lovely on arrival however it’s not as it seems. Our bedroom was very dated and although appeared clean enough most of the furniture was so old it was scratched or stained and just not what is expected for an alleged 4 star hotel. We had a lovely view looking out to sea but our room was cold dark and dismal. On the first night we ate in the Aura bar/restaurant and the food was quite nice however there was no atmosphere or music. Many of the seats had damaged upholstery which wasn’t nice at all in the main bar. The second night we ate in the Orangery, the food was delicious if a little overpriced for the portion size but the service was atrocious! The loss of income by being unable to find anyone to take an order is shocking! Took more than 30 minutes for a drink to arrive which was only after I asked where it was. Think this hotel is living on its previous reputation. I certainly wouldn’t rush back. Very disappointed

We have stayed there twice and on each occasion were upgraded to firstly the Bridal Suite and then to the Honeymoon suite. Excellent quality rooms both with lovely sea views of the Firth of Clyde and the Isle of Arran.Nice Beach just outside and excellent service from the hotel staff. Really good food as well.
