My boyfriend and I stayed here recently, and although the owner is nice and the house was once beautiful - it really needs a good update. It didn't feel like a B&B, but more like your aunt's house who you don't pay to stay with. The bed was VERY small, so we asked for a cot, which they didn't have....

Some notes i made whilst staying, i lost some of the points: Hard to find. Not sign posted well. Small driveway advertised as car park. Smell on arrival in the home was awful, greeted by an old woman with stains on her top. Stunning views from the room Advertised as a double room (drummond suit) but its not. Smaller than...

We stayed at the Carlton B&B for three nights in August. It's a pretty 19th century house filled with period decorations and has a beautiful sea view across to Arran. Avril is a friendly and generous host - the breakfasts were excellent and she was able to tell us about a wide range of places to visit around Ayrshire or...

The Carlton B&B is a time trip to a lost era, The Carlton Seamill is a gem the accommodation is both quaint and unique, A trip back in time within a quality old Building with an unchanged feel to it from a bygone era. Was looking to visit Hunterston Castle and found Carlton Seamill. The host was kind enough to help me plan out some of my time in Scotland and even drove me to the Hunterston Castle. She made sure I was able to catch the train okay too. Scottish hospitality amazes me. The house has direct beach access as well.

Stayed at Carklon Seamill again and found the welcome as warm and genuine as ever. Extremely comfortable room and a charming hostess. Avril had plenty of recommendations for superb places to visit in the area. Stunning views of Arran and the seaside out of the bedroom windows; what a fantastic place to stay.

we arrived on a typical rainy wind swept Scottish night, beautiful building, totally unspoiled as was the inside, we were given the warmest of welcomes on our arrival, and shown to a warm cozy room, bursting with character, it had everything that an old Victorian house should , even the shutters, loveliest touch of all was the snuggly warm electric...

Unexpectedly found myself staying here thanks to the Seamill Hydro managing to cancel my reservation for reasons passing understanding. I thus turned up with minimal notice but felt welcome from the moment Avril opened the door. My room was eclectic - quite busy with furnishings and full of a myriad of books - but importantly quiet and comfortable. I would...

Stayed at this B&B for one night while attending an event and I very much enjoyed my stay. Reading all these negative reviews I am surprised that other people could have such a different experience from me. I found the room to be clean, the house full of character and the breakfast to be very tasty! Avril the host was...

We arrived late afternoon and were greeted by the host who was very nice but the smell as you entered the house was awful. A combination of, we thought, urine and sweat. It was deeply unpleasant. It's such a pity as the house has massive potential and is situated in a lovely area. Needs substantial work and a good deep...
