We had such a fabulous week staying in the Cottage. The accommodation was everything you could ask for - plus home-made pizza, bread and breakfast pastries baked on site (including a pizza restaurant- but make sure you book in advance). The Cottage was a short walk from a beautiful beach (swam with seals!!) and an easy driving distance from the big visitor attractions like Maes Howe. Phillipa and Ian were wonderful hosts and we cannot recommend Eviedale Cottages highly enough.

My daughter and I stayed a week at Eviedale, and loved it so much that we want to return for a month. Philippa and Ian are the most friendly and welcoming hosts, and they were always available to answer questions about anything. The Lodge was wonderful, cozy, and had everything we needed. Eviedale is remote enough to be very peaceful, is close to some lovely walks to Broch of Gurness, Eynhallow Sound, and more, but is close to the many historic sites and craft people we visited. And the food! Eviedale Bistro and Bakehouse has the best pizza and baked goods available in the Bistro and honesty shop. We thoroughly enjoyed everything we had there. We highly recommend Eviedale Cottages for a lovely stay in Orkney!

The location of the Cottage and it's comforts was just right for what we wanted: easy to access all the high points of mainland and other islands. The Evie Beach just down the lane, is just amazing and we walked there several times. The approach to looking after the environment with composting, lower impact living and recycling worked for us. Bakehouse great for produce. Also Local store, Mistra, 5 minutes walk away is building it's provisions and had most of what we needed including generous help with a food intolerance. Nearby Tingwall ferry to Rousay Island where we hired bikes which was great - (pre book though). (Such fantastic experiences as the Orkneys comes low cost to the visiting walker but not those who live there and for us and others who wanted to be able to contribute some support to local traders + hospitality, when we could, it suited us. ) We stayed a week and would have stayed longer if we could. Thanks to Philippa and Ian and their warm welcome

Great bakery everything from bread, pastries to pizzas are delicious. Very easy to cook the pizza at home and would recommend the sausage rolls too. Great friendly service and honesty box makes it quick and easy if you are in a hurry and just passing by. Certainly a great place to visit particularly if you are in holiday as having lots of good food is allowed.

The Lodge at Eviedale had everything we needed with an added bonus of delicious sour dough pizzas the evening we arrived. It is in a great location, making it easy to explore the island. We loved the massive, comfy bed and walk in shower. Phillipa was a lovely host. The pain au chocolat made by Ian were incredible. We loved our stay.

We had a brilliant week here in July. The cottage is comfy and cosy and has everything you need for a home from home break. Hosts Phillippa and Ian are friendly and helpful - and do the most AMAZING pizza and bakeries! They also have lots of good information and tips on the Island and it’s attractions- certainly helped us plan and book ahead to see the sights- thanks! The beach at Evie is just perfect! As are most Orkney beaches! If the sea wasn’t freezing you would swear you were in the Caribbean! What a beautiful magical island! Lots to do and see and friendly and helpful locals! Two teenagers enjoyed the history and Historic Scotland Guides were fab! Orkney is also full of beautiful jewellers and the creative trail is great. Eateries abound- Shelia Fleet Kirk inn, Birsay Tearooms and Smithfield hotel all great! Favourite view is coming over the road from Dounby to Evie- stunning views of the beach from the hill! In the summer book ahead as very busy with cruise ship tourists. Had a fantastic time and the scenery was stunning. Tempted not to put review on to keep this lovely cottage to ourselves but really is too good not to share! We will be back! Thanks Phillippa and Ian!

A huge thank you to Phillipa and Ian for our wonderful two weeks stay in The Lodge. We arrived late evening and the property was so warm and so beautifully welcoming, with everything that we could need. We love our trips to Orkney and the Lodge was a perfect base for visiting anywhere on the island. The beautiful, local Aikerness beach is just 15 minutes walk away and a great walk for spotting wildlife. Just a short walk on from there is the Broch of Gurness. Phillipa and Ian are delightful hosts and, as if that weren’t enough, they run THE most delicious artisan bakery … right next door! We couldn’t resist the delicious range of freshly baked sourdough breads, croissants, cakes and pizzas!

Wonderful week away for our first time in Orkney. Philippa and Ian were wonderful hosts. The Lodge was well kitted out and our 3 kids loved it. We all loved the Bakehouse produce, in particular the sourdough pizzas and freshly baked cruffins. Great base for exploring Orkney, eg Evie Sands beach just 10 min walk, excellent play park less than 5 mins drive, Broch of Gurness is a very local must visit. Thanks so much Philippa and Ian.

Thoroughly enjoyed our five night stay at Eviedale. Spacious, well-kitted out and cosy tent in a sheltered spot. Excellent, spick and span toilet and shower facilities. Warm welcome and delicious stone baked pizza, sourdough bread and oatcakes. A great spot for exploring West Mainland and beyond. Lovely beach and walks close at hand. Thank-you Phillipa for your warm welcome, we hope to return.
