Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We have just returned from an amazing trip to Orkney where we stayed 3 nights at Asgard. If you are after modern clean lines or a high tech facility this is not the place for you. Asgard is a warm, welcoming and homely place where Dawn and Harold have thought of everything to make you feel at ease. My room (4)was a good size, great shower, comfy bed, cleaned daily. Breakfast was cooked as they chatted with you, I had my first kedgeree there, thanks Dawn. There was a separate lounge we could use, milk and ice were on hand in the hall. Dawn and Harold open their home to you with its quirky Christmas goods and personal nik naks filling common areas. The dogs were no problem and added to the quirky atmosphere. Dawn and Harold were, to me, perfect hosts. I loved it there and would not hesitate to book another stay.

A great place to stay with really friendly owners, Dawn and Harrald. The room and en-suite bathroom was clean and a good size as was the breakfast cooked right in front of me in their large kitchen/diner area - plenty to choose from too! A short distance away from the ferry terminal (10 minute stroll) and close to co-op shops. They do have dogs (quite a few) but although they are sometimes noisy, they are VERY well behaved and disciplined and don't bother the guests in any way. Limited parking on their private driveway but plenty of places nearby to park if needed. easy to chat with, a lovely homely house and definitely a place to stay if you're in Stromness (although Stomness itself needs a bit of an injection of some evening life!)

I have just stayed for three nights and had an excellent experience. My room was comfy, well equipped with a great shower, breakfast delicious and my hosts Dawn and Harold could not have been more welcoming and helpful. I injured my leg on my final day and they kindly offered to drive me to the airport. I would definitely stay again.

Smells of dog, no WiFi in room 4, the host seemed not to want Americans even after I mentioned I’d just finished a quarantine on an island population 490 and voluntarily quarantine in every country I go because I’m a responsible human being. I say that because I felt I was treated like a diseased animal. I booked 3 days and stayed 15 hours. That should tell you all you need to know.

Very good accomodation, owners very friendly, breakfast more than ample with a lot of home made preserves. Decking round the house to the door is VERY slippery when wet. Twin bedroom does not have an on suite as advertised on Booking.Com. That said the shower room is right at the bedroom door and is superb. 5min walk to the harbour and town centre. Bedroom was very warm with plenty of heaters.

Great B&B ,right in the heart off Stomness, walk away from all amenities, lovely inside and spotlessly clean, rooms are modern inside and bathrooms are fab.The rooms have every thing you need, hairdryer, iron, coffee making facilities and more ,I couldn’t fault this place and would stay again, Dawn the owner is great ,very friendly and kept me updated on ferry times because of storm Ciara which was greatly appreciated.

I found them to be very unfriendly (almost comically so) and as far from welcoming as possible. Your mileage may vary, but I'd sleep on the street before I stayed there again. Seriously...there are other options. Choose any one of them.

My wife Leslie and I stayed here for six nights at the end of August, and we couldn’t have been happier with our accommodations. Our room was lovely and comfortable (comfy bed and excellent shower), and the breakfasts were hearty and delicious. Dawn and Harold were lovely and solicitous hosts. We especially enjoyed meeting their Schnauzer puppies (though if you’re not into dogs, don’t worry -- they won’t be foisted upon you!). This B&B was a great base for exploring Orkney each day and a welcoming place to return to each evening.

I can not recommend more highly this wonderful accommodation to anyone visiting Stromness. Dawn has worked very hard to make all her guest feel very welcome what is special is the small touches in the rooms, ear plugs and even glasses cleaner in the bathrooms to name a couple. The breakfast were special locally sourced food home made conserves and all cooked fresh each day. If you stay you will leave relaxed and maybe just a little heavier

We enjoyed our stay so much. Breakfast was delicious and abundant. The bedroom and bathroom were spacious and spotless. The location is convenient to everything. The hosts are knowledgeable about the area and happy to help if needed. Will definitely stay there again.
