Really we can recommend The Orkney. We stayed in Stromness Hotel and travelled around in Orkney for some days to historical places, and to Kirkwall. Very interesting to visit and listen to history which connect the Scottish people to us in Norway.

Spent two nights here and had a great experience. Right on the harbour - always something to see in a working harbour - fishing boats, ferries etc. The staff here are excellent - friendly, helpful and professional. Breakfast was superb - freshly prepared and as much as anyone could possibly want. My whole Orkney experience was terrific and I would love to go back and spend more time there and I would certainly stay at the Stromness Hotel again.

The room I was in was extremely spacious, as was the toilet/shower area. All I would say is that the decor was a little dated which made it feel a little, neglected is too strong a word, so I'll say underkept. As the hotel is on a hill there are great views from the windows. There were the usual amenities - kettle, ironing board, television, etc. The bed was comfortable which is always good! There was a bar and a restaurant however I didn't use these. The menu for the restaurant wasn't to my taste - a lot of fish dishes, however this is common across restaurants in the area. The 'main street' is a nice little walk with plenty of crafts/gift shops, galleries, etc. Overall a nice hotel to stay in, with a decent price, in a lovely location.

The Stromness Hotel is as charming as it gets!!! The throw back to an earlier time is endearing. I loved the decor, the amenities, the hotel residents dining room, which provided delicious breakfasts and the public dining room, which served marvelous meals. The staff was so delightful and warm and accommodating. This hotel is definitely special.
