The hotel is an imposing building sitting just back from the harbour complex - ideal location if you are arriving or departing on the "Hamnavoe" from/to Scrabster. The reception staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. The rooms are large, comfortable and well equipped. Dining in the hotel is an absolute pleasure - the food is excellent - especially the local...

I have spent the last 14 days or so in the best hotel in the finest town in the islands. Not only was the food of the highest quality, the service excelled. Staff attention to the needs of guests was great as was their standard of service. The personal touch, coupled with traditional Orcadian hospitality make this a special place....

Wow - a spacious, stylish gem of a place, unpolluted by the chipboard and flatpack nightmare that is the usual modern stopover! Here you get the full charm of a traditional hotel, but with everything well-maintained and clean. Friendly staff, themselves also full of character. The building is full of delightful details and original features. Great old-style furniture that you...

What a variety, from the seafood and soup starters to amazing meats beautifully tender, then to the sweet trolley, oh my goodness, what can I say .....delicious, well worth every penny. An added bonus is that their was a pensioners rate.

We had a lovely room No.3 plenty room and fantastic view over the harbour, good food and good staff. Very convenient to Northlink ferry, just a short walk and in centre of town. We will be back sometime.

Had a meal in here September weekend, food was ok but hotel was very old fashioned inside and tired looking ,staff where very nice and helpful in the restaurant upstairs but the bar staff in the bar down stairs where hopeless ,we had to clear our own tables off glasses numerous times and if the bar man was to smile...

I stayed here as part of a walking group. Yes, the hotel is old (1902) but it was clean, and I loved the high ceilings, broad corridors and sweeping staircases. If you like modern, soulless, could-be-anywhere-in-the-world hotels it's probably not for you. If you like a place with character, reflecting its surroundings, then you might enjoy the atmosphere of the...

I almost walked back out upon seeing the interior of this hotel, but with no place else to stay that wasn't an option. The exterior is stunning, and the public rooms are warm and cozy, but the private rooms are woefully outdated and the mid-20th century decor is completely out of sync with the rest of the structure. Our bathroom...

The hotel is an interesting old building that looks its age. There was a pervasive odor of mold. We had a room in the front of the hotel with a great view of the harbour, but also above the hotel's bar that had a loud brawl our first night. The rooms were small, beds uncomfortable and the bathrooms decidedly from...

Stayed here in August 2016, overall very tired and in need of refurbishment urgently. Breakfast was good but again the hotel needs new in all areas. Rooms and bathrooms look to be at least 20 years old
