Braeswick B&B provides comfort, relaxation, stunning views and a friendly atmosphere, at the south end of the beautiful island of Sanday. Braeswick B&B offers high standards of accommodation. We are just 2 miles from the ferry terminal and 5 miles from the airport. All rooms are en-suite with a powerful shower and toiletries supplied as standard. One room is a twin or Super king and has a sea view. The other two rooms are doubles. Breakfast is included and there are various options including a full Orcadian or Orkney Kippers. Sanday is an island of beautiful beaches and dramatic coastlines. There is a fantastic natural arch and beach just over a mile from the B&B and some more natural arches 4 miles away. The B&B has a guest lounge with fantastic sea views. From the B&B you can see Breas Wick, Pool Bay, the Calf of Eday, Papa Westray, and the Holmes of Ire. Evening meals and packed lunches can be supplied upon request.

I can heartily recommend Braeswick B&B to anyone visiting the beautiful island of Sanday. The B&B is a 5 minute drive from the ferry, and offers comfortable rooms (including great showers!) with plenty of storage space for clothes/suitcases. The beds are very comfortable and we all (family of 4 in 2 rooms) had a great sleep for the 2 nights we were there. If I had one (minor) grumble, it would be that the double beds are 3/4 length. I am only 5'8" but my feet would hang out of the end of the bed if I laid straight. Thankfully I don't sleep straight, so it wasn't an issue, but could be for taller guests. This minor concern wouldn't put me off staying again, I'd have no hesitation in rebooking. The views from the dining area are amazing and you could easily just sit there for hours looking out over the Sanday coastline and North Atlantic. Breakfast was great and we also took advantage of the home made evening meals (as there isn't a lot else on offer), however these were really nice and offered great value for money. Jon's was a wonderful host and I felt that nothing was too much trouble for him. As he didn't have a guest in our room on the evening of our departure, he allowed us to use the room until our ferry (we had a 6pm departure to Kirkwall) which was a real bonus. It is not very often that B&Bs warrant 5 stars. Most are OK for the night and that's about it, but this is an exception. The attention to detail, cleanliness and service is quite beyond anything i have previously experienced i would expect no more if I were staying at The Savoy in London. Everything gets a large tick, including the food. More astonishing is that the establishment is run mainly by Jon, a master of the perfect host brigade. Visitors will not be disappointment.

So many wonderful things to say about this place and the hosts its hard to know where to start. John and Maria are the ultimate in friendly and accomplished hosts. Going out of their way to make sure your needs are met. Highly recommend the evening meal to top off your days end travels. The view from the dining area is picture perfect. Look for the owls flying over the field and the seals sunning themselves on the outcrop. On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 the best, the showers are unbelievable. Multiple shower heads coming from all directions and the high water pressure is so refreshing you hate to stop...and did I mention the shampoo, conditioner and bath gel are in this spa like shower. Going to rethink my shower at home. The beds and linens are comfortable and luxurious. Nice big wrap around towels. And plenty of pillows for those of us who need them. Again, great views of the bay and fields that add to your comfort. Good cross ventilation so your room and bath stay cool on the warm July evenings. The dining/lounge area has these comfy chairs for observing the beauty that is Sanday. Very pleasant B&B experience, very helpful hosts familiar with Sanday and all its corners. Room pleasant with thoughtful touches, lovely shower, and a lend of the toolkit to attend to a loose fixing on the bike hired for getting about. Lovely food and a wonderful view from the picture window out over land to sea. I would recommend this B&B.

A wonderful B&B experience, Jon is a marvellous host, anxious to cater to your every need or concern: just ask! Property is spotlessly clean and full of thoughtful touches: informative guide to hospitality and local tourism, compact but well equipped drinks tray with good selection of types of tea, fluffy towels on heated rail, dispensers of hand soap, shower creme, shampoo and conditioner, lighted basin mirror, bean-to-cup coffee machine in the hall, extensive breakfast menu (to fill in the night before) with tasty and beautifully cooked results! We received a warm welcome on a very windy and rainy Orkney summer day. :-)
