I travel to Sanday on a regular basis through the winter and the Belsaire is always welcoming and warm. The food is great value for money. The owner and all the locals that drink in the bar always have time for a chat. I highly recommend staying here if you are visiting the island. R. Frampton

This is under New Management. Kay was so friendly and welcoming. When we arrived we were shown to our rooms which were comfortable and very clean. The food was delicious, we had the local fish. Nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was hot and well presented. We will definately be returning. If you want to experience real Orkney hospitality,... More

We have eaten at the Belsair on several occasions now and have not been disappointed. Kay and her husband have just taken over this establishment, and have made a wonderfully warm and welcome establishment. Locally caught fish and produce is on the menu, and very reasonably priced, there is always a lovely warm fire. Nothing is too much trouble and... More

Visiting the island whilst touring the Orkneys, we came across the Belsair and decided to eat there. From the exterior, there has obviously been a recent programme of refurbishment, and it looked very nice. This work has obviously been continued into the bar area. Sadly though, the effort put into this has obviously detracted from any customer service training. Lacklustre... More

Admittedly, I am lucky enough to now live on Sanday, but unlucky enough to have to work away a lot of the time. This being the case, I was away for my wife's birthday. However, I contacted Claire and Matt, in secret, asking if they could put on a birthday treat for said wife in my absence. Nothing was too... More

Shower was certainly hot but a bit uncontrollable. now to the best bit the food was excellent we ate there both nights. It was well... More

Went here on 12 August - during a day trip to Sanday. Small seating area with small bar. No staff around when we arrived, but locals eating at one table and visitors at another. Waiting a minute or two before someone came and took our order for food and drinks....then waited 45 minutes for the food to arrive! Was getting... More

We decided to go into the Belsair for a drink, when we were out on a day trip. When we arrived there was one man in the bar, with a pint, we stood for at least 10 minutes & no one came through to serve us, looked for a bell or something to get staffs attention but couldn't see one!... More
