Detailed Reviews
What a relaxing stay we had at the recently refreshed Pierowall Hotel! The hospitality was incredible and the surroundings comfortable. The pub is a clear hub for locals and the food was both reasonably priced and well cooked. The best kind of traditional hotel, with friendly staff that get to know you, clean and cozy rooms, and impeccable service. It’s the kind of place you’d love to come back, year on year… and perhaps we just might!

Our party had a double and a twin room; both had everything you would need on holiday and the beds were super comfy. We were here for 3 nights and had our evening meal and breakfast here; great choice of food and even the fussy 12 year old had plenty of choice. Beer garden has a lovely view over Pierowall Bay; perfect for enjoying a pint after a day of walking. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Hope to get back soon.

From the moment one enters the premises one is made welcome. The rooms are comfortable. It is a haven of tranquility. And as for the food! It has to be some of the best seafood I have ever tasted. Unpretentious and perfectly prepared, the last two dinners were excellent. The breakfasts are a great way to start the day. The staff are attentive and show genuine interest in their customers. I would most certainly recommend The Pierowall Hotel to everyone. At last Stromness has a rival.

We stopped at the Pierowall hotel for some lunch while on a day trip to the island and we loved it. I would even go so far that it was some of the best fish I have ever had. The fish is caught off the coast of Orkney and is super fresh. I had the monkfish in breadcrumbs which was delicious. So juicy and moist. My husband was also raving about his haddock. Definitely recommend stopping by

This hotel is a real haven and, from start to finish, we throughly enjoyed our stay. The staff are delightful and can’t do enough for you. The delicious morning scones and homemade jam are very welcome, especially after an early morning ferry journey. Dinner was delicious and we had the freshest crab and haddock we have ever tasted.Bedrooms are exceedingly comfortable and the breakfasts are wonderful, plenty of fresh fruit and great porridge as well as all the traditional fare. Everywhere is sparkling- it is a gem of a hotel. Many thanks to you all.

There aren’t many options of places to stay on Westray but the Pierowall Hotel was everything I needed during my stay. My room looked out to the sea which is always nice. Staff were so helpful and friendly and a delight. Be sure to request a table for dinner as it’s the only place around and frequented by locals and gets busy.

I stayed at the Pierowall Hotel for two nights, very friendly and accomodating. Decent facilities, clean and tidy, flexible to store luggage on arrival. Asked if I wanted to eat later so recommended booking a table. The food was great, they serve a variety of Orkney and Swannay beers. I would definitely stay again if visiting Westray. Great location too.

Just back from a 2 night stay at the Pierowall, a lovely trip that I can't wait to repeat. Everyone is full of a warm welcome, the rooms are tastefully decorated, cosy, and spacious.
Nothing is too much trouble for the girls that run the restaurant (a big shout out to Lena who is just lovely!) And the beer garden is just lovely to sit out and enjoy the world going by with one of the local gins.
