Welcome to Comrie Croft! Nestled at the base of Ben Chonzie in rural Perthshire we offer a little something for everyone. Stay in our farmstead with private ensuite rooms and the friendly camaraderie of a hostel. Or experience natural camping (fires allowed) with access to hot showers and facilities: bring your own tent or hire a Nordic Kata with a bed platform and wood stove to keep it cosy all year round. Being on a 230-acre estate there lots of land to explore, why not try some of the 18km of hand-crafted mountain bike trails, or the many walking paths. Kids can create their own fun in the woodlands, look out for the rope swings and Mr Moles house! After all that activity relax and enjoy the view in our Tea Garden café. They’re well known for Alli’s delicious homemade cakes and smooth coffee.

My partner and I spent 2 nights in the Kata accommodation. Very impressed with the Kata itself, cosy and clean and private. Although we didnt use the woodburning stove for cooking it was relatively easy to build and maintain a fire for continuous heat. Although the wood provided wouldn't have lasted longer than the 48hrs we stayed. Only downside was there was no list of provisions of what was in the kata before arrival. And the free wifi didnt reach as far as our kata, at the top of the campsite, although was available in the lower areas. The campsite itself is divided into seperate camping areas giving a sense of privacy. The toilet/shower block is well maintained and clean, although oddly there are no sanitary bins in the toilets. The cafe serves breakfast rolls, and lunches of high quality. And the shop is well stocked with food and camping items. All staff are friendly and approachable. For a unique camping experience I would highly recommend a stay in a Nordic Kata.

Had a lovely weekend with the kids. Facilities are great and perfect amount of activities to keep the kids busy, particularly the tree swing which kept the older one busy for hours. Kids loved the bikes and Mathew the site manager was fantastic and couldn't have been any friendlier and helpful. All in a great weekend!

By absolute chance, I was able to visit Scotland this passed July 4th holiday weekend and was fortunate to spend the evening of July 3rd at the Comrie Croft campground. As an American that knows little of Scotland or the Highlands I used of all things Google Maps to find this place at random and was extremely happy I did. I booked my caravan spot online a week in advance and though I arrived after hours, checking in the next morning was no issue at all. The helpful staff was more then willing to help me attain fire wood, kindling, and matches that I paid for the next morning at the farm shop. Once settled into my caravan spot, I asked another helpful staff member if there was a place to get food nearby since I missed the farm store for the day. She pointed me “just over the hill” into the town of Comrie. I am very glad I took the road less traveled as the trail into town was an adventure through nature and time itself. Rustic waterfalls, ancient stone cottages, and grand cedar trees older then my own country were just a few of the sights on my journey into Comrie. That evening I rested aside an intimate fire set in a stone hearth, quietly satisfied with myself. I watched the summer’s northern twilight fade into midnight and was reminded of my childhood home of Aroostook County Maine and how strikingly similar yet foreign this place was to there. If you enjoy nature, rural settings, and historical places; I strongly recommend a stay in Comrie at the Comrie Croft. You will not regret that you did, as never will I.

Was a guest at a wedding here. The surroundings where lovely and the outdoor wedding was beautiful. The negative part of this review relates to the part when the reception moved indoors to a converted barn for the wedding party. After everyone had been up to watch the first dances, guests returned to find that bottles of wine that where on the tables, lots of bottles of wine that had been paid for by the bride and groom, had been removed from the tables, never to me seen again. On three occasions, when my wife had went outside, we returned to our table to find that glasses of wine we had purchased, had been removed by the bar staff. When challenged, they said they wouldn’t do such a thing. The groom informed us that the bar staff had been complaining that not enough guests were buying booze from the bar, due to the bottles that had been on the tables when the meal was served. Surely this is no excuse to, what amounts to, pinching folks drinks . Really put a downer on what was an otherwise great night. Something for other potential celebrants to be aware of.

Hello Peter, I'm happy to read that you enjoyed the wedding here at Comrie Croft. We provide an unlicensed DYI wedding venue to our couples and are not involved in the hiring of external caterers. So unfortunately you've reviewed the wrong business. However, we are grateful that you have made us aware of this problem and have already passed this on to said bar provider. I'm really sorry that you have experienced this at our venue and we will do what we can to make sure this doesn't happen in the future. Many thanks, the Crofters

Staff in the shop and reception are very friendly and welcoming. If it is your first time, they will take you through everything from how to get to your campsite to a walk along the path up to the waterfall. The facilities for camping, i.e. showers, bathrooms, fridge, and taps, are very well kept and cleaned regularly. Our camping patch (2) does have quite a slope, but it was wide enough for a large tent to set up and leave room for the campfire. The paths could be trimmed back a little. A lot of ferns hang over the path, which has resulted in a few tick bites. BONUS - The woodfired pizzas on Saturday night were amazing!

Thanks so much for your feedback, Blair! We're so glad to hear you had a good time and found the staff welcoming. The greenery can be intense at this time of year and we're working hard to keep it all under control and keep our paths tick-free.

My daughter, grand-daughter (6) and I stayed in Kata 2 on 16-18th June. Although the minuses for this visit are more than the pluses, we would definitely come again - but would check that there were no events scheduled. The good points –  Lovely campsite, part woodland, part meadow. Great for children to explore.  Grand-daughter loved the Kata, especially the wrens nesting above the door.  Nice shop with lots of eco friendly stock.  The Tea Garden provided delicious, freshly prepared food. Excellent coffee and scones!  Friendly, helpful staff.  Dogs allowed.  A wedding took place on Saturday but noise from The Steading was minimal. The not so good –  Hoped for the promised “nearly wild camping” experience, including peace and quiet. Having been reassured by the stated policy of no noise 11 pm - 7 am, dismayed to be kept awake on Friday night by very loud live band playing in the garden until 11.50 pm (wouldn’t have booked this weekend if known). On Saturday our neighbours, a group on pitches 5, 6 and 7, seemed intent on consuming their remaining stock of alcohol and their voices got louder and louder until I requested “quiet please!” in best teacher’s voice at 2.15 am. Our whole weekend was marred by exhaustion.  The main track in the site has a very steep hill with loose stones - a challenge for clutch and gearbox.  Access to Kata 2 is by steep steps or longer twisty path. Loading and unloading a bit of a nightmare - thank goodness it was dry. Beware, those with dodgy hips or knees!  It’s quite a trek from camping areas to toilet/shower/facilities. Not enough of either. Also a long way to carry a heavy water carrier. Some water taps in camping areas would be good.  The lower Kata door was very heavy and, because of the design, swung shut with some force when released – enough to do serious damage to any body parts in the way! Keep your children and dogs clear. Risk assessment carried out?  The platform bed was described as “firm” – it’s hard.  More pre-arrival information would have been welcome, eg a list of kitchen equipment provided in Kata. Would have been good to know that pizzas were available on Saturday night (I don’t use social media and didn’t see any posters). Good idea to warn people when booking if there are noisy events planned?  Finally - a suggestion. Not all children arrive with siblings and/or friends. A small play park would provide a place to make friends.

Hello Patricia, thank you so much for taking the time to write to us. We're glad to hear that you enjoyed the Croft and what it has to offer, despite the issues you're describing. We'd like to sincerely apologise for the live music you could hear on Friday night. It wasn't a Croft event, it was the annual summer solstice celebration at the Market Garden. We have a member of staff on call on our camp site 24/7 who is happy to assist should there be any issues such as noise on the campsite. You can find this number on the reception door, foyer and information boards. I have passed on the issue you had with the Kata door to our maintenance team and they are looking into a solution. We've also taken your feedback regarding the pre-arrival information on board and have made changes to our booking confirmation email. With regards to the bedding, some people will choose to bring a camp mat/mattress topper, but we are also looking at replacing the current beds this year. Every Kata now has its own compost loo and It's less than 200 metres from the Kata to the flushing toilets, but a little further to the showers. We try to be as transparent as possible when it comes to descriptions and distances on our booking site, and I'm really sorry if it wasn't clear enough that there is a bit of a walk involved to the facilities from the woodlands. While the woods and streams (and the big rope swing in the woods) usually provide plenty of opportunity for the kids to gather and play with others, we love your suggestion of a little play area too. It's noted on our winter projects plan. Thank you again for your suggestions.

I wanted a campsite with a view, on a hill with a breeze to avoid the midgies. This campsite is a gem. The situation is in a beautiful part of Perthshire, about 1 hour from Glasgow. The campsite is clean, has a lovely shop, cafe and Mountain bike centre. I love it’s really strong go for a sustainable camp site. The staff are friendly, the campsite is dog friendly. The cafe is wonderful and they have a market garden next to it so fresh organic produce available.

Arriving at Comrie Croft and seeing our Kata, we were in awe of the setting and quality of the glamping experience. Our accommodation was clean, extremely comfortable, warm and inviting, with a real "wow" factor. Trails leading to the pond and fields gave a welcome respite from our long journey and enabled a lovely recharge. Showers were clean, wildlife (including red squirrels!) was abundant, Crofters kind and helpful, the cafe was excellent, and peace was had! Sitting around our campfire topped off our Comrie adventure!

Fantastic stay in a kata. So glad of the wood burner to keep us cosy as was very cold outside at night. Very well equipped with everything you need. Can cook outside on gas burners or inside on wood burner. Great location surrounded by wildlife in the woods and only a short drive into Comrie for shops and cafes. Automatic lights in the toilet were very much appreciated at night. Very friendly staff at check in.
