Just back from a fantastic 2 night stay at the Achray House Hotel. From the minute we arrived Clare made us feel very welcome. The room was spacious and clean. The bathroom radiator wasn't working but it was quickly resolved with a heater in the room. We had the tasting menu the first night (highly recommend) and a la carte the second night which was equally as good. Our dog was made a fuss of throughout our stay. We'll definitely be back. Thanks to everyone who made our weekend great.

This was our second visit to Achray House and it didn’t disappoint. Set in a beautiful part of the highlands, the views are spectacular. The staff were very welcoming and make you feel relaxed from the minute you arrive. The rooms are very cozy and we had a great view over the loch. We had the tasting menu and it was some of the best food we’ve had in some time. top marks to the chef and staff🥂🍷👏👏👏👏

Achray House is excellent value for money. The food here was very good and service very friendly. Only suggestions I would have would be to improve the lighting of the car park (can be very dark) and maybe hire more staff as the poor lass serving was absolutely rushed off her feet which detracted from creating a relaxed ambiance.

My wife and I are fortunate in that we can visit here there and everywhere pretty much at the drop of a hat. Over the years we've had the good and the bad, recently we found Achray house St Fillans, what a pleasant surprise, we were treated like long lost friends, instantly comfortable. The kitchen produces 5 star food complimented with a wine list competitively priced and lovely rooms. Yes we are going back early 24 which will be our 4th visit.

Great place to come with friends to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery. The hotel is right on the edge of the loch with lovely views. Service was friendly and relaxed. We had dinner, bed & breakfast and it was pretty good value. The food was excellent and the rooms nice.

We wish we could’ve reviewed Achray House Hotel for its ambience and cuisine however after arriving we were told they hadn’t booked our booking on their diary/room system and we were informed that they were sorry but they couldn’t do anything for us as they had no spare rooms. The receptionist had found my email trail with Laura (Admin email address) and confirmation of acceptance for our 2 day Gourmet break in the Lubnaig room on their computer. I had asked to speak to the owner but she wasn’t on site and she was at least 15 minutes away so as it was nearly 4.45pm and we had an almost 2 hour drive back home we left very disappointed in the hotel and being massively inconvenienced with no attempt to try to make things right. I then waited in hope that the owner would reach out to us (they have our email address, home address and mobile number) but after waiting over 48hrs there has been no contact from the hotel at all so I emailed the hotel explaining our dissatisfaction again and after waiting a further 24hrs since my email with no response I have written this review. Unfortunately my experience doesn’t seem to be an isolated case as the couple in front of us had booked for the same day that we had arrived but the receptionist found their booking on their system for the next day. Fortunately they managed to give this elderly couple the last remaining room Colin Booking 2 Day Gourmet Break Lubnaig Room 22nd & 23rd November 2023

Dear Colin, As per our emails and even a visit to you in person in Edinburgh to apologise and try to make up for the inconvenience caused, we are truly sorry for the mix up and have explained the possible contributing factors and also the very personal reason for not responding as quickly as we normally would or should have. Hopefully all that has gone some way to making up for this unfortunate situation which really happens very rarely. We've taken steps / done training with staff to ensure that this doesn't happen again. We do hope that you will take up our offer and come again and see that we do get it right - as the vast majority of reviews here will attest to. The other couple did have a mix up too. However, that was at least their 2nd stay with us, they still have another booked and just bought another voucher for a 4th, again showing that we do a good job and people come back! Once again we are truly sorry.

Achray House ( restaurant with rooms ) is a lovely building with a great outlook. Our room was large with a great view. However the water pressure for the shower is really poor. Comfortable bed. The bar and restaurant are extremely cold. Apparently the tasting menu is very good, but the a la carte is average. My steak had no fresh vegetables and frozen skinny fries. It is very under staffed, and as a result a bit chaotic. Breakfast was ok, a good selection. The half a slice of haggis and black pudding in the Full Scottish were greasy Would I go back? No There is so much completion out there. Achray needs to up its game.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. Glad that you found the bedroom, bed & view good. When the bathroom was re-done a couple of years ago we looked at ways to improve the pressure but due to the location of the tank and pipes in the old Victorian part of the house, we couldn't do anything. There is a good electric shower and there are very rarely any complaints. I believe that on the day in question, one of the newer members of staff didn't know how to get the heaters on so it may have been chilly to start, but once her colleague came she got the heaters going and there was a roaring fire in the dining room. The tasting menu is good as many reviews here show. You can't eat lactose and as our website and pre-arrival emails clearly state, our style of cooking doesn't cater as well for that as e.g. vegetarian / pescatarian or gluten free. We pride ourselves on the classic French cookery we do with seasonal produce and it is the cream and butter that makes it. If we had a bigger team we would be able to provide many more options, but the reality is that at the moment we have to focus on what we do best, and what people come for. The vast majority of guests that night were returning guests all having the tasting menu. You had "Steak & Frites" which suggests French fries, which is what you got, served with Portobello Mushroom, Tomato & Jus. It's not common to serve "Steak Frites" with veg, but had you asked, we could have provided a side of veg. Breakfast is cooked in an oven with no oil, only the fried eggs are done in oil, so we are sorry to read it was greasy, and again had we been told at the time, we would have cooked something fresh or something else. The vast majority really enjoy breakfast and find the portion just right. We are sorry that you didn't enjoy your stay to the fullest and hope in future you find places that better cater to you. Kind regards,

Jill and I returned to Achray House for the Tasting Menu "offer" We stayed in the beautifully decorated Voil room (3) with a view down the loch Our six course dinner was absolutely superb. Each course was nicely presented as were the optional matching wines. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves helped by the happy atmosphere engendered by staff and fellow customers (also no doubt the wine....) All in all this was a great experience and exceptional value

Being a foodie I look forward to trips to Achray House. The menu is ever changing and always delicious. Each course is served with style and a description which enhances the expectation and experience. Laura is a knowledgeable host and the general manager, Claire, is very helpful and friendly (funny too). The views from the hotel are spectacular. What a delight to visit a hotel that hasn't opted for a pub grub menu. Well done.

Really great experience. We chose the 2 day stay and took our dog with us. A lovely welcome and shown to our very comfortable room which was perfect - it’s own door to outside, really handy for the dog! The tasting menu on the first night was absolutely first class - befitting of a 5 star restaurant. Lovely cosy little bar area where we could also take our dog. It’s such a beautiful location, plenty of walks nearby. We had a fabulous stay and would highly recommend Achray House - book well in advance - it’s busy because it’s so good.
