Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What a beautiful place to play golf. The welcome and top service from the Director of Golf, David Thomson from start to finish was 5 star quality. The scenery is spectacular and eye catching. The golf course is hard but fair. A good variety of holes which require the use of every club in the bag. The clubhouse is fantastic with a friendly feel to it. The staff cannot do enough for you. Before heading out for a game I was shown to my personal locker where I found the Carnegie Links goody bag. The contents were amazing from a bag tag with your name engraved on it to many other golfing gifts. Lovely touch! After my round we sat down for lunch where again the service was 5 star. The day for us was not long enough and one visit is never enough. Hopefully we can re-visit again in the near future. The place is that special I can’t praise it high enough. Oh and the weather was beautiful too.

Only so many public dates during the year, and it is expensive, but a fabulous golf course and facilities. Set in beautiful countryside and in immaculate condition, with many varied and challenging holes. The clubhouse is fantastic and the staff are superb, we were very well looked after.

We stayed in the hotel with the family and we were amazed by the property, kind staff and everything that belongs to this place. Once you enter the gate you have the feeling that that the time stopped here and you can enjoy every moment of your stay. I have never been to such a beautiful place - we all will remeber our moments there. The food is excellent, rooms in the castle are for only for adults and kids can stay with their parents in the cottages. The glasshouse swimming pool is perfect. The hotel has the best fitness I have ever seen a hotel. You can experience great activities - horse riding, shooting, fishing, tennis, quad bikes, spa treatments, walks, etc.

I have been lucky enough to stay at Skibo a couple of times as a guest of a member, both times in September and hope to be invited back this September also. It is simply the best place I have ever stayed by a long way, the people are extraordinary, the rooms are extraordinary, the golf course is fabulous and it is in simply one of the most beautiful places in the world. I simply cannot wait to visit again this year.

I was invited as a guest to a members birthday party and the experience that I had and the service that I witnessed was just impeccable. There was nothing that was too much for any member of staff when asked. The surroundings are just outstanding and the food was indescribable - a heaven to taste!! The ceilidh afterwards was just amazing and I don't think I was ever off the floor (Mary did pick me out a few times to keep on dancing!!!!). The time absolutely flew by and before I knew it we were transported to wherever we wanted to go. "To stay here" unfortunately was not an option but I can not thank the staff enough for their amazing attention to detail in every aspect of their duties. It really will be a memory that I will treasure forever.

Normally you would have spotted me on a boat in Ibiza or having lunch in Monaco, I would have never expected to say I have found a place that is so wonderful if my partner says let's go away I instantly want to go to Skibo. It has quickly become a home from home for all the reasons everyone else has said on here so I won't repeat these. The team at Skibo are like family, the warm welcome and care is extraordinary. It would be demeaning to even compare this to a 6 star hotel, it's not, it's a members club where people from all over the world share the passion and belonging to a special place in the highlands, Skibo!

Dornoch resident, Sutherland born, a privilege to see how this fabulous Castle has progressed to be probably one of the world's best clubs. Have been entertained there when it was a private family home and as a private club , lucky me! Amazing transformation in the last few years , the whole estate has been sympathetically improved to a model to which will be hard to emulate anywhere. The golf course has been transformed, very links type now, dunes, fast fairways , some tremendous holes you want to play again. If you want to get away from it all, quietly, want the finest accommodation, food , facilities of a Highland estate, in fantastic scenery , there is probably no equal. Scotlands no1 golf course is nearby at Royal Dornoch. Wonderful area , but we don't want too many people sharing it , so keep it quiet!

Perfect, in every way. Eye watering expensive, but if you have the money you will not regret it in any way. If you are a golfer, life doesn't get any better than this -- a championship course which gets almost no play, and 5 minutes from Royal Dornoch as well. Michelin-quality food and service. Heaven.

There are a few places like this in the world - Scotland has Skibo Castle. To extol the merits of this establishment would mean I would go on and on and on about the quality, the level of consideration for you made by the elite staff, and attention to detail in everything from your bar of soap to your . . . you name it. This is where Skibo comes into it’s own there is no upper level, they just keep pushing the bar ever higher. To say more would be useless to say less would be an insult.

Surrounded by the Dornoch Firth on one side and partially by Loch Evelix on the other, this course is a winner. Well kept greens maintained by the knowledgable Greenkeepers, anyone playing this course could only be impressed by yet another spectacular golf course in this area. Mr Carnegie picked a beautiful spot!
