This structure was built with the idea of being a bed and breakfast. It was nice to have a single level for a change. The atmosphere was warm and open. Fiona and her husband John were most gracious hosts. Breakfast was wonderful; her dinner recommendation was accurate. Fiona showed concern when the power was interrupted for a brief time.

Lovely location and presents well, stayed in two rooms with family, one room was spot on, comfy double bed, wet room style ensuite thou was a little annoying. The other room, twin singles, the beds were horrible, I'm still sore a week later, ensuite was magnificent thou, breakfast was a little flop, burnt toast and eggs were experimenting a new... More

What a lovely find. We had an excellent, spacious, comfortable, well equipped room with lots of added extras (chocolate, whisky miniature, shortbread, fresh milk, fridge). Great breakfast cooked to order and options are tailored to each guest. A true 5* B&B that my wife and I are very happy to highly recommend.

This was my first trip anywhere in this area and Auchlea was easy to find and near to the main road. SatNav did suggest The Pillars, but that was 100yds too far! Welcome was warm and genuine, and the room was really comfortable. Tea and coffee making facilities were in the room and the rare addition of a small fridge... More

Breakfast comprised lovely fresh garden fruit, a choice of juice, cereal and a choice of either scrambled egg and salmon or sausage, fried egg, tomato, hash brown and... More

We only stayed one night but it was perfectly fine. We were warmly welcomed by Fiona even though we arrived a bit early for check-in. The room was not large but the breakfast was and it was superb with homemade breads and jams. If you have a car, and most do, it's only two minutes to the center of Dornach,... More

We spent 2 nights in this lovely B&B located in a beautiful setting on the outskirts of Dornoch overlooking fields and the sea in the distance. Fiona is a wonderful host and provides a lovely breakfast including home made bread and jams. The rooms we had were very comfortable and even included a refrigerator which we have not previously encountered... More

Wonderful, warm hospitality in the countryside, only two or three minutes drive from Dornoch village center; beautiful views; peaceful setting; Fiona makes a great breakfast with fresh fruit in season; Fiona was also very helpful with the small problems I had; you will be in good hands. If you are playing golf at Royal Dornoch this is perfect; five minutes... More

This was our first trip to the east coast of Scotland en route to the Highlands and Fiona made us most welcome. If using a SatNav ensure you choose A9 after IV253HY, as we didn't and missed the entrance. Great views over the coast from the window of the conservatory. A wonderful selection of home made jams and preserves to... More

“Avoid it completely, but if you have to at least avoid the handicapped accessible room (at the end of the hallway to the right).”
  • The room with the air and smell of the retirement home of my grandparents.
  • Yellowed Bedsheet (compared to the white pillow)
  • Worn-out and smelly towels. The unused flannel dyed the water grey.
  • The mouldy shower
  • Cheap plastic and untreated wood. Nice look, but unhygienic.
