These spectacular lodgings, well, they’re the stuff of dreams, every bit as breathtaking as the land they sit in. This is the very tip of Scotland, of soaring mountain, aquamarine seas & views that stretch for miles under a vast sky. It is one of the most beautiful places you will encounter on our planet.

Imagine driving along a road at the very edge of a wild, vast landscape. Stone sea stacks, white sand beaches, stars, rainbows and then arrive at Croft 103, more Grand Designs than intimate bolt hole. Gently truly climate friendly, floor to ceiling glass overlooking sea and sky, giant bed… with the same giant vista, spectacular dark sky stars at night and at sunrise stags gazing quizzically into the bedroom… that’s not an exaggeration! Croft 103 is a gift from two beautiful Scottish hearts, Fiona and Robbie who quietly created a bit of heaven.

Quite simply the most beautiful place I have ever stayed at in the UK. An exceptional building with no expense spared on the fixtures and fittings. A quiet wilderness away from busy life. Lots of floor space, huge bed, fantastic rain shower and changing views throughout the day with Scotland's Sepetmber weather. I want go back again ... now!

My wife and I travelled to this remote part of the North West Highlands to stay in Shore House, one of two modern one bed cabins at this location close to Loch Eriboll. Shore House was literally just above the shoreline of the loch. A beautiful modern glass fronted building with shallow barrel vaulted zinc roof set into the landscape, with hewn stone end walls. The views from the open plan lounge, dining and kitchen area and bedroom, bathroom and cloakroom were peaceful and stunning, even in the rain, which unfortunately was most of our 9 day stay. But we went there to unwind and unwind we did. It came naturally in this most peaceful and beautiful of places. As an architect I was in architect heaven. The cabin is very spacious and well appointed, and well finished. polished concrete floors, stainless steel faced kitchen units and appliances, stone worktops and comfortable sofa and two Charles Eames style armchairs and footstools. Super double fridge freezer that stored all our provisions and wine and bottled sparkling water. Water from the taps though is fine, although we did not know until we arrived. The bed was very comfortable, and mega wide, so guaranteed a good night's sleep. The bedroom is fitted with a black out curtain which was necessary, as the daylight hours are long and night seemed to be about three hours of twilight until daybreak very early in the morning. Nearby beaches are spectacular and worth visiting, even in the rain. In the sunshine, the sand is white and they are unspoiled places to walk. With blue skies reflected off the sea and white sand you could be in the Caribbean. We did catch a few such rays and were grateful for them. If you do travel to stay here you must visit Lotte Glob's ceramic pottery studio, which is a short distance south of Port na Con. We bought two pieces to remind us of our stay. In conclusion a fabulous place to unwind and thoroughly recommended. Thanks to Fiona Makay and her husband for presenting the place so well.

Our second visit to this beautiful property which has great views of Loch Eriboll from the large windows which run the full length of the property facing the Loch. The surrounding countryside is stunning and the beaches are fantastic with some wonderful countryside for walking. Hill cottage has an outside bath which was a relaxing warm place from which to watch the ever changing Eriboll scenery or the stars at night, a great and unusual feature. Thanks to Fiona and her team for another relaxing holiday.

Wow! A gorgeous, luxury and very well thought out Croft. Nothing like this around . Beautiful and stunning views with the best beaches I have ever seen anywhere in the world. Yes it is very remote and takes some time to arrive via the very twisty and narrow road but it is so worth it. I needed relaxation and peace and definitely got it. Our little dog lives it here, remote beaches and looking out if the windows and from the paved area across the Loch over to Ben Hope. A massive thank you to the owner - Fiona who arranged for her brother to take me back to the Croft with our dog when we sustained a puncture. My husband had to accompany the car ti Ullapool to the nearest tyre garage (no road side repairs here). Unfortunately my husband had a very long day before he could return as one of the tyres had to be brought up from Inverness but thanks to the kindness of Fiona and her brother, my dog and I arrived back at the Croft with our ample provisions ! Do not hesitate … book this for total R&R and luxury.

We stayed for 7 nights w/c 23rd Sept 2022 and start by saying the say that the arrival (you will get this when you drive on to Croft 103 Hillside) is amazing. The Croft itself rates for us as one of THE best accommodations we have stayed anywhere in the world, believe me we have travelled and stayed in many. Peace, quiet, soul soothing, a changing picture every day and the sense of very ancient history only just start to sum it up. The owner, Fiona is the best host and the store they run in Durness has everything you need just as you fancy it if you know what I mean. We (Lynn, Charles and Boppo the dog) had the privilege of staying whilst the Durness Highland games were being held - first one for three years given Covid. The day saw glorious blue skies and the games field overlooking the sea - the whole thing was spectacular including Fiona's run - well done Fiona, we waved you over the finish line. Do yourself a favour and cancel your long haul and treat yourself to Croft 103 - you may have to book ahead though ........ We cannot wait to return!

The natural surroundings of Croft 103 (Hill House), are that of rugged beauty. The views are outstanding. Across Loch Eriboll to the mountains beyond, light changes to highlight different aspects on second by second basis. The tiny single track roads throughout Sutherland bend and curl to reveal yet another perfect beach below. Geology enthusiasts can marvel at the history of time captured in the unique landscape of the area. The croft is designed to be an experience in itself. Eco conscious architecture delivers the moving landscape beyond the glass front as a warm and luxurious hide from which to become part of the landscape yourself. The outside bath isn't a gimmick. It has to be experienced. Breathe in the fresh air and the deafening silence among the heather. The living space flows beautifully with each area as open or closed off as you want it to be by sliding doors. We let in all the light all week. The great swathes of Harris tweed curtains stayed unused. It bearly got dark this far north in July., allowing even longer to enjoy the views. So much beauty to see in the surrounding areas, but always a joy to return to this incredible building. It is a long way from most places....but the rewards at the end of the journey are sublime.

My husband and I stayed at Shore Cottage for a week and it was just perfect. The accommodation itself is top quality. The views across the the loch are mesmerising. Robbie and Fiona are very welcoming hosts. One thing I would recommend - we took all our food (and wine 🥂) with us but it would have been much easier to place an order with the local Spar shop and have it delivered. And the shop has a excellent selection anyway. That’s what we will do next time 😀.
