The lodge is in an excellent location, overlooking Smoo Cave. Check-in was quite late, 4pm, but this did mean we were assured that the accommodation had been thoroughly cleaned prior to new guests arriving. We were met by Merlin, our host, and were very surprised to be requested to remove our shoes in the porch and wear hotel-style slippers provided by them. These didn't fit, so we ended up abandoning them and walking round in our socks. It's a bit of an overkill measure, to be honest. The house, though, is lovely - a one-way system whilst moving around the property, a super lounge and dining room, and comfortable bedroom with a superb view. Luxury toiletries were provided, and a coffee machine (we would have preferred a kettle). Merlin is a very attentive host, and the breakfast was lovely. All in all, it's a great place to stay, although the highest price of all our venues on our Scotland trip.

We stayed at Smoo Lodge for 2 nights, it was amazing. We had to change rooms for the 2nd night, (we knew this before hand), it was the only way to stay both nights. The rooms were great, and it was so quiet and peaceful. Merlin was the perfect host. The breakfasts were great, my husband likes Korean food, so he had the Korean breakfasts both mornings, and thoroughly enjoyed them. This really is a fabulous place to stay, its expensive, but worth the money. Finally all Covid precautions were fully in place.

My wife and I stayed here for a couple of nights recently and we found the accommodation very comfortable indeed, the social distancing rules were being applied religiously, which is good. The host Merlin was very pleasant and helpful, but we were disappointed that we did not manage to meet his co - host and wife during our stay. The breakfast was really good, enjoyed our stay.

I managed to book a night at Smoo Lodge, after I found out the last minute, the property I thought i was booked in to, didn't actually have me booked in. My friend found Smoo Lodge for me and gave me the number. I spoke to the owner, Merlin who gave me directions. I was pretty stressed as I thought I would be sleeping in my car that night. Merlin greeted me at the door and provided me with much needed refreshments. The house is beautiful. The attention to detail of the decor and furnishings is first class. When I got to my room, I was very happy. Good size, beautifully decorated, lovely bathroom and the bed was superb ! Tea and coffee facilites in the room. Breakfast was excellent with a good choice. Loved the tea pots too ! I'm so glad I stayed there. Merlin was a super host and I can't recommend the house highly enough. I would stay there again without hesitation ! Well done !

Stayed here for two nights and enjoyed the comfort and attention to detail. From well appointed bedroom, to lounge and breakfast. Nearby beach of Balnakeil is fantastic, and Smoo cave is worth a visit.
