Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Wow, what can I say.! We booked one of the Shepard's Hut - sea views, rabbits playing in the field and sheep being rounded up - perfect. Very comfortable bed Large bathroom with excellent shower and lovely fluffy towels Nice decking area with seating Well appointed kitchen with everything you may need. Everything about this accommodation is quality and they really have thought of everything. Lovely owner too.

Alexandra is a lovely host and obviously works very hard to maintain her high standards. The place is modern, clean and comfortable with stunning views and a fabulous breakfast. We would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend it to others.

Some of the rudest people I have ever met. Had to leave after enquiry due to them being so hostile towards my friend and I. If I could say one thing to others, don’t go there, there are plenty of other lovely places where the staff are welcoming and happy

Response from Alexandra Thomson, Owner at Aiden House
Responded 11 Sept 2023
First off all Iv been advised from Trip Advisor from a call made with them today at 6.12am to respond to this. have reported it and the team will be in touch with in 5 days. Good Morning Thomas, Thank you for the review that you threatened to write while in my carpark for not even 2 minutes yesterday Sunday, CCTV footage will show this. Also thank you for the 1 star review, first one in 4 years. The problem with this one is your never booked, you never entered my house so therefore you never stayed thankfully. You rock up at my house wanting a room, I told you I was fully booked in the B&B and offered you a self catering shepherd hut and you laughed in my face. You told me your budget was £50 for the two off you as you were students so ltold you the youth hostel is that way and I pointed to the left. You then started being abusive and threatened me with a review and then my husband came and he said one word to you and never raised his voice, he said drive. Sorry but just because your students you don't get a discount, the price is the price and £50 for the 2 off you that's 2009 priced. The youth hostel will charge that. Aiden house opened its doors in 2010 as is a very well established business which has glowing 5 star reviews because we are friendly and I love my job and put everything into it and that's why I get all the 5 star reviews plus lots off returning guests. I work everyday from March to the middle off October working 12 to 14 hours everyday to provide a service. If you or anybody else thinks they can come to my family home door and be abusive you can think again as I will not tolerate that behaviour. It's actually disgusting how you have came on and slammed down a good business after what's going on with hospitality just now. The whole off Scotland has to get licenses and rightly so but lots are closing there doors come the end off September for good so on your point telling other people not to come to Aiden House that there lots off other lovely places well after September they'll be a massive decline in accommodation in Scotland and on the NC500, I will be applying for the new licence. Also where staff are happy. We don't have staff and l'm a very happy person and a good person that will bend over backwards for my guests and even for visitors that are looking for accommodation when I’m full and that shines out on my glowing 5 star rating and reviews. You come to the Highlands chancing your hand wanting very cheap accommodation, sadly running a business is very expensive even up here. Enjoy the rest off your holiday & Best Wishes, Alexandra

Can I give 6 stars? Well, thank you very much Alexandra, our stay was awesome. I really left a piece of my hearth in the west Highlands, so hopefully we'll meet again. Everything perfect, quiet and peaceful place, beautiful view, beautiful sunset, beautiful hikes and sorroundings. Very big and cozy room, and delicious breakfast cooked at the moment. It was a pleasure to chat with you and to stay at your beautiful house.

Well, what can I say? I did the NC 500 this year and got booked on this lovely accommodation. When I arrived, the hostess, Alexandra, was on point, almost as if she had been waiting for me. She gave me a very warm feeling to be welcomed into her home. Very neat rooms, beautiful arranged furniture, comfy bed. She had some good tips for exploring the area, always a vivid mind and an open heart for any kind of problem one might bring along. Of unspeakable beauty were the sunsets and sunrises behind her house, seeing rabbits roaming around and sheep peacefully eating grass. Hiking areas to beautiful shores, Lochs and Hills just around the corner. Very peaceful and calming area! Sure will return

Our first time doing the NC500, we had a plan all mapped out and came across this gorgeous place along our route. Absolutely immaculate place, the hosts were amazing and the five star breakfast was to die for which caters for all dietary needs. Waking up in the morning to spectacular views was just something else and the picturesque views that will stay with us forever This place needs to be on everyone’s journey ( it will be on ours from now on) as you will not be disappointed

We stayed here to go to the Highland Gathering and to explore the area. Literally the only downside to our stay was that we hadn't booked for longer! We were sad to leave! The house is beautiful, situated high up so that the views are spectacular. Our room was room 1, which had double aspect windows so we could see the dramatically beautiful coastline and the mountains. The bed was so comfortable and the room was spotless with everything you need for a lovely stay - tea, coffee, biscuits, mints, a brilliant shower and comfy chairs. You can watch rabbits hopping around just outside, take in the beautiful backdrop which is mesmerising, eating biscuits and sipping coffee. Honestly, what more could you want? Breakfast was superb with loads of options on offer - all beautifully prepared and delicious. We can recommend the smoked salmon and kippers in particular and the fresh fruit bowl was perfect. It set us up for the day. Alexandra and Kenny really go out of their way to ensure your stay is wonderful. Alexandra is knowledgeable about the area and the sights and honestly, nothing is too much trouble. We have stayed in tons of hotels and B&Bs as you will see from our reviews and Aiden House stands out as exceptional. We even enjoyed free parking at Aiden House after we had booked out to attend the Highland Gathering. Anyone not giving this place 5 stars wants their head seeing to, or is just completely unreasonable. As experienced travellers, we highly recommend this place and can't wait to go back. Having only scratched the surface of this beautiful place, we hope to be back soon!
