Travellers' Choice
The Kylesku Hotel is set in the true Scottish Highland wilderness. Wherever you look, it will be calling you. Our aim is simple, showcase the ingredients the area has to offer, simply cooked. Our shellfish is fished sustainably and responsibly. We like our Scallops hand dived and our prawns/langoustines creel caught. The Kylesku started its life as a small inn back in the 1680s. Tanja & Sonia purchased the wee place late 2009, and have since created a restful, soulful place for you to use as a base to explore Sutherland & the North West Coast of Scotland. You might be driving the NC500, discovering the bird life or enjoying a grand walk. You will be welcomed even if you have been camping for 2 weeks! There will be a crispy fish and chips, a warming spicy vegetable curry or even a rare breed steak with your name on it. The bar is well stocked with local gins and whisky, a good ale and a good selection of non-alcoholic drinks. Open for breakie, lunch and dinner. Just come in!

We stayed here for my partners 50th birthday. The room (Willies House) was nice overlooking the loch (albeit overlooking public toilets whose lights stayed on all night). We got a lovely welcome from the owner/manager, prosecco and chocolates in the room which was lovely, they even supplied a birthday cake. We went for our meal in the evening and it just went downhill from there. My partners Cullen Skink was like water, i have the whole crab which has obviously been frozen or the fridge was that cold that bits of ice had formed in the meat in the legs. I sent it back and wasn't charged for it, I ordered a burger but didn't touch it as i was so upset with the quality of food on such a special occasion. One of the waiters we found plain rude. The following morning we went down for breakfast, my partner had poached eggs which were rock hard. At this point we had had enough and just wanted to leave. The bill for one night was over £300.00, it is just not worth the money. We wont be returning. The nicest of the manager does not outweigh the problems they have with the food.

A peaceful stay in Kylesku hotel with superb scenery. Very comfortable room in Wiilie's hoose with wonderful views. Very attentive and friendly staff. Only disappointment was little choice of seafood and venison and vegan menu very poor.

We stopped for lunch at Kylesku Hotel during our road trip around Scotland in September-October 2021. This hotel is just off the west coast NC500 route, and makes for an easy lunch stop. We did not book, and were shown to a table without delay. There are great views of the Kylesku Bridge and the loch. There was a great choice of food, and I loved the local beers flight (shown in my photograph). The loch was used for testing and launching X-Class mini submarines during WW2 (the ones that attacked Tirpitz), and there is an interesting display (see my photo) to read on the restaurant wall.

We were visiting the highlands in a camper van and due to incoming Storm Arwen decided to stop at the hotel for two nights. Very warm welcome from all staff. Beautiful location. Enjoyed dinner and some drinks on both nights, very good quality. Highly recommended.

We enjoyed our 3 night stay. The service was fabulous from the staff especially from Fraser and Monique. They were fantastic. The breakfasts were delicious and we enjoyed our dinners and it was a real treat to meet the great chef. We also really loved sitting by the log burner .......so relaxing. Thank you to Simone for organising the charging of our car. We are grateful and it was nice to meet you.
