Traditional hotel with very Scottish feel. Lovely wooden details and tartan carpets made it feel authentic. Location is excellent too. HOWEVER, this is where the positives end I'm afraid!

Very musty, unclean smell as soon as we entered reception area. Wallpaper throughout was very dated and not in good condition. Furniture was ok as it added to the authentic feel. Telephone area was used as a dumping ground, which I found quite unusual given that all guests can see it!

Receptionist was friendly enough although we received very little information about amenities so had no idea where anything was.

Room was big enough for what we needed and bed was extremely comfy, although pillows were very flat and no spares were available in the room. Shower was terrible as it was either freezing or scalding hot. The temperature could also fluctuate while you were in the shower (as happened with my partner who was slightly scalded!). The bathroom is odd in that it is very dark (we had no window) and no lights in the shower area so when shower curtain was closed, you could barely see what you were doing. Kettle supplied in room but only paper cups and 2 milk portions.

The bar (when we found it) was very overpriced - £15.60 for 2 drinks and the barman was not very polite (3 times I asked a question before I received a reply!) Also bar was closed by 10pm so no drinks or snacks available, which wasn't great given that everything in the vacinity of the hotel closed early. Also the hotel was locked up for the night very early and my partner couldn't get outside to vape/smoke.

Breakfast was fine but bagpipe music playing first thing in the morning was a bit much, especially at the volume it was playing! A bit of ambience wouldn't go amiss.

The gardens at the front of the hotel were interesting (various fruit & herb plants) but very neglected and bushes were overgrown (couldn't open the window in our room very far because of this).

We made do as the room was clean enough and the bed was comfortable but all in all, the room was very overpriced. Clearly, they are charging for the location!

Such a pity, as I think this would be a really lovely place to stay if there was a little TLC spent on it.

This hotel gave us exactly what we needed -- a place to sleep for the night on our way down the Great Glen Way. The staff was friendly and helpful but other than that the room was very small and uncomfortable, with bulky, standard (sterile) hotel furniture, the shower could not keep a consistent temperature, and the outdated hairdryers kept overheating and stopped working. WiFi did not stretch to the rooms. There is so much potential for this gorgeous building but there are surely much nicer places to stay in Drumnadrochit given its current condition.

The hotel is sparesly manned, you have fill in forms for your breakfast and specify a time. I suspect this is run as some form of annexe to the Clansman hotel. We were not greeted effectively, had to carry our own bags to the room. The hotel setting is spectacular and the room was clean and reasonably well equipped, no mini bar no facilities. This is not a 5 star hotel and is not worth £300+ per room per night. This room was worth no more than £150.

Dirty rooms. Old fashioned and out dated Hotel. No running hot water yet the staff were very sweet & friendly!

I paid £135 for a 1x night stay at the Loch Ness Lodge Hotel and this was over priced by at least double in my opinion. The first thing to note is the pungent musty smell that greets you in reception and in the bar (presumably where the chimneys have not been swept in a while) and the rancid mouldy & dusty smell that carries throughout the hotel room (#54). Additionally, the water stained ceiling, paint peeling off the wall, cobwebs in every corner, noise from the kitchen staff emptying bins underneath our room until late into the night and the obvious gap in the bathroom window to the outside made our stay an unwelcoming and rather scary experience! Needless to say myself, two children (age 11 & 7) and even my husband didn’t sleep well, in fear of sleeping in the worst hotel of horrors! The entire hotel was unbelievably dated. For £135 per night I at least expected shampoo and conditioner and a mug with a teaspoon to make a tea / coffee in the morning; instead there were paper coffee cups and nothing to stir the sugar with! The TV had no signal. The floor was dirty and it was apparent the room had not been cleaned for weeks. Don’t be tempted to stay here as it was the worst hotel we had stayed in.

The hotel is old, dated, room smelt of being damp and not aired.
Given two throw away cups for hot drinks, 1 tea bag, 1 sachet of coffee, 1 sugar and two milks, but NO spoons.
The kettle electric lead was too short and had to balance it on the edge of the counter.
Bed uncomfortable, no bath towels only hand towels.
No disabled parking.
No lift.
The bar was closed at 10pm due to having no staff.
Walks thin so one could hear the next room’s television.
The male staff member was rude, ignorant and arrogant.

The only saving grace was that the chef served very good food food.

Definitely not three stars, definitely not worth the monies.
Definitely not going back…..

The worst hotel I've ever stayed in.
Does that raise suspicions and make you think you should book elsewhere - I hope so.
Dirty and run down, in fact dangerous in some areas. The staff on the whole were not very pleasant, with the odd exception.
Overall decor is from the 70s, at best. It is tacky, and worn being description.
Our room... The floor was dirty. There was cobwebs everywhere. The curtains were hanging off the rail. There were dead insects in the undersink cupboard. There was a layer of dust in the bedroom drawers. The bed had a screw head sticking up. In the bathroom the heated towel rail electrical fitting was barely hanging on with black tape. But worst of all, there was a 13cm 'slug' crawling around the edge of the bath watching me have a poo.
Someone said the food in the restaurant was good. I ordered fish it had a long hair in it. I didn't complain though, because less than 30 mins earlier when I asked the guy behind the bar for a menu he told me he was very busy and couldn't get me one, and yet they were right in front of him  So complaining about a hair would not have motivated him any more than me wanting to actually purchase a mesl would have done.
We were a large party those two nights we were there. Everyone in the group had problems. Not least my neice, who was promised a room with 4 beds but was given only 3.
My son had a similar problem with his towel rail, except his was actually hanging off where the black tape had parted and you could see the electric connections. On top of that his wife got an electrical shock from one of the room sockets.
There was a pungent musty smell, everywhere, in some areas worse than others.
The garden areas were overgrown.
Breakfast was very good (= no hair).
Please do not waste your money on this absolute dive of a hotel.

We loved the Loch Ness Lodge Hotel. It is as if from a bygone age when quirkiness, authenticity, a slow pace, a cosy vibe and a friendly welcome was de riguer. Donald and his wife are a constant presence as he presides over his enthusiastic, friendly, well informed and focussed team. The original building has been a seventeenth century lodge, a bank and a hotel. The whole place is themed in suitably quirky fashion with different tartan of varying clans covering virtually all flat surfaces. The dinning room and bar are part of the original building and deliver a completely authentic Highland design and decor. This is a simple and honest hotel, totally unique and special. Located by some fantastic treks high up into the nearby hills, with sensational views and great exercise. It is well located for exploring further up and down the loch and also to Glen Affric where even more exciting treks await. There is a Nessieland on the site which will provide a great distraction for families with kids.

This is a really quaint, quiet hotel to stay at if you're near Loch Ness! Everyone at the hotel was extremely nice and accommodating, especially Norah at reception who went out of her way to help and keep me company while I had some car trouble during my stay. They had a great free breakfast each morning, and the dinner at their restaurant was pretty good as well, convenient since everything around the hotel closes early. The rooms are admittedly a bit dated, but they're comfy enough to get a good night's sleep. Everything else more than made up for it!

The most picturesque hotel I’ve ever stayed in! My absolute favorite part of this stay was the bar area, which had a cozy loft, soft leather sofas, and a warm fire. Mohamed was an INCREDIBLE server and was always willing to bend over backwards to make us feel comfortable and welcome.

We did have some trouble with the heat in the rooms, but with some socks and a sweater it was very comfy.

Potentially the worst hotel we have ever stayed in. From the moment you entered the building the pungent smell of mould/dampness hit you. It was in all public areas and the stench in the room was unbearable. My husband contemplated moving to the car at 3am to try to sleep as the smell invaded his sinuses.
The restaurant food was excellent despite the rude service every diner received from the manager/owner. He should not be front of house.
To have paid 140 GBP ($279) for this is a joke.

I Just want to add that today, 8 months after this all happened, I received an apology from a lovely staff member, Irene, and the payment refunded. I thought this was a really nice gesture after so long.
