Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Think hitch hikers hostel and you will get an idea of what this place is like. We had a room in the portacabin, which shook as people went pass in corridor. Sound proofing poor. Twin which was barely adequate in size. Receptionist friendly and helpful but not worth the price. Especially, room only. There is a real lack of local amenities after 4pm.

Very basic, checked in and went to the room ( round the back in a very old building) to find it had not been cleaned from the previous guest, so put us in another room in the main building which was a little better. No food or Sri is available after 5pm (off season) but still got charged £90! Had bacon sandwich for breakfast, which was not nice at all, undercooked and full of fat, the staff however were really nice and friendly. The hotel needs a re vamp, considering they must get visitors from all over the world it should have been a lot better.

We were here 2 nights, sub-standard food, burger was so over cooked it was inedible, had to be changed and still awful Lodge was awful, very poorly wooden cladded, thin walls so could hear next door, mould in bathroom and bedroom, disgusting Very uncomfortable bed Contacted booking.com, and they contacted the hotel. No one said anything to us The pictures they show are not a true likeness to what you actually get Very over priced for what we got. do not recommend

Our room was in one of the annex buildings and in need of an update. The walls were lined with wood which reminded us of a lodge however the bed was uncomfortable and probably needs replaced. The bathroom ventilation was subpar and left a musty damp smell. On the flip side the staff were exceedingly helpful and nice. The restaurant’s food was also quite nice

Best night sleep I had while in Scotland. Room was small, but clean, clean, clean! We were worried that the squeaky hallway would mean a noisy night if people walked by, but didn’t hear it all. I had had a pretty rough day, but the warm welcome we had from the gentleman at the front desk started a turn around in my day. He was helpful, gracious, and gave great advice about things to do and see. And in the evening, he helped me carry/run my late night snacks (cheese board and desserts) through the rain to my door. Not sure of his working hours, but he always seemed to be at the front desk! The ladies behind the bar at the upstairs restaurant were hilarious and worked really well with each other, as well as providing great customer service. Wi-fi was good. Electric showers had great water pressure and obviously, plenty of hot water. Comfy bed. Coffee and tea in room with cute novelty cups; and cups were a nice size (proper cupper in the morning). No lift and thicker carpet, so easier to carry cases than drag them. Plenty of parking in back. Close to most things at Loch Ness and only about 2 miles to Urquhart Castle.

The friendly staff save this from being a thoroughly unpleasant place to stay the night, but it's a challenge. After the Victorian hotel next door was gutted to house an expensively naff 'Nessie' visitor attraction, the accommodation remaining is a weather-beaten old 1970s annex with all the charm of a Cold War youth hostel. It's clean enough, to be fair, although the slight whiff of damp pooch endures. The boiler works too well, if anything, and the shower will provide water at Hot, Very Hot, Scalding and Aff Tae Infirmary Wi' Ye temperatures; should you want it cooler, the loch is nearby. If this doesn't entirely appeal, and Drumnadrochit's limited charms seem unlikely to detain you for a whole night, Inverness alternatives are not far away.

Just dropped in for a snack lunch, dreadful! Panini dry, no filling to speak of, chips raw! Tasted of raw potato! Being diabetic I was needing carbs quickly, but resorted to glucose tablets to get me yo a place with better food!

Stayed one night as everything busy. Firstly the place is very disjointed and signs unclear of where to park / check in etc and I’m from Scotland. The reception seems unmanned most of the time and the lady that was on duty run off her feet in coffee shop and restaurant. The room was over priced and basic for the £159 paid to be honest bedding basic and towels cheap and thin. Room in buildings at rear of hotel very dark with no view bar a hedge to look at. Bins a mess at back of hotel and all looked run down. The shower no great pressure was low and noisy. I had dinner in the bar upstairs the staff very attentive however it is very rundown and needs a total refurb it was all very chaotic the lady serving had been “on her feet since 7am “and it showed The meals were average but really come on it’s not a warm welcome for visitors to Scotland ! I opted for breakfast in the coffee shop and was greeted by lady rolling her eyes as it wasn’t quite 8am ! For those working a 7am breakfast is needed in hotels. The breakfast was overpriced for what it was No one on reception to check out on departure I wouldn’t use again tbh.
