Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Bit of a weird review considering I never actually made it here but it's really been bugging me. Having booked a £155 room B&B for one night whilst on a bike tour, I didn't think that my bike was going to make it. So I called on the day I was meant to arrive and said that I would have to cancel. The nice lady told me that she couldn't offer me a refund as it was too late in the day. At the time, stressed as I was with my bike, I thought fair enough. She also informed me that they had 3 vacant rooms. But thinking about it now, I'm furious. It's fair enough to charge someone if they cancel less than 24hrs notice when a hotel or B&B are full and may have turned people away. But they had 3 empty rooms already. So me not turning up cost them nothing at all yet they still charged me the full £155 which I think is not only unfair, but taking the you-know-what. Tell me if I'm wrong, but I don't have cash to splash so to me, this seems like harsh and plain old un-necessary money grabbing. Surely a full refund, or even a part refund would have been fairer. So no, I can't recommended nor will I be booking a room there in future.

Sorry you feel this way. We have a cancellation policy to safeguard our business, we've lost too much money in the past from last minute cancellations. We had turned others away prior to your cancellation as they wanted a twin room. What you failed to mention was I would open room and if we got another booking would give you a full refund. There are several garages that help lots of others on the route when the unexpected happen and help them get to their destination.

Outstanding experience with great hosts. We stayed here to tour Isle of Skye. The location is 2 hours away which I wasn’t expecting. I was pleasantly surprised by the beautiful (but slightly difficult drive) to Applecross. What a pleasant surprise to find such a beautiful spot with few crowds. The location (while remote) is breathtaking. “Hairy coos” nearby with nice restaurants (make a reservation in advance). Beautiful coastline. Very comfortable accommodations and great breakfast. This location is a winner!

This is one of the best that we have ever stayed in. We went with my wife, sister and brother in law. Moray and his lovely wife are supreme hosts and quite frankly they have thought of everything. I cannot recommend this B&B enough!

This was our first time staying in a B&B. Moray and Marion were so welcoming and fantastic hosts. The room was spotless and the whole house was beautifully decorated with everything you could think of. We had the Scottish breakfast while watching pine martins eating shortbread. What more could you want? We would definitely return here!

Moray and Marion had thought of everything. We have stayed in many B&Bs but this was way up there as one of the best. If I had forgotten to bring something they produced it. The breakfast cooked by Moray was scrumptious whilst Marion imparted all her local knowledge. Being a coffee drinker, real coffee bags in the bedroom were the icing on the cake. Pine martins at the window were an added bonus.

We had a great stay at the Applecross B&B. Marion and Moray were great hosts and provided lots of helpful local information and a fantastic breakfast. A very peaceful setting with your own outside space to enjoy the break and watch the wildlife. Would definitely recommend.

Marion and Moray are just fabulous. So welcoming and knowledgeable and friendly. Marion has the most welcoming smiley face and couldn’t do enough to help all the guests. Superb breakfast from Moray. Really lovely room with a decked seating area and a brilliant honesty bar. Highly recommend.

While this B&B is certainly out of the way, we had a wonderful stay thanks to comfortable amenities, kind and friendly hosts, and of course the beautiful area. Getting to Applecross was an adventurous (scary) trek over the single lane mountain pass. Keep left, be observant of oncoming traffic or queues forming behind you so you can properly time using the passings places, and you should be just fine. The scenery on the drive is breathtaking and driving down to Skye was no problem whatsoever. It was actually nice to come back to someplace more secluded to relax and unwind. Marion and Moray were such wonderful hosts. Moray's full Scottish breakfast was absolutely delicious and very filling. There are plenty of other treats along with snacks and drinks available for a little extra. Marion was such a joy to chat with in the mornings. She's full of great information on the area and suggestions to help fill your day with activities. She's also inquisitive and interested in her guests and their stories. It's clear she loves what she does. Our bedroom was very comfortable and having an ensuite with a full bath was lovely. The other guests were courteous and friendly. I highly recommend Applecross B&B if you're looking to getaway and enjoy Scotland's beauty.
