Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Thank you so much for every comfort the lovely owners and their team provided during our short but wonderful stay. The house is beautiful, very well restored and refurbished, a very warm welcome was received immediately upon arrival. The offer of help with the bags, fresh milk for tea in the room, and what a room and bathroom, large, stylish, and filled with luxury products. We had dinner in the restaurant, the food was exceptional served by a friend waitress, enjoyed in a lovely atmosphere. We strolled round the grounds, and sat in the garden admiring the hotel and in awe of the dedication of the owners. (Take time to read the info folder in the room, such a page turner about the history of the hotel). I cannot wait to return. No faults to be found, and I do like things to be done properly!

We had a fantastic stay at this wonderful hotel for our first anniversary. Room 16 was perfect - spacious, comfortable, spotlessly clean, with a great view and the bath had a hidden TV screen above it! The owners and staff were all superb – seamlessly efficient, so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The food was also amazing, with imaginative and delicious flavours, easily worthy of a Michelin star.

We booked Coul house out for two days, for our Daughters wedding, where do I begin, the place itself is in a stunning location & gardens with great views. We’ve visited a few times & decided it was the perfect place as my daughter fell in love with it. The service was exceptional & the wedding celebrations ran smoothly, all the staff are a credit & nothing was too much trouble. The food was amazing so a big thank you to the chef! All our families travelled from all over, Wales, India, England & Australia. Everyone was impressed & had a fabulous time. A massive Thank you to Stuart & Susannah, you have helped to make such wonderful memories. I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Scotland to go & visit & we will definitely be visiting again

Nothing that is anything but perfect. Location, property, view, room, bed, food and last but definitely not least the staff. Wonderful gem for a (too) short weekend stay. I have seen many places in Scotland and this one is definitely making top 3 so far. I will be back!

This was an outstanding experience. The chef at this hotel is “master chef” material, I kid you not! Unbelievable location , charming rooms, very attentive staff and owners who care about your experience ! This is a must visit establishment . Ps we also had our wee doggie with us, as the hotel is pet friendly - he said he loved it - so we will be back.

Amazing hotel, hosting a family wedding with 1st class service, venue and experience. Cannot rate this place highly enough. Staff and owners were fantastic, and venue was perfect. Highly recommend this hotel, and we will be returning. Made to feel very much at home, which made the weekend relaxed and very enjoyable.

The owners and staff are all absolutely first class at this beautiful hotel. Nothing was too much trouble for them. We stayed over the weekend to attend our friends wedding. If I could give 10 out of 10 for service, friendliness and Highland charm it would still be too low! Thoroughly recommend for a stay, dinner or even afternoon tea.

Once you have stayed at the Coul House, you will be spoilt for any other hotel. This for me, is the standard by which I judge other hotels, and none so far have come up to Coul House standards. Comfy beds, scrupulously clean, warm and welcoming interior. A truly beautiful setting in which to spend Hogmanay. But 2 things in particular make this hotel stand out. Exceptional food, all cooked from fresh, and the warm welcome offered by every single member of staff. Staff will go out of their way to make sure that you have everything you need, including accommodating my troubling arthritis! Coul House soon becomes a second home and I cannot wait until I make the trip to North again!

If you are looking for the perfect wedding venue then this is absolutely the place to go! We had the most wonderful weekend spent with all our loved ones at Coul House hotel. Every single member of staff was so professional, attentive and lovely. Nothing was too much trouble and we couldn’t have wished for a better venue. I couldn’t believe how seamless everything was. The way the staff managed to turn around the main room was impressive! The room was adapted for every part of our day, breakfast, ceremony, dinner then dancing and the happened almost as if by magic. We had around 100 or so guests in the evening and initially I was a little worried that things might seem crowded but this was not the case at all. We enjoyed delicious food that our guests couldn’t stop talking about. Communication was superb and we were able to adapt some of the dishes to suit different dietary requirements with no trouble. The bedrooms were all spotless and housekeeping did a fantastic job too.
