Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Loved this hotel. Relaxed, good food, log fires everything you want on an October evening. Rooms were comfortable with everything you need. Staff were really friendly. As for the town of Cromarty, think local hero and you won’t be too far away.

A wonderful traditional hotel in an excellent location. The staff were friendly and helpful including giving us some good tips on lesser-known places to visit on the Black Isle. Food was pretty good and the overall stay was very pleasant. Would definitely stay again!

Booked the hotel through an App - was very last minute and fancied a night away somewhere we hadn’t been. Cromarty and the Royal Hotel became our destination. Great location, good parking, Hotel was very well decorated and had kept a hold of the local feel of the town. Room was a king room and it was quirky and comfy with views over the firth to Invergorden. Dinner was amazing - local Sourced fish with the chips for main was the best I have had in a long time and we are from a fishing village. The staff were first class from the very confident young lady behind the bar when we arrived to Jenny, the owner, who pinged us straight away when we appeared for dinner and made us feel right at home ( the bottle of chilled Moet was a great touch as well with dinner👍👍) Breakfast was a great selection and all freshly prepared. All in All a great wee first trip up and will be back very soon. Make sure you book direct with the Hotel 👍

Booked and had a fantastic lunch . Staff beyond accommodating and friendly .. welcomed our 6 month old and made us feel so at ease. Food was amazing ( pulled burger and Cullen Skink) No room for puds due to the generous size of the portions . Such a lovely place , friendly, great choice of food .. would consider staying here just on the great welcome and food.

Fantastic meal with great hospitality and a real friendly feel. The views from the restaurant out to the water are just fabulous. Everyone in our party had different meals and everyone was cooked perfectly. Will definitely be returning :)

My family had a fantastic experience at the Royal Hotel. Jenny, Alick & Ellie (the cutest little dog) greeting us personally during dinner and breakfast. Not many hoteliers will do that! The rooms are spacious and quite comfortable. The food is great as well. We will certainly try to be back soon!

I stayed here for one night and booked on the day I stayed. The room was cosy and clean though my bed and pillows weren't the most comfortable. I didn't have a sea view room but I could still see the water. The staff were lovely and friendly and couldn't do enough for people. The breakfast was huge and I noticed other guests having a lot of courses. I didn't have dinner there but wished I had based on the quality of the breakfast. The hotel is in a great location if you want to walk round and explore Cromarty.

Beautiful historic building, gourmet food, picturesque Scottish coastal village, and attentive staff! Our room had a view over the firth with amazing sunsets. The bed was comfy, the room was large and nicely furnished, and the bathroom had a huge soaking tub! The included breakfast was plentiful and really, really good! We ate dinner in the restaurant both nights and loved it!! Quality, gourmet level food at reasonable prices. Everyone who worked there were tops at their jobs and so friendly! We felt like e were staying at a friend's house! And the host dog, Ellie, is awesome!!

Jenny and her team pulled out all the stops for us all to meet and celebrate my mums 70th. The food, setting, drinks and all staff were first class. Personally I had scallops to start, chicken main and a cheese plate and it was all delicious.
