Called here several times now for food and drink. Staff are normally pretty hard going and don't exactly go out of their way to welcome you ( unless you're local ). Food has been decent enough but our most recent visit will probably be our last. To explain, we arrived early afternoon and decided to have drinks and coffees outside...

Margaret and I were in the area for a weekend break, my wife's ancestors are/were from the Black Isle and as she's presently engaged in researching that side of her family tree we decided to explore where they were born, married, died and were buried. Our travels took us to the village of Cromarty. Margaret was feeling a bit peckish...

Loved this place, very comfortable cosy rooms with a stunning view of the Cromarty firth from our window. Breakfast was delicious, loved the smoked salmon. Dinner was great too, very reasonably sized portions. I wish we'd stayed longer, would definitely recommend.

We have just spent a night here and enjoyed a very comfortable visit. We know Cromarty well and had a last-minute 24 hours here. We dined at the Royal several years ago and are most impressed by the new owner's refurbishment. This traditional hotel is welcoming and comfortable. Our room (1a, one of the superior rooms) was lovely - spacious,...

Visited cromarty for family wedding. Beautiful hotel and the view out to cromarty firth is equally impressive. breakfast was excellent as was the food at the family dinner we arranged on night before the wedding. The owner, Jenny, was always around to ensure all the guests were happy.

As part of a group we were visiting this fascinating village of Cromarty and our driver had booked us into the Royal for lunch. However he was new to the route , took a wrong turn and ended up parking some distance from the Hotel so most of the group chose to snack in local tea rooms. We wandered off...

Stopped by for Lunch and were presented with the most ginormous plate of Langoustines - tasting of the sea and looking gorgeous. One of us also had local Crab, which was only spoiled by the liberal use of a Marie rose sauce. in future would ask for no sauce. Wine by the glass and seats available in the conservatory overlooking...

I stayed here for the first time combining some business with a visit to the black isle. I asked for and got a room with adequate IT and phone signals. The room was a superior with sea views. Standard was ok but not high class but I considered it value for money. The evening meal was good quality, portions and...

The staff at this hotel were absolutely great. They managed to book us in an extra day at really short notice when my mother took ill and we could not continue our journey from Ullapool to Tongue. Cromarty was to be our last stop but the extra day was perfect as the sun shone both days. The rooms were outstanding...

walked Into what seemed a very busy pub. Asked at the bar if there was any chance of a table. No problem! guided to the hotel lounge and was told a table would be ready shortly. Five minutes later we were shown to our table and offered the menu. Starter and main of superior quality although portion size was rather...
