Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Lovely little place right on the loch. Our room was quirky but everything we needed. Great breakfast but the highlight was the amazing meal in the bar next door with the two fellas excellent service. I had superb mussels, a top bottle of fine and an amazing pie of yellow shoes to be jealous of. Our tip is to go easy on the honesty bar. We hit it a bit hard and had a big bill the next day.. worth it though. We’ll be back

Brilliant stay! A really traditional small hotel. Had a lovely twin room with a view over the loch, the room had two big comfy chairs by the window for watching seals/eagles etc. Beds were really comfy. The room and bathroom were slightly dated and the bathroom had a very noisy fan but we had a great sleep here and everything was clean and functional. Staff were lovely, we had dinner in the bar which was really good. They even wrapped us up some breakfast sandwiches as we didn’t want to leave our dog in the car while we ate breakfast as it was a warm morning. Would definitely return

A stunning boutique hotel in the quiet, remote village of Shieldaig. We were greeted with a warm welcome by a young girl, and booked in for dinner next door in the restaurant. The hotel room was spacious, had excellent views, a large bathroom with a bath, a dressing table, and came fully equipped with an iron, hair dryer, bath mat, water, kettle, a variety of teas, coffees and biscuits, with lovely mugs and glasses, and even a teapot. The staff at the hotel were kind, attentive and professional, and honestly couldn’t do enough for us. The hotel room had Highland Soap Company shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion, and sanitiser which smelled amazing. The bed was very comfortable and everywhere was clean and tidy. The village has a shop and cafe, and plenty of walks and things to see and do. The breakfast at the hotel was the option of continental (fruits) and cooked breakfast, including traditional Scottish breakfast with haggis, Lorne and potato scone, and there’s also local fish dishes available. There was parking available outside the hotel, with stunning views of the loch. There’s sitting rooms downstairs with a telescope so you can look out. Would definitely recommend.

A lovely hotel tucked away in a quiet village. The rooms were comfortable and well thought out. The decor has been thoughtfully arranged with beautiful art and small details. We had a good dinner at the bar which had a decent sized menu, darts and a pool table. There is a convenient shop next door that is well stocked and a honesty bar in the hotel. Nice breakfast available in the morning. The location is absolutely stunning, and our room had a beautiful view overlooking the sea. Definitely recommend!

We had a large bright clean room with a very comfortable king size bed. Great views from three bedroom windows across the water. The ensuite was huge with a massive shower but the floor was sad and in need of replacement. Dinner that night was very good with friendly staff and excellent service. Breakfast was of the same standard. Would definitely recommend accommodation and meals.

A beautifully quaint bnb nestled on the shore. All amenities nearby to include a general store and a lively bar attached. But it was the quality of the food that made the stay outstanding. With locally sourced seafood and traditional Scottish cuisine we ate in the bar both evenings and enjoyed the breakfast selection which was equally as delicious.

I made 10 reservations for our 14 nights in Scotland and this was the only disappointing stay...and the most expensive. The place does have a good view but really not worth the money. We were not greeted by anyone when we arrived. The room was small and in need of some serious updating. Really disappointing since reviews here were so positive. Dinner and breakfast ok...but I would recommend moving on.

Stayed one night, had room 4 at the front of hotel, amazing views across to bay. On entry very clean & tidy please mind your heads going up the stairs! Room was ok nice view out & on suite. If you have room 4 there is no TV, strange I think other rooms had them. We ate in restaurant, the food was very good & had a good range on the menu plus specials. Hotel is dog friendly, but no dogs in the restaurant. Breakfast was nice with the normal range of hot & cold food. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Fantastic location but you do pay for it. Very small room zero view pokey bathroom no TV all for £235 per night. Thankfully our stay was rescued by dinner at the adjoining restaurant also owned by the hotel. Food was excellent and service first class. Breakfast in the morning was also first class the hotel is what it is from a time gone by. They are obviously maximising the view and the fact that they are the only hotel hence the room rate

Had a meal 2 years ago really enjoyed it and said we would return. 2 years on, we called for our evening meal, really looked forward to it but was hugely disappointed. Absolutely ripped off . Portion of the pork belly would not have filled our 7 year old Grandson. Not good value at all. We should have complained but it was quite busy so we left without saying anything. Needless to say we won't be returning again.
