Recently stayed at the hotel for a few nights, stayed in the cabins. They were lovely, clean comfortable and warm. Very neatly presented and comes with tea and coffee station hair dryer and towels. Plenty of options for breakfast and meals and a wee pub up the back with pool and jukebox. The staff at the hotel couldnt be more... More

Claims to be most northerly hotel but there is another similar accommodation further north but closed out of season. This hotel is very outdated but very friendly. It provides tea and coffee in the rooms. Hot and cold buffet breakfast. Bar is located adjacent to the restaurant. Dinner, not included in the price, was ok - a choice of 4... More

There aren't many places to stay on the island of Unst but my daughter and I were glad we chose to stay in one of the Baltasound's cabins. Rustic was the way to go when you're visiting this beautiful and rugged island in the North Sea. The room was very small but adequate for two...no more even though there seemed... More

You will soon realise that the island of Unst offers very limited choice when it comes to accommodation, however whilst the main building at Baltasound hotel is an attractive a majority of the rooms are in purpose built annexes/cabins. Upon arival I received a very warm welcome and shown to my room. Warm & clean best describes, but adequate. As... More

For many years we have stayed here with the Shetland Wildlife group, both summer and autumn. We love the slightly quirky cabins which are warm and cosy and do not mind the short distance to the main hotel. The staff have always been friendly and helpful and the meals are filling and well cooked. Unst is a memorable place, but... More

For the last few years I have stayed here with the group Shetland Wildlife. I love the little wooden cabins, they are cosy and warm and have everything you need from tea and coffee, hairdryer, heating, tv. The food is great with a good amount of choice and I like the new addition of the buffet breakfast. Staff are always... More

We are repeat visitors (every year since 2009 at least once a year). Our visit this year was excellent. The staff could not be more helpful - nothing was too much trouble. The food was good even though we were table d'hote as part of a guided tour. Table service was efficient and friendly and the new buffet breakfast was... More

I visited this hotel with Shetland Wildlife, it is the most northerly hotel in Britain. Cosy wooden cabins are clean and functional. The quality of the home cooked food was exceptional and there is a good buffet breakfast. There are many local attractions and for wildlife enthusiasts this is an ideal base with 2 National Nature Reserves close by.

My next visit to Unst will involve at least two nights here. The food is fantastic, and the rooms are very cozy. There are several guest houses behind the main hotel. They are neatly decorated, clean, and well kept. They are also incredibly warm! The staff is extremely friendly, and the attached pub is quite nice for an after dinner... More

We were self catering in Westing Unst and had dinner 3 evenings at the hotel. The menu is varied and full of local produce cooked to perfection. Treat yourself to lobster if available it was divine as was the Shetland rib eye steak, lamb and seafood. The staff were lovely and everyone very friendly and helpful. To book you can... More
