Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Fantastic 3 day stay last weekend. Staff, food, cleanliness and overall ambiance could not be faulted. Both restaurant and bar areas very well appointed and relaxed. Both breakfast and dinner in The Rabbit was excellent and the staff could not be more attentive. First Class !!!

Hotel's Favourite
This 5 star hotel is welcoming with friendly staff. Breakfast excellent quality. Our room was too hot the first night, despite opening the window (there is no air conditioning) The pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi were very pleasant with a sea view along the pool.

We have visited on a few occasions and this was by far the best stay. Everything was perfect. The staff are truly outstanding. An amazing team at the moment. The food in the bar was fantastic and we had the Cullen Skink twice it was so good. The pricing in the bar and restaurants is great value for money. Thanks for making our little mid week get away one to remember.

We spent 3 nights in the hotel between Christmas and New Year. We booked through a travel company and everything was good until we went for our dinner at night. The booking we had with the travel company allowed us a two course meal each night, That sounds great until you find you have a choice of just 3 mains and 3 starters, all of which we really didn't want. We ended up having the same starter for 3 night and the same meal for 2 of the nights. They had a steak night while we were at the hotel. We asked reception if it was possible to have an allowance towards the steak and we would pay the difference. We got told that wasn't possible unless agreed with our travel company before we arrived. Very disappointing on the food front and ruined our trip. The hotel is very nice and the staff are mostly friendly. The room we had was small and the toilet was almost impossible to use. It was 6 inches from the wall. On the wall was a toilet roll holder. The only way to use it was to remove trousers, pants and straddle the toilet before collapsing on it. The toilet was big enough to have a better layout with more room. The window was also clear glass, not very good when doing gymnastics to get onto the toilet. Overall, I was really looking forward to this break but the hotel didn't live up to the standards I expected.

We have just returned from a wonderful 2 night stay with our daughter and our wee dog. From the moment we set foot in the hotel we felt relaxed and so welcome. Every single member of staff we encountered was so friendly and helpful. The hotel is absolutely beautiful. So warm and cosy. We had a king sea view room and it was spotless and very comfortable. We loved The Seal bar/lounge where we could go with our little dog who everyone fussed over. The food was delicious and we could have spent hours relaxing here. The spa is lovely and very relaxing. The loungers at the side are very comfortable. We went 3 times during our stay and thoroughly enjoyed it. We had our breakfast in The Rabbit. Again a beautiful area and the food was delicious. We really loved this hotel for us it was perfect and I can be quite fussy. Well done all at Marine Troon our only regret is that we couldn’t stay for longer. We will be back

What a gem this hotel down in Ayrshire is. The staff are a credit to the management of the hotel. Friendly, helpful and nothing is a problem. Rooms are exceptionally comfortable. Would have no hesitation in recommending.

Booked one night through Booking.com and upgraded to a Deluxe Double. Arrived and at check in were told that the service at breakfast would be slow if we arrived after ten. This seemed a little odd to start our weekend with a warning but we took it to mean they were perhaps short staffed and the next morning did go down for breakfast before ten - more of that to follow. Our room was room 104 and it was so small that we were actually taken aback. I can only imagine what it might have looked like had we not upgraded - no window, an outside WC? You literally could not swing a cat in it. The decoration was pleasant, apart from the quite unbelievable choice of carpet, but there were no bedside cabinets or drawers. Where were we supposed to put our underwear or charge our phones? The wardrobe space was very cramped and we had to ask for bathrobes to be brought up as there were none in the room, despite this being a feature advertised in the deluxe double. The girl on reception didn't sound too pleased when I very politely requested some, but a very pleasant lad delivered them soon afterwards. The bathroom was exceptionally narrow and other than a hook on the back of the door, there were no shelves to place your toothpaste, no glass for your toothbrushes etc. I joked (not with much humour) that I imagine a caravan toilet would be larger. The room did come with a mini bar, a hairdryer, an iron and an ironing board - though quite where you were supposed to find the floor space to use the ironing board was a puzzle - perhaps out in the corridor. Downstairs, the Seal Bar area was very nicely decorated, as were the entrance hall and the Rabbit Restaurant. At dinner we were escorted to a table and then asked to wait because it hadn't yet been cleared, we understood and waited. Finally we had dinner which was really disappointing and over priced though the dining area was a very pleasant space. At breakfast, we went down well before ten but the staff were already apologising at the entrance and there was a queue - no problem really - but then there were no glasses, and they had ran out of several items at the buffet, of course this happens, but the staff were dashing about so much none of them had noticed. We didn't order a cooked breakfast and you could actually see the relief on the waiter's face as they had already told us it would be a 20 minute wait at least. After we left, we had a "follow up" phonecall to check that we had paid for the use of the mini bar from our mini room. If we hadn't then fair enough, but my husband had specifically mentioned this on checking out, telling the girl the exact beer he had chosen. I have to say being chased up for £4 (which we declared and was their error) was a little cheeky after we'd paid almost £400 for one night with dinner. That really was beyond the pale. I never leave negative reviews for hotels and, in fact, am a great believer in being kind and fair - my numerous positive reviews of other establishments stand as evidence of this but this time I feel inclined to make an exception. We were so very disappointed and if you are considering this hotel you should do so in the knowledge that the reality of some rooms (even upgraded ones) are not realistically depicted on the website. In addition, we were absolutely disgusted to be accused of not declaring a drink from our mini bar. If travelling to Troon, I highly recommend The Piersland Hotel just round the corner where we have stayed before to find the food absolutely first rate, and the rooms spacious and well equipped. So, in future, I'll follow my own advice.

Lovely Hotel. Booked for my birthday. Receptionist was lovely and helpful, our luggage taken up to our room. Our room was fresh and clean, bed very comfortable, bathroom nice enough. It's an old hotel so the lobby was a bit dated. The pool was lovely and warm, sauna and steam room great. It was very busy so not enough places to sit or lounge but that's OK. Our meal at night was lovely and service terrific. Would eat there again. Wasn't overly keen on the cocktails... think there could be some work done on those especially considering the price of them. Wondered if there would be some music or entertainment on a Saturday night but there wasn't, so not really much to do really. Prompt breakfast service considering how busy it was. Otherwise, very happy with our stay. Had a great night sleep and great food so would be back again for sure.

We had the most amazing stay. A score of 10 is not high enough. From the moment we entered the hotel, staff instantly welcomed us and took our luggage. Every single member of staff displayed extremely high levels of professionalism, friendliness, and engagement in conversation and shared their local knowledge. We have stayed in many hotels, but The Marine Troon has been the most outstanding. Such a luxurious, stylish, and spotlessly clean and well maintained hotel. Enjoyed our spa treatment and leisure facilities. We will certainly let our families and friends know how amazing you all are. Take care and look forward to seeing you in the future.

A very good price for the midweek stay including dinner at the Rabbit. The hotel has recently been refurbished and is very smart. All of the staff were very helpful and it was really nice to see so many young members of staff in the team. Will definitely stay there again.
