Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stayed one night on way Ireland. Rooms with walk in shower on first floor. Had a lovely meal in the bar. Food was well prepared. Very good breakfast in morning. Just a short drive to Cairnryan. Queens Hotel is a very good place for a drink in comfort. Unfortunately not open on Wednesday Best place in Girvan for a drink.

We stayed here for two nights at the end of a two-week touring holiday in Scotland, the Southfield is very welcoming, and we found the bed to be the most comfortable of all the beds we slept in that holiday. The location is very good and the property has more than adequate parking. A generous supply of teas and coffee for the rooms. The breakfasts were excellent, well organised and laid out and the food was delicious. We had dinner on the second night and were really pleased that we did. Lovely home cooked food, ( the fish pie was delicious) with very friendly service and very reasonably priced, as were the drinks from the bar. Yes, It has been previously mentioned that the Southfield decor in some areas is a little tired, but it more than makes up for it in customer focus, comfort and cleanliness but above all value for money. All the staff were without exception friendly and very helpful.

This was a nice quiet friendly hotel. The rooms are well appointed, clean and quiet. Unfortunately no dinners were available, but breakfast was excellent. It was close enough to town to walk, if you want.

We spent a night in the Southfield. What a find. Beautiful room with the most comfortable bed and everything provided that you could think of. We had a delicious dinner that evening. No problem with gluten free options. Great food and service. Breakfast was wonderful. What a selection .... plenty of choice. Great porridge and cooked breakfast. Kept us going all day. We'd definitely return if back in the area.

I booked The Southfield mid week at last minute on a business trip. The staff were helpful and polite, the (third floor) room was very clean and had everything I needed for a short stay. TV, comfortable bed, good Wi-Fi, Tea & Coffee making facilities, fresh drinking water and even some shortbread. In the morning, the breakfast was first class. Being on the top floor, the water pressure in the sink hot tap and shower were not the best, but I got by.

I asked Sandra if they would be able to arrange some drinks for my in-laws arrival as an Anniversary surprise! She went over and above by arranging a bottle of prosecco, some beer, flowers, chocolates and a card! It was so kind of her to do that and I and my in-laws were so appreciative of that! She also sent me a picture of it all set up in the room! Couldnt ask for better customer service! Thankyou!!!

Back to my cheesy song titles again... .....First time in this hotel and definately wont be our last. We booked direct and Kerrie was so obliging . Two nights stay and wish it could have been more. We were visiting my folks in a care home locally and needed to be close by. We had passed the hotel many times before and always thought the building looked very elegant and its even more so inside. Its clean and fresh and love the high ceilings and the feature stair case. No lift but the walk to your room works off amazingly well cooked food we had and prepares you going down to work up an appetite for the cooked breakfast. I like the division between the bar area and the restaurant and people did eat in the bar but we wanted to sit in the restaurant. It was spacious and well in line with the covid regulations. The first night on arrival it was a lovely evening so we sat around the back in their beer garden area and enjoyed a lovely bottle or two of their Spanish Chardonnay pre dinner drinks. The meal we had the first night was for hubby the Prawn Cocktail and it had plenty of prawns and the sauce was a lovely mild Marie Rose Sauce. Well this gal loves a plate of lentil soup and it was homemade and well tasty. See the empty plates. Mains we had Steak Pie (again home made and who doesnt love a bit of puff pastry..yum) The meat inside the pie was plentiful and so tender. Potatoes cooked perfectly and new potatoes and just enough veg to compliment the meat. Me I splashed out on the Highlander steak see menu. Asked for rare and it was just right ( a wee bit goldie locks and the three bears). The Peppercorn sauce was lovely and creamy and enhanced the flavour of the sirloin. This lady knows how to cook !! Having beef we had a wee glass of Red Wine Merlot with the main and to finish a wee cheese board with a Port for me and an espresso for my hubby. Took a bottle of wine to bed and had a great sleep. Unfortunately we got back too late to enjoy a second nights dinner and hubby was looking forward to the Fish Pie ( maybe next time). Quite an extensive menu and choice to suit all tastes considering that this hotel caters for residents only. Walkers, workies, business people or anyone who fancies a wee night away. Within walking distance to the beach and town . Trips to Ailsa Craig and if you want to eat out a choice of Chinese , Indian, chip shop .Thanks guys for a lovely stay. First class !!!

The Southfield appears quite good from the outside and the reception areas are good.. but when we arrived we had to order breakfast at check-in.... ! ...not good, I want to choose my food on the morning. The whole place has more CCTV than Big Brother.. The room is tired and dated, bathroom door would not shut, hard to open windows, silly electronic thermostats on radiator that keep resetting too high.. and made a noise when trying to sleep, tap handle on bathroom sink kept coming off in your hand. The doors have huge return springs, so doors BANG when people go in / out. We wont return
