My husband and I visited the Walled Garden in July when looking to site our tourer for a few months, We met Dot and Barry who offered us a pitch on their site. We pitched our caravan there from July to October and we thoroughly enjoyed it. It’s the perfect place to relax and unwind, great walks around the site, our wee dog Poppy loved it. The site is well managed and maintained, toilets were always clean and maintained to a high standard . Lots of nice touches around the site like, plants, trees and quirky signs and things that makes the the site unique. Sadly we decided to move on, as we don’t feel ready to stay in the one place for too long, but we appreciate the warm welcome we got from Dot, Barry, Sam and Andy and also all our neighbours around us.

I don't normally do reviews as what one person likes another doesn't etc. However, I saw a recent post on here which I felt was unjust, hence the reason for my review. My cousin and one of her friends both have pitches at this site and I have been lucky enough to stay there numerous times with them. There is absolutely nothing to do at this site - nothing - no bars, restaurants, shops, etc......PERFECT! The site is peaceful, beautifully maintained grounds, gorgeous scenery and lovely walks. So is you're preferences lively DO NOT COME HERE! The site is VERY dog friendly, all that is asked of you is to keep them on lead and to take them off site to do their business as you dont want the grass turning yellow!! The toilet and shower facilities are spotless and well maintained. Wi-fi is a bit iffy, but our phones are with o2 and can use them as hotspots for TV, etc. Sometimes people write reviews just for badness and I believe the dummy was well and truly spat out with the review I'm referring to!!!! My advice is to ignore negative reviews, even my review! Give the site a visit for an overnight or indeed a weekend - it's certainly not expensive and make your own mind up. Nothing is too much trouble for the owners and if they can help in anyway they will. Dot, Barrie, Lucy, Sam and Andy keep up the great work.

Thank you to the owners Dot, Barry, Luna & Bella. We found the owners very accommodating. Nice clean, tidy, quiet site. Good clean facilities. Grounds well maintained with small areas left to nature, lots of butterflies! Great adults only, no loose children. Dogs on short leads. The only comments we have is to have a sign at the bottom to point newcomers to reception up the track. As like us, people assume reception is the house at the start of the track. We did apologise to your neighbour for disturbing her. Would definitely recommend.

Thanks for the brilliant review. Maybe a good point about reception, but tbh no one's ever told us they've stopped at The Cottage. Noted though. ✅️

What a find this was. Large walled garden with Adult only caravan and campsite. Everything is immaculate, from the grounds, to the toilet and shower blocks. Andy and Sam are a delightful couple, so welcoming and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble and they have added little extras, like pergolas and seats dotted around for people to enjoy. We stayed here after 9 days touring, for some relaxation. It was so peaceful, with a fabulous walk to a waterfall which our dog loved. We didn't want to do any more driving and had stupidly not bought bread before we went. Sam sorted us out with some bread from the Freezer and even some of her home grown tomatoes. There are washing machines, tumble dryers and ironing station. Everything in full working order. Everything maintained and spotless. we will definitely be back. Debbie, Bill and Mollie.

I have had a seasonal pitch on this site for a number of years. It’s a lovely peaceful site set in beautiful countryside with great walks for dogs. It won’t suit everyone but if it’s peaceful well kept surroundings you are looking for it’s here. Dot and Barry have invested a huge amount of time effort and money into getting the site to how it is today from when they took it over and they take great pride in their park. The facilities are spotless no matter what time of day you visit them, and so are the grounds. Yes there are a number of park rules which you get on any park you visi and I certainly don’t think they are unreasonable. Dogs are asked to be on a short lead and toileted off the park if possible. You are more than welcome to walk your dog around the paths in the park. Any other site I have been to has similar rules and usually have a dog exercise area for dogs to toilet. Here there are plenty of accessible areas through the wall that dogs can use. Yes you are asked to keep your seasonal pitch tidy and weed free but it’s your pitch therefore I would expect that. You are also encouraged to plant flowers and have a deck if you so wish. Other sites I have been on would charge you to have a decked area. I love this site and hope to be here for as long as I can. Dot and Barry are helpful, pleasant and always about should you need anything. The Wi-Fi has been an ongoing problem but unfortunately it’s at the mercy of open reach who are not the most responsive. I don’t see that dot and Barry can be held responsible for that they are trying to resolve the issues. As for using it sensibly I think that’s fair enough given the amount of users there will be using it. I can’t currently get the Wi-Fi at my van but it’s not a big issue. All in all I think this park is fabulous and suits me, it’s not perfect but where is perfect however it’s just perfect for me!

Well, where to begin! Before I go any further with this review, I have no doubt the management of the park will respond to my constructive feedback in their usual defensive way. So what did we enjoy about the park? It is adult only, it is very peaceful,it was private and off the beaten track, it is in good location and many of the other seasonal pitch owners were lovely and welcoming and the young lass that helps out was lovely, so polite... That's the positives. Now the part that the current management will likely disagree with. The site is not dog friendly as stated, they don't want them walked around the park, you have to take them outside the grounds for all walks. They didn't make us feel particularly welcomed or valued as a customers, so much so we stopped using our van for a few weeks and then packed up in August (we had planned to do this as we are heading to France) We have paid until the end of October, but we won't be using the site again, we had simply had enough by this point. They struggle with being criticised about anything. The customer here is never right! They become very defensive should you dare complain. Their customer service skills need a lot of fine tuning, we witnessed both of them being extremely rude to customers one evening, this for us was totally unacceptable and not warranted. They will likely disagree with this comment, but we looked after the ladies they left upset and treated them to a couple of drinks to make up for their appauling attitudes aimed towards them all over having a tent outwith it's boundary. Had the park been full, I could understand this, but there were many spaces empty. We constantly had to weed the area around our pitch, it's poorly maintained in parts. There are a lot of weeds around the park, pitches need more stones and levelled off. The site has so much potential, but far too many silly rules that are very unnecessary. WiFi was promised when we took the pitch on in March, It was finally available in July, and even then this was not offered to us. When I questioned it, Dot's bad attitude surfaced yet again, she was very defensive about it and finally a few weeks later we get the email telling us we could access this, to ask them for password and "use sensibly". I don't want to make this review a personal attack on anyone, but guys, customers however much you like or dislike them should be treated fairly and made to feel valued, we felt none of that from either of you. We paid for a service, in this instance your service was not what we expected, it fell way below. Sam and Andy were fab! Always polite and welcoming towards us, so thank you guys. I could say a whole lot more, but I think my review is fair and balanced. The Walled Garden has so much potential, but these issues I have highlighted put people off, and they are the reason why we have left a lot earlier than we should have.

We booked this site based on the fact it was adult only and looked very peaceful - we certainly weren't disappointed. Really lovely welcome from all the team there so a massive thanks to Barry, Dot, Andy & Sam for their wonderful hospitality. Facilities are clean and smell so fresh which is always a bonus on sites. Lots of nice dog walks but take your walking boots or wellies as it can get a bit muddy. Short 10 to 15 minute drive to local shop and farm shop. Will definitely be returning.

My husband and I visited recently with our camper van and dog Benji, it was so peaceful, the weather was a little wet but that didn't stop us from exploring the lovely walk to the waterfall. We normally go a little further in the camper, but as this was a last minute and was on our door stop we gave it a try and will Definity be back again soon, facilities were spotless and very dog friendly, only negative was no open fires allowed we like to sit round the fire at night a watch the stars.

Just back from a 3 night stay at this wonderful site, and will most definitely be back. We wanted somewhere dog friendly and quiet to camp - and this place was more than we could have hoped for. Run by Dot and Barry, the whole site is spotless and the toilet and shower facilities are immaculate - as was the laundry room where there are three sinks for campers to do their dishes. Our two dogs Rona and Jura enjoyed the stay too - a learning experience for us all as it was their first camp with us away from home. They particularly enjoyed the welcome biscuits from Barry. Lots of nature to see and hear on site, and plenty of walks. We enjoyed the wooded walk up to the Lady Glen waterfall. Can highly recommend this camp site and thanks to Dot and Barry who are friendly and helpful and who clearly invest a lot in making the camp site an enjoyable place to stay. Wished we could have stayed longer - will next time!
