Just returned after spending yesterday at this beautiful hotel/castle. Food was excellent. The room was immaculate, in fact everything was first class including Billy the duty manager. He is very welcoming friendly and extremely funny, especially whilst doing the private tour of the castle. He really made our stay and I hope this review is fed back to him. Would love to return.. So, my husband and I ( aka mummy and daddy night away) had the pleasure of staying at the Eisenhower hotel recently to celebrate my husbands birthday. We had been given this as a gift for Christmas, so even better! We upgraded to the Ailsa suite. This was lovely and spacious, crisp cotton bedding, a lovely bathroom, lovely outlook onto the sea. The no TV in the room was actually brilliant! To most, a man would have the tv on whether he was watching it our not, but to sit and have civilised conversation with a glass of champagne looking at the sea was lovely. We had lovely scones and coffee upon arrival, decided against the castle tour due to our slightly late arrival and wanting to relax. We went a walk round the castle later as the tour was still going on and were blown away by the artwork on the walls...or should I say guns and swords...amazing!!!! The Castle below does have an eery feeling to it...tonnes of history here! After reading up when I got home, Calzean may have had reports of some ‘Old’ returning historical guests from time to time. ( eek and wow!!) On the particular night my husband and I ( in our mid 40’s...did I just say that!?? Lol) definitely felt the youngest in town. We always dress up for dinner and we are foodies at heart. The dining room was filled with slightly older guests. ( or in the words of my husband..they were waiting for god ..lol,) but we chatted to a waiter who assured us that the week prior, there was a party of Mexican couples who had a ball!!!) Food was nice, I suppose being a tad precious on food, it was just nice. Part of our dinner was the 2 course deal. We didn’t actually realise that, and when asked if we wanted dessert, of course we did...£7.95 x 2 on checkout just in case you go with a voucher. All in all, we had a lovely, definitely different experience. I wouldn’t call it your average hotel...it doesn’t feel like a hotel. Is class it as an experience we are glad to have had.…
My husband and I stayed here for the night to celebrate his birthday (a surprise) It was everything I hoped it would be. The small hotel (at one time Eisenhower’s personal apartment) on the top floor of Culzean Castle was full of atmosphere, with many features retained. We stayed in the Ailsa Suite. A beautiful, spacious room with an equally large bathroom. Public areas consist of a drawing room, TV/reading room and a dining room. The drawing room is lovely. Tremendous sea views across to Arran - on a clear day! We had a private tour around the castle, which was closed to the public for the winter - it reopens in April. Beautifully decorated rooms with much of the original furniture and paintings etc. We ate dinner in the hotel - a very small menu - and it was perfectly adequate. Breakfast was included in the room rate and was an enormous full Scottish breakfast. The staff were all absolutely lovely, friendly and interesting to talk to. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely come back again. The weather was very wet and blustery whilst we there so we didn’t have the chance to explore the vast grounds and park.…
Just returned from an overnight stay at the Eisenhower at Culzean and couldn’t fault a thing. Such a wonderful experience- so different. The staff are helpful and professional without being intrusive. The food was amazing. We stayed in the Ailsa suite which is a large bright room with a lovely big bathroom - both rooms have fantastic views of the sea too. No TVs in the bedrooms, but there is a tv room for guests to use. Will definitely be back.
Fabulous overnight at The Eisehower in Culzean Castle. Stunning bedroom, lovely afternoon tea, dinner and super breakfast. Private castle tour was amazing. Lastly the continuous attention from staff member Iain was exceptional. A wonderful time and would highly recommend.
