We hired the accommodation on an exclusive basis for our 40th wedding anniversary celebration and were extremely pleased with the planning and attention we received from Shannen and the rest of the team. The accommodation, food and service we received was excellent. We would highly recommend staying at Culzean Castle.

Just returned after spending yesterday at this beautiful hotel/castle. Food was excellent. The room was immaculate, in fact everything was first class including Billy the duty manager. He is very welcoming friendly and extremely funny, especially whilst doing the private tour of the castle. He really made our stay and I hope this review is fed back to him. Would love to return.. So, my husband and I ( aka mummy and daddy night away) had the pleasure of staying at the Eisenhower hotel recently to celebrate my husbands birthday. We had been given this as a gift for Christmas, so even better! We upgraded to the Ailsa suite. This was lovely and spacious, crisp cotton bedding, a lovely bathroom, lovely outlook onto the sea. The no TV in the room was actually brilliant! To most, a man would have the tv on whether he was watching it our not, but to sit and have civilised conversation with a glass of champagne looking at the sea was lovely. We had lovely scones and coffee upon arrival, decided against the castle tour due to our slightly late arrival and wanting to relax. We went a walk round the castle later as the tour was still going on and were blown away by the artwork on the walls...or should I say guns and swords...amazing!!!! The Castle below does have an eery feeling to it...tonnes of history here! After reading up when I got home, Calzean may have had reports of some ‘Old’ returning historical guests from time to time. ( eek and wow!!) On the particular night my husband and I ( in our mid 40’s...did I just say that!?? Lol) definitely felt the youngest in town. We always dress up for dinner and we are foodies at heart. The dining room was filled with slightly older guests. ( or in the words of my husband..they were waiting for god ..lol,) but we chatted to a waiter who assured us that the week prior, there was a party of Mexican couples who had a ball!!!) Food was nice, I suppose being a tad precious on food, it was just nice. Part of our dinner was the 2 course deal. We didn’t actually realise that, and when asked if we wanted dessert, of course we did...£7.95 x 2 on checkout just in case you go with a voucher. All in all, we had a lovely, definitely different experience. I wouldn’t call it your average hotel...it doesn’t feel like a hotel. Is class it as an experience we are glad to have had.

My husband and I stayed here for the night to celebrate his birthday (a surprise) It was everything I hoped it would be. The small hotel (at one time Eisenhower’s personal apartment) on the top floor of Culzean Castle was full of atmosphere, with many features retained. We stayed in the Ailsa Suite. A beautiful, spacious room with an equally large bathroom. Public areas consist of a drawing room, TV/reading room and a dining room. The drawing room is lovely. Tremendous sea views across to Arran - on a clear day! We had a private tour around the castle, which was closed to the public for the winter - it reopens in April. Beautifully decorated rooms with much of the original furniture and paintings etc. We ate dinner in the hotel - a very small menu - and it was perfectly adequate. Breakfast was included in the room rate and was an enormous full Scottish breakfast. The staff were all absolutely lovely, friendly and interesting to talk to. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely come back again. The weather was very wet and blustery whilst we there so we didn’t have the chance to explore the vast grounds and park.

Just returned from an overnight stay at the Eisenhower at Culzean and couldn’t fault a thing. Such a wonderful experience- so different. The staff are helpful and professional without being intrusive. The food was amazing. We stayed in the Ailsa suite which is a large bright room with a lovely big bathroom - both rooms have fantastic views of the sea too. No TVs in the bedrooms, but there is a tv room for guests to use. Will definitely be back.

We visited the Eisenhower on a 5pm voucher as a birthday treat for my wife. The setting of the hotel on the top floor of Culzean Castle was magnificent. With only 6 letting rooms, most of which were palacial and very intimate was a very different experience from any other hotel that we have had. We stayed in the Gault room which had a sea view looking over the Firth of Clyde from the clifftop. The dinner which was included in our deal was very tasty but we only had a limited choice. We loved our stay and will return again.

My husband and I treated ourselves to a night at the Eisenhower after getting a voucher on 5pm and what a treat it was! We had visited Culzean Castle on several occasions before and always loved it so it felt really special getting to spend the night there. There is also a sense of exclusivity attached to the stay as there are only 6 rooms so a maximum of 12 people staying there. On arrival, we were taken up in the old lift (an experience in itself) and showed to the Adam Room. One thing that some people would maybe like to know is that there is no TV in the room: we loved it as we felt even more relaxed thanks to this but some people might not like it. However there is very good wifi throughout the hotel. Shortly after checking in, we joined the other guests in the drawing room for cream tea (with delicious warm scones). Once the castle was closed to visitors, we were taken on a private guided tour of the castle. That was another treat: Billy was so knowledgeable, he made the visit absolutely fascinating! We then went for dinner. Having ordered our food after our cream tea, everything arrived very quickly, warm and tasty. The breakfast was just as tasty with a good selection of food and again, great service. As for the room, it was big, clean, comfortable and with a great view of the fountain court. Perfect! We absolutely loved our stay, feeling so privileged to stay in such a stunning location, with such an interesting history, when no other members of the public were allowed in, and with great service from the staff. Highly recommended!

I agree wholeheartedly with the three reviews I can see as I write this. This venue is indeed "Unique", "Fabulous" and "Wonderful and peaceful". 1) Unique - nowhere else I have visited has such a combination of history, geography, nature and remoteness(yet only 20mins. drive from Ayr) 2) Fabulous - "Lovely food, great relaxing atmosphere, knowledgeable staff, all round a terrific stay", are the words of another review. every word is correct! 3) Wonderful and peaceful - "What a great idea. A museum during the day and a very private hotel at night. Other than s few other couples we felt like we had the castle to ourselves. We could see the Firth of Clyde from our room. The food was excellent and service great. A lot of history and honour to President Eisenhower who stayed there a number of times after the war" This not only is the best I have ever experienced but was also great value. Service of the highest standard, wide knowledge of the castle and estate, helpfulness and clear pleasure at working in the castle made the staff element of this incredible Food was perfect. Limited in range as only 12 people would be in the dining room at any one time so therefore popular choices. Soup, Terrine and Goat's Cheese were starters, followed by Salmon, Chicken and a vegetarian option, with three popular desserts, including an excellent cheeseboard. All of these were well cooked and beautifully presented Coffee and 12 year old Macallan in the round lounge overlooking a wild and windy sea with Arran in the distance finished a superb evening which had included an entertaining castle tour during the afternoon I cannot commend this venue any more highly!! Go.
