Hotel's Favourite
Fantastic !! We had a two night stay here as a family and were not disappointed. As soon as you arrived the porters were straight there to take your car and luggage. Our room wasn’t quite ready so we went for some lunch at the golf club restaurant which was very nice. The porters take you down to the golf club in there Courtesy vehicles which you can call any time to manoeuvre around the resort which is very handy as it is a rather big place. when we came back up we were shown to our rooms. I had an ocean view twin and mum and dad had an ocean view king. Both rooms were fantastic and very comfortable. We went to the pool which is a lovely area to relax with a bio sauna in the main area and a private steam room and sauna in both male and female changing rooms. The breakfast at Trump Turnberry is incredible. The continental selection is absolutely plenty. If you’re not fancying a hot breakfast, anything from pastries and yoghurt, to home-made smoothies, muesli, cheeses etc etc. The bar area is very nice and relaxed, and all the staff are super friendly and helpful. The drinks menu is rather pricey. However, you expect this at such a lovely hotel and it’s not a problem whatsoever. The view from the bar is also lovely overlooking the sea and over to the Isle of Arron on a clear day. My only bit of constructive criticism with the room is it would be nice to have a little fridge for personal bottles of water. There is it fully stocked minibar which is automatically charged when you move something out of it, meaning if you have a bottle of water, you would need to get an ice bucket to keep it chilled as there is no other way. Overall, a fantastic stay, and we will definitely be returning to Trump Turnberry.

Great stay at Turnberry, dealt with Greg at check in, he was really good and was very personable! Even after check in he would go out his way to chat to us. Room was amazing, it was a signature suite which consisted of large lounge/dining area, separate bedroom and amazing bathroom with the bath at the window overlooking Ailsa Craig. Visited the golf club for dinner, food was amazing! Sandra & Brad were really nice!

We went to enjoy a birthday present for afternoon tea. The surroundings are lovely, the decor pleasing, the view outstanding and the staff pleasant. BUT: disappointments as hotel is billed as 5 star. Afternoon tea arrived but two items missing. Waiting staff quickly recognised this and they were brought to us almost immediately. ( no one checking?) I had to ask for a pot of hot water when tea arrived .( surely that should have been provided) Cute little tea strainer but no holder.( is that what the other big plate was for?) We asked for a diet coke..never arrived. We had to ask for fresh tea as it was never offered. So all in all it was pleasant and the food was lovely but not as top notch as they like to think of themselves. So a trifle disappointing as it was for a special occasion.

We have stayed here before a few years ago and had the best time. This time the experience was completely different and not what we would’ve expected from a 5 star resort. Upon arrival it was just me as my husband was still working and would not be joining me until five o’clock. My room had a view of the car park, the mini fridge had other peoples food in it. The bathroom was not clean as it should be. I am not one for complaining but at the price we paid to stay here I had to say something. We were moved and upgraded to an ocean view room which was very kind of Samantha she was a star. I had a complimentary drink while I had to wait on the room. We didn’t get into our room until after 5.30pm. I didn’t get time to use the facilities with the spa. Then in the morning we had orders breakfast to our room it was included in our stay. We received toast and coffee and tea. Along with two poached eggs. No Scottish breakfast for either of us. We immediately got dressed and left as it just ruined our stay. It wasn’t the experience we wanted. And from the hotel being five star it certainly didn’t feel that on our stay. I can’t fault the staff they were lovely. I just wish we had the stay we wanted for our anniversary.

I echo every positive already heaped on Turnberry by so many previous reviewers. It really is that Wow. My 12 year old daughter's Dad died last year. His Estate is finally through probate, I asked her what I could get her that would be a present from her Dad that would be a memory gift. She wanted to go to Girvan with her bestie because we have had so many precious previous holidays there. I booked us into a play in the community centre in Girvan... (Ae Fond Kiss), but our favourite hotel was closed at this time... so I looked around the area. Must be because of the time of year, but Turnberry was actually affordable. Extravagant I thought, but affordable. It wasn't extravagant at all. It was excellent value. Memories like those we have now are priceless. As a woman alone, who doesn't drive, this was a daunting adventure made magical by all the incredible staff. Thank you all. I recommend a wee visit to see the ballroom... they will light the chandeliers for visitors and are more than happy (and justifiably proud) to show it off. Reception staff are happy to book a taxi... it's only £12 and 15 minutes in a taxi to Girvan which is a lovely wee town for a visit. PS, no dress code at breakfast which is why the girls are in their jammies. PPS, breakfast is unsurpassable.

First impressions at the most stunning Trump Turnberry Leisure resort include; the perfectly manicured lawns, totally breathtaking panoramic views'. Very much enjoyed from floor to ceiling windows enhancing the already panoramic views over the Firth of Clyde [Estuary] towards the equally impressive Island of Arran. Which incidentally, happens to be locally known as ‘Little Scotland’ for its mountainous north, but relatively flat southern peninsula, including the famous Pladda Lighthouse. A historic railway station that was once on site ‘back in the day’ for any would be rail enthusiast guest, not to mention high end golfing, probably at Its highest calibre possible in my subjective view. Overall, a truly stunning, something for everyone luxury hotel setting perfect for all budgets [Villa/Occasional Itison options], but relatively close to Ayr’s historic attractions. For example Robert [Rabbi] Burn’s birthplace thatched cottage. With a nearby visitor centre in the heart of the quaint, affluent ‘milk and honey’ district of Ayr’s Alloway district. With nearby Ayr Gaiety Theatre for theatre lovers, and of course full traditional High Street attractions to boot. The beautiful Ayrshire County is well ‘kent’ worldwide for Scotland’s National Bard, the world famous Rabbie Burns. Indeed, Robert Burns was voted Scotland’s greatest ever Scot. The Bard’s beautiful birth village of Alloway is also only a very short drive away, and highly recommended, as is his very own world famous thatched cottage, and heritage site nearby. I had the pleasure of being a Trump Turnberry guest, indeed also reviewing some alternative local establishments’. These are located in, for example; the nearby picturesque villages of Maidens, Alloway, Kirkoswald, Prestwick. I found the Trump Turberry bedroom suite exquisite, complete with ensuite ‘roll top’ bath, and a verandah view second to none in my view. Trump Turnberry itself however remains in a class of its own, as ever, and by a clear mile, again in my subjective opinion. I’m acutely aware that this wonderful Turnberry resort has been a ‘magnet’ for the rich and famous for well over a century now. I understand the likes of Abba, Rod Stewart and last but not least Glen MIchael of Cartoon Cavalcade [Showing my age here] have all been VIP visitors. Not to mention many star golfers, for example Tiger Woods. Again showing my age, I clearly recall the so-called: “...Duel in the sun!” with golfing legends Tom Watson & Jack Nicolas. However, golfing aside, what really struck me was the something for everyone approach of this fine leisure resort. For example; Turnberry Villas including Turnberry Adventures.I We arrived at Trump Turnberry on a crisp clear Sunday afternoon in mid winter 2024, and despite residing nearby for years, [at the also very grand Culzean Estate]. Nonetheless, I remained awestruck, as ever at this place of outstanding natural beauty, a truly magical place guaranteed. Being reported I understand as one of the world’s top twenty golf resorts. Their golf clubhouse benefits from a very impressive 360 in UHD flatscreen, and high end shops added to my overall enjoyment. In the main hotel itself, I enjoyed a quiet aperitif beside the hearty log fire, and although not feeling hungry, I couldn’t help but notice a stunning Sunday Brunch menu nearby in their Crystal Room, which just like the resort's Grand Ballroom [massive capacity for well over four hundred patrons] had very impressive floor to ceiling glass windows, not to mention exquisite crystal chandeliers' [no relation to the late Sydney Divine vocalist]. Indeed, personally 'talking together' more than a world class golfing resort in my view, not to mention fine Scottish cuisine at the very highest level. Their deluxe brunch menu consisted of Aberdeen Angus beef, and Scottish salmon as the mains, with a freshly made, very tempting array of high quality desserts'. They even had an esteemed piano player to calmly entertain diners'. However, although very good in his own right, I would personally rotate his exquisite keyboard skills, perhaps with an equally impressive harp musician if being completely honest. This would maybe only add variety to the ambience at exquisite lunchtime dining. I didn’t have sufficient time to experience the stunning top class Spa/Leisure Centre, once again Tripadvisor patrons, with wonderful views over the Ailsa Craig. This extinct volcanic plug remains a must for marine and bird-watching enthusiasts, not to mention fishing, and frequented by passing dolphins. On the negative side I was slightly disappointed to learn the resort’s tennis courts are no longer available sadly, but that was only a very minor setback given I’m a fan of disabled tennis participation having attended Wimbledon several times. Plus being local myself, I often visit the magical Trump Turnberry golfers rest restaurant, adjecent to the lighthouse, often enjoying a nice hot chocolate, despite the increase of price being a very only a very slight downside if being totally honest. I found all the staffs' kind, inclusive, well manicured personally, and very helpful indeed. In fact, even the security staff were obliging for complete peace of mind. at this exceptional Scottish resort. The hotel valet team even offered to park my car, being a disabled patron myself this was a very welcome feature. I found their female bartender helpful too. I their esteem head groundsman Morris was very much an obliging, proactive individual as were all his resort colleagues generally. In short, 100% satisfied, high I'm sure to return at Valentines Day. Many thanks Thomas

Visited for tea and cake at 2:15PM on Sunday 7th January 2024. Beautiful setting and views. Unfortunately, no staff acknowledged our arrival or attended our table. Only three tables were occupied. After 20 minutes, I approached the reception desk and was assured that someone would attend immediately. Five minutes later we ordered tea and cake. The tea arrived quickly but the cake took a further 10 minutes and could not be described as fresh. All-in-all, a three star service at five star prices. Really must do better. Steve G.
