My wife and I love an afternoon tea and have had some in pretty special places. The Royal Hotel didn’t disappoint. The restaurant is bright and fresh with plush seats, a mixture of tables and some booths. The staff were all super friendly and helpful, particularly the young waitress who served us. The food was excellent quality with one of the best home made scones I’ve had. There were plenty of sandwiches and cakes, the bread was very fresh and soft. We were offered top ups of hot drinks but there were plenty to start with so we didn’t bother. I have a big appetite but left there stuffed and looking forward to our next visit. Well worth the drive from Edinburgh.

Stayed here for a couple of nights as i was working, normal stay in the Dunblane Hydro but its got very expensive as I don't use any of the facilities, booked the Royal at short notice, good location, very grand downstairs with a good restaurant which i used both nights, staff all very friendly and a decent car park Rooms.. very tired, said they had started an update which they need, good enough for what i wanted but its not luxury, i needed to run about in my shower to get wet That's the negative, overall a good stay, excellent value, good breakfast and DBB deal, would use again

Attended a dinner dance and stayed in the hotel. The good bits: the ground level was lovely, function room & lounge area. The food and service at the function were first class, that's where the good bits end. Our room was a star - a dis a star. Very small with an unpleasant smell, window did not open. Ceiling light was very dull, I lost 3 contact lens in the process of putting them in! No bedside lamps, only an angle poise lamp pointed at the ceiling. The curtains were hanging off the rail. In the bathroom, the water was lying in the bath trap and the ceiling was missing a spotlight leaving a hole. It's just as well it was a small room or there might have been a bigger list. The breakfast was adequate but was cold as were the serving plates and the tea. I would like to compliment the staff who were all very pleasant and helpful, considering they must be dealing with numerous complaints and issues on daily basis. There will not be a return visit from us.

Firstly can I congratulate the staff as they all worked hard and were always helpful. The facade is lovely BUT as soon as you head to the bedrooms the disaster starts, we were a large group who were stay the weekend to attend our annual dinner dance. Everyone had various issues from damp smelly dirty rooms, some without running water others little lighting? I could go on and on. First morning breakfast was barely edible second morning a bit better. The function suite was better and the food during the dinner was much better. Please please think twice think thrice before booking into Faulty Towers an experience I DONT want to every try again?

Attended this hotel and stayed two nights (my family had 3 rooms) we came up from England for my niece's wedding. Wedding plans had been well arranged and no doubt there was a considerable cost. Sadly I consider not value for money and also very poorly managed. Presume a lady who was the manageress who seemed to flit about but do nothing was in charge. Wedding food was fine, service disorganised, too many people confined to space -both for wedding ceremony and wedding meal - a serious fire risk and lack of exits. Bedrooms very dated, windows cannot open, one couple had no curtains. Shower not safe water fluctuates from very hot to very cold, not suitable for children or adults; fire exit from 2nd floor which our bedrooms were on led to a dead end...very worrying. Lift not working properly and advised not to use!!!! Many other things - it was like Fawlty Towers - eg: at breakfast ran out of bread for toast; at the bar ran out of wine and beer; went to pay bill..they could not find card machine to pay; A very positive point was ground floor staff were great and friendly - manageress should be reported and fired - she was appalling and so remote and lacks customer service aplomb.

Don't believe photos which it shows on website. I stopped in room 5. Heating not working had to go and ask for fan heater absouletly freezing. Went for a shower and just a drizzle coming out thought I would have a bath and dirty/rusty water coming out think that's what had blocked the shower head. Went to complain and just got apologises from staff. ROOM VERY DATED. JUST AWFUL

We had a similar experience to family review written on Jan 2nd . The food was acceptable for Christmas day dinner but the service was apalling. We ordered our drinks but had finished our starters and sat for over an hour without them appearing .We didn't even have water on the table ! After asking numerous members of staff about our drinks my husband went to see if we could get our order and it turned up a while after that .After dessert many people had decided to leave we waited for coffee . When they served it they didn't bother to remove the dirty dishes from the table and the mince pies still hadn't come when we had finished coffee. To add insult to injury one of the staff came with a black bin bag and cleared rubbish form adjacent table while we had coffee .I couldn't believe it was happening, it was like Faulty Towers without the laughs . We went out for Christmas dinner to avoid stress and relax instead we endured a four and half hour ordeal .

This is an email that I have taken some considerable time and thought about and I am writing to you as I feel you need to know how ALL my family felt after spending our special family Christmas dinner with you at the Royal Hotel. We had Christmas dinner out last year and it was okay but it was cheaper per head. So we decided to pay that little extra to come to yourself at Bridge of Allan to a professional run hotel where I felt my family would be looked after on Christmas Day. The day was a DISASTER!! I will start with food - for £70 per head the meal was okay. We had to email our meals in two days in advance so you knew what we wanted, so there was even more time to get this right....Starters were fine, main course was fine but no cranberry sauce. Dessert were okay but the cheese and biscuits did not come with crackers as advertised it came with Madeira bread and no grapes or celery etc. The menu was not the main issue. Staff - all staff were all pleasant but NOT enough of them!! We sat down and were asked what we wanted to drink .. we waited 40 minutes for this to come. We then had our starters and our first drink. Our plates were cleared and we asked could we have another round of drinks? Yes absolutely we were told. And we waited, we asked again, and we waited, we asked the manager and she said I will tell the bar staff, and we waited. I got up and caught a girl and she said yes I will be with you soon. We waited again. We asked for the 5th time and she came through to take an order and we got our drinks, but they were wrong. May I say at this time still NO dinner 1 hour after my starter. Then dinner came at last. This I felt was SHOCKING! Once we had finished the main course my husband got his lager. You try eating your Christmas dinner with no drink. After the main meal. The effort it would have been to ask for another drink and waiting for how ever long for our coffees was just to much. So we all decided to leave!! We went though to get our coats from the hall and numerous staff past and never asked if we were okay. But what was more shocking the manageress passed and never even said “ your leaving? Or are you wanting your coffees?” Nothing just walked past. This is a day of the year that is supposed to be special. I am both shocked and highly disappointed in your manager and the organising of your hotel. I will also not be recommending your hotel to anyone!
