Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stayed overnight on our way up to the Isle of Mull. Staff were very accommodating for us all, including the dog who was a bit over excited for his first stay anywhere. Rooms were lively and comfortable. Food both evening and breakfast were fantastic. Highly recommended.

Loved everything about my stay, from the room to the meals, from the location to the staff. Looking forward to a return visit. Was made to feel very much at home from beginning to end. Especially appreciated accommodation of a late departure.

Worst place ever, made even worse by the owner. Arrived Saturday afternoon after taking my my wife for chemo. Owner was drunk and not very welcoming. Came down for breakfast on Sunday and was asked, by the owner, "your not down for breakfast yet" ? I want to be made welcome, I wasn't, I was asked to cancel booking.com so he could not pay commission, we were told at 8.45 on Sunday evening that the bar was closing, by the owner, maybe because he was sober and his rich, elitist friends weren't there. Won't stay here ever and won't recommend it to anyone, EVER. We eventually went to The Inn At Kippen. Amazing staff, made welcome and if they had a room I would pay for it. Also, I know it's a dog friendly environment, couldn't enjoy my non seasoned meal without the resident dog stealing food from our plates. No way would I recommend this place. Oh!!!! You have to change the carpets,,,, nasty!!!!! And if booking.com don't take this arrogant individual off the site, there truly is something wrong!!!!!

I stayed just one night and on a whim. This inn is quite superb. The room was clean (spotless in fact) comfortable and with great views. The bar was welcoming with a cracking fire and … Jess the Labradoodle patrolling the gaff. I had a delicious dinner of salmon, steak pie and sticky toffee pudding. All faultlessly served by Sarah and with Jess looking on with her experienced eye, there was little room for error! A dram in the bar was the perfect night cap as the next day I was up early and walked in the nearby hills and forest. The cooked breakfast upon my return was just the ticket. I had local bacon and sausage that TASTED of bacon and sausage with good coffee all served by Brian, the very affable and hospitable host. This is a gem of a place and I hope I will return soon. Brian, just one request….bigger, more substantial paper napkins please, the thicker faux linen ones? Thank you for being an independent star.

After a Sunday morning walk, the Cross Keys is ideal for a family roast. A lovely atmosphere, professional, friendly and efficient service, great food and an easy 5*. We arrived later on Sunday, so there was space, but I'd recommend booking in advance for lunch as I am sure it gets busy. Superb, we loved it!

We stayed 3 nights with our dog, visiting local area. Room was clean, tidy and had everything we needed. Welcome was great by Brian, landlord, all staff were friendly, helpful and polite and made a fuss of kohl our GSD. We had 2 evening meals there and both were great, even arranged a surprise cake for our anniversary. Breakfasts were delicious too, would definitely return and recommend to anyone looking to stay in the area.
