Great location, lovely, warm rooms and the hostess with the mostest. We had a lovely welcome from Margaret, who was a fount of local knowledge. Her breakfasts were generous and delicious. Try the vegetarian haggis! Nothing was too much trouble and we felt well catered for. This is a great base for discovering this beautiful island.

My husband ad I booked the guesthouse in February'21 for 4 nights from 19th to 23rd July . Our friends / a couple also booked , they and booked separately. I emailed the guest house on the 6th July to check our booking , Maragret responded and everything was all fine for these dates. Arrived approx at 3.30pm to find we could not get into the guesthouse . The owner Margaret came out a while after to tell us the guesthouse was closed due to her son having Covid. Margaret then said she found out at 7.30pm last night and had lots of people to contact. She said she had sent an email and it didn't bounce back and then said do you CHECK your emails. To which I replied I do especially when I am travelling. The lack of communication was not acceptable , there was no phone call to back up the email . My friends did not receive any phone call or email either . We were all very disappointed regarding how this was handled. Margaret assured us other accommodation would be easy to find for these dates which it wasn't!!!!!! We appreciate places have to close due to government guidance however this could be have been dealt with more professionally . I received an email re - an apology and Maragret advised the guesthouse opened 4 days later which was surprising !!!!!!!!!

I am so sorry about circumstances arising due to the Covid outbreak on Islay. We were told to close the night before and quickly contacted all guests who I must say were very understanding. I explained to you in my email to go to Islayinfo.com as that was a good place to find acommodation but sadly I mis-spelt you name on your email address and you did not receive it. I told you to go to the girls at the Visit Scotland office. I called them later that day to make sure the girls had managed to find you somewhere to stay and they assured me they had. I'm sure you understand how distressing it was after 18 months of avoiding the virus to find out so many of our young people were infected . I was not the only business affected as I am sure you found out when you tried to visit places. Your comment of our re-opening being surprising really quite offends me as we trade all 12 months of the year and again we re-opened on the advice of the Scottish Goverment. Thank you for your concern of those who really were very unwell with the virus. Keep well. Best wishes Margaret

Had a wonderful stay at The Lambeth Guest House in Bowmore. Very modern, clean and comfortable bedrooms which were cleaned and changed to a meticulous standard each day. Excellent power shower. Margaret was a fantastic hostess and served up the most amazing breakfasts together with good old Scottish banter. Her smoked salmon scrambled eggs are to die for as are the full Scottish breakfasts. Islay and Scottish hospitality at its very best and we can’t wait to return. Thanks a million Margaret for a fantastic stay in your excellent guest house. Alex and Nicola
