Ate several times here...dinner, pub meal and a cracking Sunday lunch and enjoyed it all. The only place on the island with real ale in the winter too. Very friendly staff and dinner in the dining room was a delight with a comfortable sitting room to take coffee. Well worth visiting and port charlotte is a pretty village and beach.

Went here for lunch and coffees before a large gathering at the hotel. The staff were great, really friendly and helpful. The bar had a lovely roaring fire and the food was delicious. The portions arent very big but they were very tasty. The lounge area of the hotel is comfy and welcoming. We didn't stay in the hotel but...

Ate there 3 times during my stay on Islay. Food OK without being outstanding, with the exception of the local oysters, which were wonderful. Expensive, though, particularly at the bar, with £4.10 for a pint of (average) beer and whisky at a minimum of £5 a nip. Worth going on music nights, but the prices didn't encourage to stay at...

We so appreciated the very helpful and outgoing gentleman who seemed to be in charge of everything in and out of the pub. With speed he delivered a great hot serving of soup with crispy loaf followed by hot tea. It was chilly outside! This Hotel is very well cared for with its residents. It looks warm and welcoming from...

This was our third visit to the Port Charlotte hotel for evening dinner. We were unable to book the restaurant as it was full but were assured that the menu in the bar was the same so we booked a table there. We were escorted to our place which was not laid although it was reserved, given menus and asked...

Thank you for your review although surprised to hear of your disappointment. We work hard to provide excellent service throughout the hotel, our bar is a less formal style of dining, and we trust that guests will engage with our younger less experienced staff to help build their confidence and social skills. We do not offer accompaniments but are happy...

This is our fourth visit to the Port Charlotte and every one has been wonderful. We are in the midst of a month-long Hebridean holiday, but the whole schedule was built around the availability of this hotel. We had a lovely room on the ground floor with a view out over Loch Indaal. We arrived very late on Saturday night,...

The 3rd visit for me to this lovely pub/restaurant. Everytime I go I make sure it's the live music night (weds and Sundays I'm summer). Food and service is always excellent and the large range of whisky is heaven. Can't wait to visit next year

Staying on Islay for a few days and we booked dinner with friends one evening. Lovely ambiance to the place. Menu was delightful. Had a problem choosing it all looked so good. Husband had a seafood medley which looked and he said tasted amazing. Plenty too. The dining room was comfortable and really nice to have white linen.

Thank you for your complimentary review of your dinner experience with us. We are fortunate to have such wonderful local produce to showcase in our menu and a wonderful chef who cares very much about its preparation and presentation.

We visited the Port Charlotte Hotel several times during our recent holiday to Islay as we were staying on the Port Mor campsite nearby. We drank in here several times, during the day and the evening and saw the gaelic band a few times (live gaelic music during the summer on weds and sun, and we also caught a singer/songwriter...

Sorry we were here in 2015. Excellent: staff, service, food, ambience, bedroom small/cosy but very well decorated and comfortable. Surely one of Scotland's, Britain's, the worlds most special places to stay and eat.
