Sat in bed with a cuppa, Jura out the window to my left, hills of County Antrim to my right. Just lovely. Place was spotless, Ronnie and Mairi were fabulous, and the views awesome. Had the best sleep ever.

We enjoyed a couple of days at The Monachs with Ronnie and Mari. Lovely room and beautiful common room. View was terrific. Enjoyed our conversations with our hosts. They made great recommendations for dinner and even made reservations for us. The B & B is easy to find and very pleasant. Breakfast was made to order.

The accommodations are very nice. I found the bed had a bit of a list to poet, but my wife found it very comfortable. The breakfasts are very generous and cooked to order. The setting and the view are simply amazing. It's secluded but within easy driving to the rest of the island.

My 87 year-old father and I stayed there for four nights in August 2014. The B&B has a dedicated guest lounge with a pleasant view out over the beautiful Loch Indaal, and... More

Every guest house is a one-off, but The Monachs is more ‘one-off’ than most. The situation for a start: up a track, on its own, on a hillside amid sheep, cows, skylarks and curlews - with 300-degree views ranging from Islay's gentler lochside scenery to the formidable mountains of distant Jura. The Monachs’ other unique feature is the hosts, Ronnie... More

We enjoyed our two day stay here in September. Super big room and bathroom. Wonderful view of the sea. Super breakfast and excellent hospitality. The house is large and enjoys a good view of the sea as it is high up. There is an excellent place to eat at the Port Charlotte Hotel.

“The ground floor back room has its own ramp and door (e.g. for wheelchair access, for dog egress and ingress). Plug location, single armchair in a double room (which makes TV for 2 somewhat distant) are a shade eccentric.”
