The Lodge is a newly renovated fishing cottage and sits at the centre of the bay crescent overlooking the sea and harbour. It has been finished to a high standard and specification and is within walking distance of three whisky distilleries, Laphroaig, Lagavulin and Ardbeg.

We have always visited Islay in the Spring, but this year after having to cancel a few times, we arrived in Port Ellen towards the end of October. We were a little worried that it would be too quiet, but we were pleasantly surprised that most places were open for business. We were extremely lucky with the weather, we even managed to sit outside and have our lunch a couple of times. Our favourite part was going back each afternoon to the lovely warm, cosy Lodge, we could watch the children swimming and canoeing in the bay (it was half term), the odd boat coming and going and the most magnificent sun sets and dramatic skies. Our room was immaculate and the bed so comfortable that I found that I slept so much better than I do at home. The Lodge is just the perfect place to relax and forget about what's happening in the world, the only downside is that at some point you do have to pack up and leave!…

Absolutely outstanding from start to finish. Greeted by the lovely housekeeper Susan and shown around and to the room which was absolutely immaculate. Was able to plug the firestick in 😂 and get set up for the weekend. Lots of essentials and non essentials in the kitchen and a text every morning to see what you would like for breakfast! Scenery outside the lodge is out of this world and Islay locals are very welcoming. Perfect for a quiet, chilled break and the Lodge made the most comfortable base to start and end from. The island itself is also very beautiful and well worth a little explore 😊. Nothing was too much trouble for Susan and even had plenty of craic and laughs with her too before departure. In case it’s mentioned in another review there was a slight issue with a smoke alarm. It was rectified ASAP and both the owner Don and Susan couldn’t have been any more apologetic and had the inspector coming as we left. This was just one of those things that could happen at any time and we were even offered a free stay which I declined as they should not be out of pocket for a technical issue beyond anyones control. Got more than we paid for in our expectations so that was plenty 👌🏼. Will definitely be back for sure as you will find it VERY difficult to beat such fantastic accommodation anywhere especially somewhere fairly remote. Please don’t think twice about booking, just do it. Thank me later 😉 All the very best to you all up there and thanks again 😊…

Another great stay for us at The Lodge this time with all the family. You won't get closer to the beach or closer to the distilleries on that side of the island (walking distance). Whatever you're in Islay for this is the spot to stay. Would also highly recommend booking into Sea Salt or The Islay Hotel for meals.

From the moment we parked in front of The Lodge, I knew we were going to love it. It stands out in its row of cottages with its immaculate painted front and looks out across the bay on a beautiful view. Susan, the housekeeper, welcomed us and showed us to our lovely room at the back of the house. The room was a good size with a huge bed, and beautifully decorated too. The bathroom was perfect, with a wonderful shower. The room also had a table and two stools which we made good use of. Breakfast was amazing! It was very kind to be asked whether we'd like salmon bagels on our final morning, and everything else you need (and more) is freely available in the kitchen. We also used the lounge, and the back garden to store our hired bikes in. The Lodge is just a couple of minutes away from restaurants and shops, bike hire and the whisky distillery trail.…

Fantastic location. Walking distance to Islay Hotel, ferry slip, and Sea Salt restaurant. The beds are comfortable too. Fast WiFi. Bring your own toiletries. They do have some body wash too. The cereals and toast are good too. If we return to Islay, we will stay here again.

Stayed 2 nights, booked with the proprietor Don, was sent detailed email of check in and things of interest close to the accommodation, was welcomed by Susan and shown around the accommodation, very friendly and warm, nothing too much trouble, room excellent, en-suite shower amazing, whole Lodge immaculate, excellent continental breakfast, 3 minute drive from ferry port, Co-op, restaurant and pub all walking distance, must see distilleries Ardbeg, Bunnahabhain and our favourite Ardnahoe excellent restaurant for lunch. Beautiful beaches, American war monument worth the drive on single track dirt road then half hour walk, view breathtaking. Will return to Islay and the Lodge will be my first stop.

Friendly welcomed by Susan & shown around at convenient time for us in relation to ferry times. Close to ferry, Coop and the most beautiful beach a few steps out of the front door. Very clean, tidy stay with personal touches like the wee bottle of whisky! Homely feel with plenty of interesting pictures on the wall. Continental breakfast very good, Covid rule compliant

Well appointed B & B. Very comfortable and warm. Good continental breakfast. Proprietor and staff very friendly and accommodating. We can highly recommend the lodge and if we return to Islay we will definitely try to revisit the lodge. Best B & B we have been to for some years.
