We made a detour on our trip through Scotland to visit Laphroaig Distillery on Islay. After some difficulty with the ferry (don't trust the GPS!), we made the late afternoon sailing to Port Ellen. The Oystercatcher is no more than a five minute walk from the ferry terminal. Lynn was understanding of our change in travel plans. She even walked... More

Lynn came in at the last minute after our previous accommodation fell through. The room was warm. Beds were comfy and had awesome facilities. Stones throw from Port Ellen's harbour and ferry port. Breakfasts were second to none. Recommend as a quiet place to get away from the rush of the mainland.

My partner and I had a great two night stay in at the Oystercatcher: friendly host, nice room, amazing and enormous breakfast! Our room had a lovely view of the harbour. The Islay Hotel, just along the road, was good for dinner & whisky, and had live music on both Fri and Sat nights.

Fantastic stay at the Oystercatcher. Lynn is so welcoming and makes you feel so at home straight away. Our room was bright, comfortable and spotless with everything that you could need from tea/coffee making facilities to a hairdryer. The breakfast was delicious and as other reviewers have noted filled you up so that there was no need for lunch!! Islay... More

The Oystercatcher was an absolutely brilliant B&B. The owner, Lynn, was friendly without being intrusive and helpful without being pushy. We were entirely relaxed throughout our stay. I've never seen such a huge choice of delicious breakfasts at a B&B or hotel, all cooked freshly to order. We tried several different options and all were very tasty. When Lynn discovered... More

This quaint two-guest-room B&B ticks most of the boxes: warm and friendly proprietor - check; good breakfast - double check (the breakfasts were truly excellent!!); cozy and comfortable rooms - check (and they had a great view of the harbor!). Bathroom was a little small and rustic, but very clean, and that was pretty much what we expected so no... More

Lynn has set the bar for all B&B experiences. Lynn herself was warm, bubbly, and right on target. She made my boyfriend and I feel like family in her home and took care of us - even when we almost had no way of transporting our precious whiskey home! Her home was cozy and perfectly laid out, quiet even though... More

We spent a week at this lovely B&B over Easter, and felt so well looked after and relaxed. The cosy, clean rooms are well equipped with comfy beds, lovely linen, very well stocked tea and coffee making facilities and pretty view. There was also a hairdryer and bottle opener. Lynn was a wonderful hostess, and those breakfasts set us up... More

We spent a week with Lynn at The Oystercatcher two years ago and were happy that she was able to book us for our second stay. Lynn is delightful and made us feel like part of her family while giving us all the privacy we wanted. My husband, adult son and I booked both rooms so the second floor was... More

Had a very enjoyable week-end, the food and accommodation were excellent and Lynn was very helpful and friendly. It is ideally located for distilleries, American monument and Kildalton Cross. Ann & John. .
