Yards from the Ferry terminal and Town CentreThe Guest House was built in 1854 and is popular for its friendly welcome and relaxed atmosphere. We are located opposite the ferry terminal directly across the road from the terminal entrance/exit on Newton Street, Stornoway. The house has three large ensuite and two large standard bedrooms. All rooms have a sea view and panoramic views of Lews Castle grounds and beyond to Arnish point. It also has a well laid out dining room. All rooms are centrally heated with individual thermostatic control; Freeview and secure free Wi-fi available in all rooms as well as tea and coffee making facilities. The town centre is just a few minutes walk, we are located very close to the bus station which boasts an excellent service to all major attractions on the island. The Western Isles tourist office is located on Cromwell Street in the centre of Stornoway, where you can find information on all the local events and festivals, tours, etc. There are local car hire firms which can be booked from the guest house and delivered to the door, we can also arrange for guided tours of the island. We have a private rear garden which you may use for a barbecue to taste our local fresh seafood, perhaps with a bottle of fine wine.Whatever you decide to do on your holiday, we will try to make it a pleasant and happy one to remember and hope you enjoy your stay with us.

From the moment we met the lovely couple managing this place, we were friends. The wife cooks a wonderful breakfast and the husband is full of helpful information. There is parking on street just down from the building. Located right across from the ferry terminal. Stayed for 2 nights while we explored Lewis & Harris. I have allergies to fragrance and they obtained fragrance free soap for me. Went above and beyond in so many ways. Room was spacious with good view of the harbor area. Quiet at night. Hope to visit again!

This place really was a home from home, Shona and Ali are lovely and looked after us as if we were family. Super comfy room, lovely bed, and a great view of the harbour entrance (room 2). Delicious breakfast, cooked fresh, unlimited tea coffee, fruit, cereal etc.

This was a terrific find. If you're coming to Stornoway by ferry from Ullapool, it couldn't be more perfectly situated, just round the corner from the ferry terminal exit. It's also a very short walk from Tesco and the town centre. But the main attraction was the warm welcome from the owners, who were incredibly hospitable and helpful. The ensuite room was very comfortable, with tea and coffee making facilities. And there was an excellent cooked breakfast, with Stornoway black pudding on offer. A great place to stay, both for Stornoway itself and a base for travelling round Lewis and Harris.

What a lovely place to stay. Our hosts were warm and welcoming. The room spacious, comfortable and spotless. The view from the bathroom was spectacular, thoughtfully a pair of binoculars were provided which I used to watch the boats coming in as well as the wildlife. We will definitely be returning Thanks for the hospitality x

Shona was the perfect hostess nothing was to much trouble. The room was spotless and well appointed with everything you need for a couple of nights stay, It gave easy walking access to the town and was directly opposite the exit from the Ferry Terminal. The rooms are double glazed so no noise from passing traffic. There is a Tesco supermarket 100yds from the front door, handy if you have forgotten anything. All in all a great place to stay.

Had a great stay with Ali and Shona. The room and bathroom was clean and comfortable, nothing was too much trouble. The views were great too. Breakfast choices were superb and tea and coffee endlessly supplied. If you want to know about the area, they have a wealth of knowledge. It is easy to get to, from the ferry and near the town centre. Ali tried to teach us some Gaelic, (we weren't very good). They are a lovely welcoming couple with a great place to stay. Would definitely recommend to anyone. Tapadh leat Ali and Shona

Like living at home. Very friendly and helpful owners. Room 2 was big and clean with a good bathroom and a fridge and seating areas. Very healthy and well tasting breakfast downstairs. Well functioning wifi. Central location - Tesco store almost next door. 5 min walk to center and about 15 min to Lews castle.

We stayed 2 nights, arriving by rental car at 2 PM. The friendly owner took our payment by card, provided the WIFI code, the hot breakfast menu and keys to our room. She led us up one flight of stairs to Room #1 in the front. The nice sized room was carpeted opening to comfortable twins with heavy duvets, small couch, TV(20+channels) desk and chair with hot pot(coffee/tea/milk/biscuits), a refrigerator, then a clothes stand and a sink. The toilet/shower unit was in a very small room with liquid soap & inline hot water. The secure room wifi was good, many outlets, adequate lighting, an adjustable heat register and a quiet night’s sleep. An insulated window opened to a view of the sea and the ferry landing. The 7:30 AM breakfast buffet in the lounge is excellent, beginning with OJ, fruit salad, cereals, yogurt, toast, coffee machine selections and tea, followed by a hot meal of your choice, ordered the night before. The location has direct access to the ferry and the Tesco supermarket is just 1 block away.…

Stayed here 3 nights on a tour of the isles of western Scotland. Had a nice room, the bed was comfortable, breakfasts were excellent. The hosts were very helpful and accommodating. There isn't a car park, but on street parking is easily available. The main ferry terminal for Ullapool is directly opposite. The town centre is within a five minute walk. I toured round Ness, the Historic Scotland blackhouse at Arnol, Gerannan Blackhouse Village, the Calanish Standing Stones, and Lews Castle, with the Hebrides Museum. Beware Sundays on the Isle of Lewis. Most things are closed, so your activities will have to be open air places. Very few eating places are open , you will have to research the few that are, or else stock up the day before with food bought from the nearby Tesco. Fortunately there was a fridge in the room which was very useful.…

Very well located and ideal for the ferry port. Easy to find with convenient parking and a large Tesco minutes away. The room was comfortable and had the added bonus of a fridge. The bathroom was tiny however, just a shower cubicle and toilet, with a hand basin in the bedroom. Breakfast was fine. A comfortable stay.
