Detailed Reviews
Lovely stay. Christine was so friendly and accommodating with our tandem bike and check-in. Breakfast was provided in our room (we weren’t able to use the kitchen due to covid restrictions) which was very unexpected and much appreciated. The beds were super comfy and clean. All in all, a great stay and would thoroughly recommend.

Had a 1 night stay here during a cycle trip. Really friendly owners and the location is perfect for the ferry terminal, it’s a 2 - 3 minute walk away. We had a 4 bed dorm for our group, it was comfortable, quiet and excellent value. There is a recently updated bathroom with a good shower on the top floor as well as a second bathroom on the first floor, a well stocked communal kitchen, nice common room and best of all for a cycle trip there is a secure bike storage shed and a laundry room with washing/drying machines and a drying room. Loads of places to eat around about it as well.

A lovely stay at the hostel. Room was big enough for the 5 of us and beds were comfy with nice duvets. Christine wasn't around and we were looked after by her mum, who was very helpful sorting out the shed for our bikes. Breakfast was supplied which set us up for our early ferry.

This Hostel is a house (super dilapidated, it should be added) where you can spend the night in Stornoway.
The positive thing is that it is central and economical (next to the bus station and the port).
It's very busy, very busy with people coming and going (because there's basically not much else in Stornoway).
The attention of the hotel staff left a lot to be desired. They are almost never there, and in the end the guests themselves have to tell the others how things work, or go look for the staff who are usually resting in the kitchen or the patio.
When you find them, they inform you, trying to be funny, but it turns out tacky. They didn't know how to give us a telephone number or a website where we could find what to do on the island. We had to find it ourselves
As for the hotel facilities, I already say: absolute ruin. Typical hostel where thousands of people have passed through there for years and years and with hardly any renovations and everything falling apart, breaking, etc. The bathroom on the ground floor (community) is sad. There's barely room for one person, the water was leaking everywhere...
The room for 7 is spacious, with bunk beds and you know, the quality of sleep in a hostel depends on who you have as roommates. But being a small city, almost a town, lost from the hand of God, the probability of you sharing a room with drunks is greatly reduced.

We stayed for three nights in the shepherds hut in the garden at the rear of the main hostel. Great value for money; very private, very cosy and completely self-contained. An excellent choice during the Covid era. A different experience to staying in a standard hostel. You have everything you need including private shower and toilet. We would definitely stay here again on our next trip to Lewis and Harris. Christine was really helpful in placing the booking during the uncertain times due to the pandemic.

A gorgeous, welcoming and well-equipped hostel at a very reasonable price. This is one of the nicest hostels I’ve stayed at for the all-round experience. The hosts are very welcoming and everyone was very relaxed. The location is central but quiet - near lots of food places. There is bike storage, a good kitchen, nice shared lounge, great washing and drying facilities and the beds were comfortable.

Was amazing here! Not only is the owner lovely and friendly but the other guests were brilliant. It’s such a wonderful atmosphere here and the rooms were fantastic!
Only downside, the top bunks had no access to charge phones, only the bottom bunks have the power boards under the bed

Hi. Do you have a private room with 2 single beds for the nights of 31 August - 3 September? We would be departing early a.m. 4 September. Are men's and women's bathrooms separate? What is the cost/night?
Hello Ken, I am afraid we don't have any single rooms. If you would like to book a bed in one of our dorms the cost is £18ppn. I can give you a call on the number you provided if you would like more information.
Thank you.
Kind regards.
Christine
Hello Cinzia,
Thank you for your enquiry.
We have a basic double ensuite room available in a shared house just along from the hostel on these nights for £50per night.
There is only 1 double bed in the room so not sure if it is suitable.
We also have 2 dorm beds available on these nights for £19pppn.
Please let me know if you require any further information or if you would like to make a reservation.
Kind regards,
Christine
