Stayed one night as went to see a show at An Lanntiar and didn't want to drive back to Harris that night. All the staff were lovely. Room was clean with very comfy bed but really hot even though radiator was turned off but couldn't open window due to noise until early hours. Great location. Fab breakfast choice for a really decent price.
Only downfall is there was no hand-soap in room which is a basic for hygiene reasons or other toiletries besides earplugs and shower caps. As we live relatively locally and only staying for one night we only took bare essentials expecting toiletries to be in room.

The hotel is located in the centre of Stornoway which is very handy. However, it also makes it very noisy as the road outside the hotel is very popular with boy racers and their noisy cars. The ear plugs in the bathroom are probably there for a very good reason.
The hotel reception area is nice with restaurant, bar and residents lounge. However, covid restrictions means it is busy and booking the restaurant is essential as it also swems to be popular with locals.
Service can be varied especially if you have to eat in the lounge bar as we has to one night. It was a full 10 minutes before anyone took our order and we got the feeling nobody was sure who should be serving us.
Meals were good with generous portions.
Bedrooms were small and, due to covid, not cleaned every day. Shower must be the smallest one I've ever been in.
Lastly, it is strange that every shop is closed on a Sunday aa they strictly observe the sabbath but the pubs are open all day. There is a pub across the road from the hotel and it can be very noisy at closing time.

We arrived late in the evening off the ferry from Ullapool and a very short distance away we found the Crown Inn. We received a warm welcome and were given our rooms. The rooms are clean and comfortable and of a good standard. We had booked breakfast and it was excellent value for money, there was an excellent choice and it made a change from the usual cooked breakfast, however this was an option if you preferred. Probably the best breakfast we had while spending 9 nights in Scotland. Stornoway isn't large, however the hotel was centrally located and free cark parking was available just around the corner and the ferry is just across the road. Would happily return.

Booked hotel as working on the island.
Close to port (walking distance) which is ideal and located in the town centre.
Hotel looks nice and plenty of cleaning facilities and screens regarding covid.
Check in easy and room although small is fit for purpose, stayed in single room which comprises of single bed, tv, tea and coffee facilities, hairdryer and small but modern bathroom.
Single bed not the best to be honest and if you move at all in bed its really noisy and could do with being replaced, its room 12 so not sure if any of the othera are any better.
The rest of the room is fine and it was just somewhere for me to rest after working all day.
Had booked for five nights from the sunday until the friday and come the wednesday the room hadnt been cleaned or even visited by the housekeeping staff and on the wednesday morning i informed receptionist that room needed cleaned, fresh towels, bins emptied which he duly wrote in the housekeeping diary, wednesday night return to hotel and room still not visited, upon speaking to reception i was informed that room would only be cleaned after 5 days as this was the hotela guidlinea during covid.
He checked housekeeping diary and it had been noted down that a request to clean the room had not been carried out as requested.
Dissapointing to say the least so if your staying and want room cleaned you will need to make a point of repeated requests as theres no guarantee it will be done.
Apart from that hotel was ok and staff nice, just get the room cleaning sorted!

We were in Lewis for our friends wedding a few weeks ago. Given the current Covid situation, we were put through the wringer in the run-up to the wedding. Our flight from Edinburgh was cancelled as Loganair changed the schedule and our accommodation and restaurant booking both cancelled as we were more than one household.
We contacted the Crown hotel in the hope that we could find somewhere for our small wedding party (5 people) to be able to stay under one roof and eat together.
The staff at the Crown were absolutely superb and literally saved the day.
The rooms were made available early so three of us (including one of the brides) could get ready. Would we like some breakfast rolls? Tea/coffee/prosecco? What about a packed lunch - the wedding ceremony wasn't until 3. All great ideas that we hadn't even thought of.
A packed lunch was ordered for the larger party of 10 who would be attending the beach wedding in Harris. It was all left ready for us at reception. The sandwiches were all delicious.
The five of us staying thoroughly enjoyed our evening meal in the hotel. Again the staff were really welcoming and helpful and generally just pleased to be a part of our big day. And they even gave the happy couple a bottle of Harris gin to take away.
We cannot thank them enough and will definitely stay there again when we return to Lewis.

I had seen recommendations for the Crown Inn for gluten free and great to see the menu clearly marked. We had dinner here while in Stornoway, venison burger and chips and cheesecake. Food tasted great, staff were friendly and happy to check about cross contamination for chips, for which I was so grateful. Nicely spread out restaurant for covid restrictions.

After a friendly check in my stay got off to a bad start. The light in my room was faulty, the desk was too low to get my legs under to work, and the smell coming from the drains in the bathroom was unbearable.
I went down to tell reception and Euan (duty manager?) totally turned the situation around. I was offered a better room, and it was explained that at exceptionally high tides (which it was) the drains in some rooms can sometimes smell - but it’s exceptional. Euan agreed the desks are too low so he set up a work station for me in a private lounge area. OUTSTANDING SERVICE!
I ate both dinner and lunch the next day, vegan pizza one day, and spicy vegan burger the next. Both were excellent.
ALL the staff were brilliant. The rooms were clean, beds super-comfortable, but the room furniture is looking a little tired. Room price is on the high side compared to mainland, but average for the islands.
VERY dog-friendly, not just dog tolerant as a lot of places are.
I felt very ‘at home’ here and would not hesitate to return.

One night stay before the early ferry the next day, did the job and there was nothing particularly wrong with the accommodation it just felt average. The room had a funny smell when we first entered and the bathroom was very small. Staff were nice and it is in a very convenient location for the ferry. There is no parking to this hotel however there is a pay and display car park across the road which is free after 6pm.

Having eaten here during our visit last year, we returned - twice - this year and both times were really pleased with the food.

There's a decent amount of options, including for vegetarians, and although on the first visit the two veggie burgers weren't available they did have another (homemade) alternative which was very tasty. Portion sizes are generous, and be warned that if you're having the Pizza they are absolutely huge! Neither of us could finish ours, which was in no way a reflection of the quality.

All the staff we encountered were very friendly and it was easy to book a table, which we were glad we'd done as it was busy both days. They also still have Track & Trace as well as a one way system, and mask use enforced inside.

Really nice food, large portions, good value for money, and a nice view out on to the harbour. We would recommend.

A small room with old furniture, but spotlessly clean. Bed is comfy. Shower room good. The main issue for me was the music from the bar and the noise from the street .... but then it was Saturday night. The hotel supplied earplugs along with the toiletries!! Pleasant staff.
