Having had many visits to this hotel over a number of years (I have had many via buisness, which turned into a pleasure).Hence my review is worthy! I have watched this prime located, well managed hotel grow too what it is today with friendly, helpful, efficient, dedicated, welcoming staff on the basis of clean, well kept, heated(important in Scotland in winter season) and... The bathroom was very small and the toilet did not flush very well.i also got trapped in the shower for 5 minutes as... More

As a native of the island I know the hotel's café bar, HS1, very well and can wholeheartedly recommend it for friendly service and very tasty food. As for the hotel accommodation I have somewhat mixed feelings. Our welcome was warm, with the delicious breakfast served by genuinely warm and smiley staff, big thumbs up there! Of the rooms: on... Stayed here for one Saturday night on our Island hopping trip as we were getting the ferry back to the mainland the next day. When we checked in the staff asked us if we were eating with them that night as we would need to book there and then as it gets very busy at the weekend. We decided we... More

The Royal Hotel Stornaway looks out over a picturesque marina and has a clear view of Lews Castle. Situated in Stornaway's town centre, we were close to amenities and local attractions. The hotel and restaurant staff were engaging and always pleased to be of assistance. The rooms were delightful and beds comfortable, a perfect place to rest after an active... More

Nice clean rooms, public areas appear recently renovated. However no lounge area - a problem on a wet Sunday when everything is shut. Restaurant service painfully slow at times - the 2 staff on for breakfast had no chance of coping with a busy spell. Food quality good. Drinks at bar expensive

We were stuck for accommodation in Stornoway, other options having fallen through, and having spent one night in a different place - not reviewed - in this town. But we got a lucky cancellation for two nights and were really happy with the outcome. Friendly, helpful staff at reception, a large and comfortable double room; well-located in the centre of... This hotel is full of comfortable character and is tastefully set out. We had a room overlooking the inlet and it was beautifully equipped. The best hotel room we have had in a long time. there are two restaurants both comfortable and serving fresh and succulent meals. Reception staff so friendly and helpful. I loved everything about this hotel .... More

Very good location.... It is near the port of the little island. Everything is clean and tidy. Βut the 3bed was just a 2bed room with a horrible camber. The bathroom needs a renovation. The breakfast was ok but you did not have a big choice.....

I spent just the one night at the hotel and I was staying in a single room. The room was number 22 up on the second floor, in the eaves. It had a sloping roof which would not suit some people and there was not masses of room. However, it was cosy and comfortable. There was a TV and tea... More
