Ann and Gillian provide the best, warmest, hospitality. We were stranded on way to Iona and ended up in Mull b&b heaven 😊. Room was spotless, breakfast was perfect. Amazing hosts. Will go back at the drop of a hat!

2nd visit to Ardness House with my mum and my husband. It really does feel like a home from home. Gillian & her mum make you feel so comfortable and are such lovely people. Wouldn't stay anywhere else on our visits to Mull. Oh and the breakfasts.....delicious and so filling. Thankyou once again Gillian

Gillian and Ann came to our rescue after a previous B&B double booked us and we were stranded through no fault of our own. They did not have to do this as it was not their problem, and they made us feel so welcome even though the very short notice would have inconvenienced them greatly. The rooms were very clean, comfortable and warm with lovely views, the breakfast was perfect and Gillian couldn’t do enough to help us! Thank you so much! We thoroughly recommend this B&B to anyone!

A peaceful haven, ideal for touring the Ross of Mull and Iona. Hosts Gillian and her mum couldn't have been more accommodating, even during their busy lambing season. We were comfortable and cosy, our room spotlessly clean and well provisioned. Breakfasts were hearty for two hungry cyclists and the eggs from their own farm were a delicious treat. A lovely experience.

On our way to a retreat on Iona we were stranded at Fionnphort when wind closed down the ferry. Gillian opened up, after seasonal closing, and rescued my companions and I. She provided a truly memorable evening of warmth and hospitality. Gillian "rustled something up for us" - the best meal we had in Scotland! It included venison from their own farm with vegetables from their garden. She was the most gracious, fun hostess I've ever had in many years of travel. Our room was comfortable and the sitting room was cozy and inviting. We absolutely loved our stay with Gillian, though totally unplanned, and will make special effort to stay with her again. Highest recommendation!

We enjoyed our stay at this lovely family-run place very much! Gillian is a wonderful hosts who keeps her house and the rooms very nice and clean, puts high focus on local food (e.g. eggs from her own hens) and prepares delicious breakfast individually for each guest - both Scottish breakfast (baked beans, toast, bacon, eggs etc.) as well as continental options (several types of cereals, juices, yogurt, milk, jam, fruits, etc.). We even had the chance to try haggis at breakfast once and had black pudding the other day, both really nice. You can feel that Gillian enjoys her job - both hosting and interacting with people as well as trying to make their stay most enjoyable by giving them tips and advice on what to see. We would definitely recommend going to Iona and Staffa (boat trip to see Fingal's cafe and the puffins in June/July) one day! We liked our room a lot (BTW: we paid 100 pounds per night, including breakfast) - it was definitely big enough for us as a couple and the bathroom had nice and modern facilities; hairdryer, some essential toiletries for a night (cotton rounds, cotton buds, shampoo and shower gel) and coffee/tea making facilities were provided in the room, the wardrobe was quite big and we even unpacked our suitcase, which we normally don't do on short stays. Ardness House is a great place in lovely surroundings - with a great view of the coastline from the front windows and lots of sheep in the meadows around the house and the village. One part of the house is the family home and the other part consists of 6 bedrooms for B&B. There's also a cosy lounge visitors can use to sit down and read, have a chat, play cards etc. in the evening - that's also a way to connect with other guests if you wish to. They also offer self-catering apartments, but we haven't tried those. If you have a car (since Ardness House is between the villages of Bunessan and Fionnphort) and love peace and tranquility and still spotlessly clean and pleasant accommodation, we'd recommend this place Our plan was to stay for only one night, but since we liked Ardness House so much, we decided to stay for another day and night - exploring the surroundings and the beautiful island of Mull even more.

From the minute we arrive to the minute we left we were made very welcome. Gillian told us to come and go as we pleased and if we needed anything just to ring her door bell. The accommodation was spotless. The bed was very comfortable we fell asleep watching a movie on my phone. Breakfast was traditional Scottish breakfast with a choice of continental as well. Eggs came straight from the farm. Exceptional local knowledge. Thanks again from fellow west coasters.

A nice view from our room to the sea and the main road. A nice welcome by Gillian, the host. :) We booked a familyroom/doubleroom and paid GBP 120 per night. The room was quite small for us (2 adults + 1 child). We did not have space for our suitcases or large backpacks in the room, so we had to keep them in the car for the whole stay just taking out some of the clothes needed. There was a wardrobe in the room, though, but no shelves (except for very high up) to put things in, and only small drawers in the very small chest of drawers. The room was also very cold (and we are used to cold temperatures from where we live in Norway), and we also realized that the heating in the room was not always possible to turn on. We understand that it is expensive electricity these days, but this was a bit colder than we expected. The curtain was too short for the window, letting sunlight in early in the morning. Could easy be fixed with some new roller blinds. The beds and pillows were just fine. The breakfast was nice with eggs from the farm and possibility to order what you wanted to have. The breakfast was only served at 8 am in the morning, which was a bit early for some of us usually getting up later in the mornings, but we tried to adapt to the routines. The breakfast was served for all guests at the same time, and we sat around a common table. It was nice to talk to the other guests. Wi-fi generally good in the whole house. Much appreciated. Also nice to get the laundry washed and dried while we were there. I have stayed at many B&Bs on Isle of Mull (10++), so I know what to expect in this area. Compared to other B&Bs nearby, I must say that the rooms were quite small here (and more expensive), although there were more rooms in this house than many other B&Bs in the area. The place itself is a bit remote, between Bunessan and Fionnphort, so you should go there by car. All in all an average place to stay, but there are even nicer places to stay in Fionnphort some 10 minutes further to drive. Just be sure to book long time in advance, because the best places are sold out up to 1 year in advance. We were just happy to find a place to stay on the island when we booked only 2 weeks ahead of our visit.

This B&B hosted by Ann MacNeil is very welcoming and friendly! Much of the food for breakfast come fresh that day from the family farm. Each part of the property has great views of the Isle. You can explore the hillside and sea shore right across the road!
