Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Very comfortable family house. There were 7 of us and the house could accommodate about twice as many. Nothing has been left out in equipping the kitchen and dining areas. With the Keel Row pub about 15 mins walk away you don’t need the kitchen much. Great to arrive and find tea bags and coffee provided among other essentials. Mine host is a mine of information about the island and about what’s happening locally.

This was our fourth visit to Achaban House and the experience was just as good if not better than the first time As usual we were met by Matt and Rachel who are always so friendly and helpful finding new places for us to visit and preparing the hot tub for when we return from one of lovely walks Mull is such a beautiful place to visit so peaceful lots of wild life and a super new restaurant The lazy cow to stop for a light lunch or coffee or just sit and take in the view The house itself is beautiful so comfortable warm and clean and nothing is to much trouble for the hosts who will go out of their way to make sure that your stay is special

I have recently spent a wonderful week at Achaban House. It was so relaxing. The house is so comfortable. Everything you need. The kitchen is so well equipped. Even down to a bread maker. There is a lovely view from the lounge window looking towards Loch Pottie. There are some lovely walks near the house, and Matt will always help with suggestions about places of interest to visit. The owners, Matt and Rachel are delightful and so helpful. If you want a holiday to relax and forget the hassle of everyday life, Achaban House is the best place to be.

Matt and Rachel made our Cycle Tour of Mull very special indeed; our organised group stayed two nights. A fantastic location right next to the brand new shared foot and cycle path was a bonus. We were rewarded with beautiful weather, a marsh harrier in the garden and views towards the island of Erriad. Matt provided insight in things to do locally including recommending a trip on Mark Jardine’s Birthe Marie sailing boat, a walk around Erriad and swimming on the lovely beaches in Iona after a visit to the abbey. Matt and Rachel even organised our food for evening meals with delivery from the local hostelry Keel Row. Rachel’s yummy bread in the morning was all the better as it allowed a cheese board lunch en route from Tobermory the next day! All this at a time in 2020 when social distancing, precautions, changing guidelines and cleanliness are so critically important. Thank you both for making our trip to Mull so memorable - we will all be back I am sure of that!!!

What a find - we had a great stay with Matt and Rachel. The room was lovely - twin with en suite, and having the use of the lounge whenever we wanted was great. Good time of year, log fire on! Matt and Rachel were very friendly and helpful. Use of their guest kitchen meant we had ice for our gin too 😀. Definitely will book again.

This was a wonderful place to stay on a wet and windy night in October. Rachel and Matt were excellent hosts. There was a wood fire burning in the spacious sitting room that was supplied with a variety of games, a comfortable bedroom and bathroom and a fantastic kitchen for guests that provides the option for self-catering as well as tea, coffee and toast making.. The breakfast was perfect and the homemade bread was delicious.

In Fionnphort, ideal for the ferry to Iona and boat trips to Staffa, this comfortable and stylish B&B also offers kitchen facilities for self-catering. Home made fresh bread each morning with juices, cereals, cheeses and jams and plenty of tea and coffee are a great start to the day. The breakfast set up encourages guests to share their visits. It was a lovely long weekend and I’m looking for reasons to go back!

This is without doubt one of the best B&Bs we have stayed in. The house is beautifully decorated, comfortable, and run by the most friendly and helpful couple you could ever hope to meet. Matt and Rachel are extremely welcoming, offer useful tips and advice on places to visit, and have maps you can borrow. They are even able to get you local seafood - if available - which you can cook in the spacious guest kitchen. This has a large fridge, freezer, coffee machines, masses of pots, pans, plates, glasses etc.... everything you could need to prepare dinner. A very good continental breakfast is provided, with delicious homemade bread. We definitely intend to return one day. Five stars in every respect.
