This was the last stop on our holiday as we wanted something special and it is certainly that. Even the drive up is spectacular. Stayed in the tower rooms, it was huge over 3 or 4 levels and I've never stayed in a B&B you can get lost in. Had a great game of hide and seek. Weather was shocking and we got soaked walking to coast but it was a lovely walk and made the bath in the stunning view with complimentary whisky even better. You can use the main rooms downstairs too with games rool pool etc whisky library a with roaring fires. You can sample any of 40 +whiskys which was enjoyable. Had a great kitchen which was v useful as eating out a nightmare with covid rules. Very good breakfast and a special end to the holiday
The Castle sits in an enviable position surrounded by a deserted countryside on the northern tip of Mull. Getting here takes roughly 20 minutes from Tobermory along a well laid single track road. It's certainly open to the elements, which we experienced first hand during our stay. The age of the castle does mean some things may not be perfect, in our case the windows did not seal out the gale force winds, and we were forced to use a towel to try to stop the cold air reaching our bed, but with little success. Having got this one negative out of the way, I'll move on to the positives. The room was beautifully appointed, the bathroom huge, with a large walk in shower. Bed superbly comfortable, and deep pile carpets allowed us to walk around barefoot in the evening. Breakfast was freshly cooked and very tasty, and served with COVID protocols in mind. The whole castle is welcoming and tastefully decorated, and I highly recommend a visit, if your pockets allow.…
This is a spectacular place and it was an absolute pleasure to say here. The view alone is incredible. Walking around the estate to see the standing stones and what little is left of Dun Ara castle was one of the highlights of our trip. Our hosts were excellent, friendly and efficient but unobtrusive. The complimentary dram of whisky in the library completes the experience! Great breakfast as well.
Upon arriving by car through fantastically beautiful scenery and terrain and winning the battle of wills against Longhorn cattle that stood in my way the road opened to reveal a beautiful castle in the distance with tomorrow’s dinner grazing peacefully on the grass!! The serenity of the location is amazing and the staff was above and beyond. The rooms are extremely large and comfortable. breakfast was extremely tasty well presented and plentiful. The whisky bar in the evening was most welcome. I could go on and on but this is my first post. I was inspired to make the post by just how great this venue was and I have already booked for next spring. Taxis were easy to come by to visit the town but pre-booking was essential.
We stayed for 4 nights, our room was beautiful, with views across the front of the estate, very comfortable and we had a bathroom with extra views towards the coastal path and side of the estate. Breakfast was excellent with lots of menu choices, all individually prepared. we enjoyed the walks in the estate down to the sea and the coffee shop. If you are looking for a few days escape where the light changes the views throughout the day and the highland cattle and in the road to greet you, this is the place to go. the whole island of mull is beautiful and the pace of life is more relaxed.
