Detailed Reviews
We stayed here in a family room with en-suite. It was a good location and the room was spacious and clean. We had 5 beds (4 of us) so plenty of room and we all slept well. Compared to the price of other hotels it was good value. We met the owner who encouraged the boys to feed the goats and was pleasant to talk to.
The shared kitchen/lounge was a bit off putting, mainly because there were a few who took it over watching TV all night and cooking smelly food. We chose to go into neighbouring Tobermory to eat, but I guess the cooking facilities are good if you are on a budget or have small children.
One downside is you can hear everything as the walls are thin, however we were so tired it didn’t bother us and we were lucky that people weren’t that loud. I had the feeling people were being considerate, even when the football was on there was hardly much noise. BUT if you get a noisy bunch, beware
Essentially the place doesn’t pretend to be anything it’s not. It’s functional. It’s not a hotel and nor does it pretend to be. If you don’t want to share a toilet or shower then get an en-suite room. It’s good value compared to other hotels on mull, but don’t be expecting luxury in any form.

This was the 1st time staying at this type of accommodation & we found it very clean and comfortable, yes some would say basic but they provided towels & hairdryers beds were to our satisfaction. The rest of the accomodation provided was large communal lounge, dinning area and kitchen which provided all matter of utensils, dishes, crockery etc. Its a great place for going out and about and scenery is fantastic, we cant praise Arle lodges enough deffinately be back

Various rooms are available based on one's needs. Quite comfortable, clean, and a great common kitchen with excellent supplies available for a continental breakfast (vegan-friendly!) Plenty of refrigerator space available for one's own groceries. Lovely area outside to cook/eat with absolutely stunning views overlooking Mull. Just a short car ride away from Tobermory and convenient location for access to the rest of the island. Highly recommend!

+1
Beautiful location. Accommodation very basic. Beds uncomfortable and walls very thin. Our room was obviously next to the boiler and we have vibrations in our room every time it was switched on. Though it came with an unsuite but had shared bathroom upstairs and showers downstairs. Social area great with kitchen need another oven 1 isn't enough when all guests are trying to cook there dinner. Signs everywhere telling you not to feed or touch animals and it's a shame as they're right next to you. Main lobby was dirty with cobwebs all over windows . Couldn't find any access to local beach. There's no staff around except in morning and the lady is 1st class , a fountain of knowledge and a hard worker.

If you're happy with geriatric youth hostels, it's fine, otherwise don't expect to be impressed.
The rooms are clean enough, but seemingly constructed from paper; the noise (however unwitting) from other guests is intrusive every morning. Don't ever expect to sleep past 7.00am.
The kitchen facilities are perfectly functional, but if you want anything more than a basic youth hostel environment, you'll be disappointed.

Response from , Owner at Arle Lodge
Responded 12 Dec 2023
Hi there, sorry to hear you felt your room was too small, we have many different sizes of rooms (our biggest being 20 metres square). I shall let my mother in law (the cleaning lady) know about your nice comment. We do have a room on the ground floor that can accommodate a wheelchair, hopefully you might book this next time.

Paper thin walls, slept terribly. Was able to hear other guests going to the toilet, extractor fans going on, shower doors slamming, conversations, farting and snoring etc. fire alarm light above bed lit up the room. Bed linen dated. Looked all over for a room on Mull and this was the only place with a room left so had no choice. Would not stay here again. Sorry.

Mull appears generally expensive when looking for accomodation.Arle lodge is good value and if you like meeting people the communual kitchen and living room are great.Beds comfy.Walls are thin but it's luck if you get snorers next door.Plenty of parking.Friendly staff.Clean.Facilities are a step above a youth hostel.Amazing views with a lovely walk to the beach.Great base to explore Mull from

This really wasn’t a suitable choice to stay whilst working. The walls truly are paper thin. The other residents weren’t quiet and why should they be. It was a very poor choice. It’s also cold and a bit grubby too to be honest

It’s a hostel for old folks and not very clean . Very thin walls. No sleep could hear deep breathing never mind snoring! Wasn’t good and wouldn’t recommend at all. The views are lovely and good parking

From memory there were steps into the property but maybe they have a ramp they could put out? We had rooms on the ground floor but I would say they're definitely not wheelchair friendly as our en-suite was functional but small. I think the car park was loose stones and from it there is a very slight gradient up to the property. Plenty of room in the kitchen/dining area but could get busy in the mornings.
