It was a relief to be able to return to Mull - and Sonas House. It looked like travel was not going to be possible this year and, as it happened, we were very lucky as our trip fell between the end of a local lockdown at home and the introduction of tighter measures in Scotland. Thank you Joanie and John for a lovely stay. Excellent hospitality, accommodation and breakfasts. Spotlessly clean and Covid aware. We were naturally apprehensive about holidaying, but felt very safe, comfortable and welcome. We hope to be back.

We were visiting Mull for the first time and stayed, on recommendation at Sonas House. It did not disappoint! Joanie and John are excellent hosts, very friendly and welcoming. We were slightly anxious about Covid measures, this being our first trip away since lockdown but we were pleasantly surprised by all the safety measures, hand sanitiser on arrival and in the room, our hosts wearing masks when meeting us and serving food, fresh water and biscuits left each day for us to collect. Breakfast was very good with a great choice of food and not forgetting the lovely homemade marmalade and jams! A lovely comfortable place to stay.

A fabulous B & B in a great location high above Tobermory in a quiet and beautiful garden setting. Joanie and John are great hosts; providing such a warm welcome and friendly, relaxed and personal service. Nothing was too much trouble and they were so helpful with suggestions of things to do and places to go. It added to our enjoyment to have the benefit of their local knowledge and obvious love of this special island. We both fell for Mull's spectacular and stunning scenery and places. We had the Blue Poppy room and loved it - very stylish, great views, spacious, light, beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean and so very comfortable, with a luxury en-suite bathroom. A terrific variety of breakfast options - all beautifully presented and very tasty. Be sure to have the porridge; oh and the Stornoway black pudding; not to mention the homemade jam and marmalade..! We looked forward to breakfast every day. Joanie is an excellent baker as well, and her shortbread was a daily highlight. This is the only B & B we have ever experienced with a swimming pool and we happily made good use of it one wet afternoon. Very luxurious indeed. We would heartily recommend Sonas House. We only hope that we can secure a room next time we are in Tobermory! Thank you so much to our terrific hosts. p.s. It is worth advising visitors to Tobermory that all the restaurants are justifiably popular and busy in the evenings. It is therefore worth some advance planning and booking. Availability has sadly been reduced very recently by the devastating fire at the MacGochans pub and restaurant.

Probably the best guesthouse we've stayed in. A nicely extended modern house set on the hillside with two identical octagonal shaped twin/double rooms. Ground floor has terrace access, we chose the first floor with balcony. This had the better views and if you're lucky with weather and midges then sitting on that balcony gazing at the Sound of Mull is pretty special. Both rooms are light with decent storage, pleasant bathroom and even a mini fridge with fresh milk for your cuppas. The bed was comfy for my dodgy back which is rare. Outside the bedrooms there's a breakfast room with settee and various pamphlets and books covering local attractions, walks boat trips etc. We sat here reading up on wet weather options during storm Hector. If that isn't enough there's a swimming pool with separate changing area and shower. This was an absolute joy, wish I could take this on every trip! There's plenty of space at Sonas, everything is clean and well thought out, a refreshing upgrade on cramped older style terraces. Breakfast was excellent, one of the best with plenty of choice. The owners are lovely and helpful yet aren't intrusive in any way. When choosing this place the only possible downside seemed it wasn't quite central, yet the walk down to the harbour was great. Would be less so in rain of course and for anyone who walks with difficulty, however it's a very short drive to the various restaurants and pubs etc so this was never an issue. To summarise, whilst not in the harbour itself, you get space, nice rooms, storage, views, relaxation, great food, great owners, easy parking and a swimming pool! It's easy to forget this isn't a hotel but a bed & breakfast, it is one of those places that's a joy coming back to at the end of the day, can't praise it enough.

What a fantastic place to stay! The location was superb; the house is situated at the top of a hill with fantastic views over Tobermory below. However, you can still reach the shops and pubs with a five -10 minute stroll. The hosts were absolutely wonderful, so friendly and warm to my family. They really made us feel like we belonged there, Breakfasts were incredible with a wide choice including haggis and fresh kippers. The hotel has a lovely indoor heated swimming pool which was just perfect when the weather wasn't! Highly recommended. You couldn't wish for a better place to stay.

Always a magical weekend staying in Sonas House. The rooms are bright, warm & comfortable but it's the view over the garden & sea that sets the house apart from others in Tobermory. There's plenty of space and loads of privacy. Joanie is always incredibly accommodating and an excellent host. A great escape!

We stayed in this grand scale and lovely B&B during the Easter weekend. We could not be happier with the decision! The B&B is just on the hill up to the main Tobermory road which allows the guests to have an amazing views from their rooms. We stayed in the Red Poppy room which was beautifully decorated, with a massive and comfy bed and a modern bathroom, the room also included a lovely patio where breakfast can be served (for those who are luckier than us with the scottish weather). Breakfast was delicious (I firmly recommend the Haddock as was amazingly cooked and one of the freshest fishes I have ever had). The owners were the most friendly and helpful people, we even felt sad when we left even though we just stayed there for 2 nights, they were just so lovely that they made us feel as part of their family. There is a lovely private swimming pool as well which we weren't able to enjoy due to technical issues but we are sure we will go back to this beautiful island and will be staying in Sonas house again.

In our view, it was the best house in the town - a home full of passion with personality to match. Joanie, Laura & family rescued us and opened their door at very short notice (tourist board mix up). They then kept an eye out to make sure we were as comfortable as we could be. We enjoyed pre-festival drinks, got up to speed with the Mull chat, played cops & robbers with the little ones, drank the complimentary Tob dram in a quaich with good chums in the high seas, made a film to showcase hidden talent, cooled champagne & strawberries in the room's fridge, hosted an Indian banquet on our balcony, enjoyed a private breakfast of tea & crisp rolls late morning, disco-kipped in the afternoon and relished some early nights in a beautiful part of the Wild West. We'll be doing everything we can to make staying at Sonas House a yearly pilgrimage.

A welcoming b/b on a rather grand scale. We had the Red Poppy room which was beautifully furnish and in keeping with name, the theme was Red Poppies. We virtually had the place to ourselves, there are only three double letting room, one being a family room. There is quite a large indoor heated swimming pool which you can use at any time, in Scotland where the weather is not too kind at times, this could be an asset. Laura, who took our booking and seems to do everything was a most friendly and helpful person,we therefore enjoyed our stay very much
