Detailed Reviews
My girlfriend and I stayed here for 4 days and wanted to travel across most of Skye and see all the major highlights. The accommodation was modern, spotlessly clean and in a perfect location with most of our locations only a 30 minute drive away. The bedrooms all face out across the sea so whatever room you choose you wake up to a stunning sea view. There is a huge lounge area as well as a large kitchen/dining area perfect for larger families. Excellent WiFi throughout the whole property.

This is one of the best, if not best air b&b’s we have stayed at. We were two families holidaying for the first time in the Isle of Skye and having Luib House as our base made the trip, perfect. Clean, comfortable, spacious with everything we needed. The views from every room were amazing and the hosts were accommodating, friendly and quick to respond to any questions. Luib is a great spot from which to explore Skye, particularly if you want some peace and quiet, away from the throng at Portree. Thank you Gary & Iona for a fantastic stay!

Let me start with a warning: If you want to stay at Luib House B&B (Skye) – and I would recommend that you do – then book directly with the establishment and DO NOT click any links to online travel agencies displayed on the Tripadvisor page. Let me explain:
I found Luib House’s website and liked what I saw, and went to Tripadvisor just to check out the reviews, which were great. I saw a link to ‘Best Prices’ and ‘View Deal’ and clicked the link to Agoda. Big mistake. I was taken to a booking page for what I assumed was Luib House – but the link had taken me to Luib Hotel, at Killin, a completely different hotel over 100 miles away. I didn’t notice the mistake and booked my stay for two nights last week.
I arrived at Luib House to claim my room, and the proprietor, Marilyn, looked at my confirmation printout and said “Oh no! Not again!” and broke the bad news that I did not have a reservation with her, but with a hotel two hours drive away. It seems this has been happening for some time, and she’s tried to get the online travel agencies and Tripadvisor to remove the faulty link, but to no avail. Agoda have ignored her messages and phone calls. Tripadvisor say they can’t do anything even though the link is on their webpage.
Anyway: Marilyn couldn’t have been kinder, and I’d really lucked out: she’d just had a cancellation and had a spare room for the first night of my booking. But the second night was a problem. Trying to find a single room on Skye in August if you haven’t pre-booked is almost impossible. But while I was out enjoying a pub meal Marilyn spent two hours phoning every B&B and guesthouse she could think of and eventually found me a place for my second night in the north of Skye. She didn’t have to do that: there was no money in it for her, but she’s just very kind that way.
So, I did get to stay at Luib House B&B (Skye) for one night, and can confirm that it’s a 5-star experience, and the biggest star is Marilyn.
So, take my advice and do stay at Luib House, but don’t use a booking agency: Luib House does not have an affiliation with any of them. As to Agoda, getting a refund from them proved to be a nightmare, and eventually I resorted to using the chargeback facility with my credit card company. I won’t be using OTAs again in a hurry.

We stayed in the family room for 2 nights here, for the money we paid (108 £) we expected something better. The room has a double bed and 2 single beds and not much space to put your stuff. The bathroom is also very small with small sink and shower. The breakfast is ok, we had toast, beans, hashbrown and coffee, again we expected something different! The room has a small tv but that is not a big concern for us. The wifi is very slow and hardly usable. The best bits are the view from the room and weather! Mind you there is nothing terribly wrong or spectacularly great, just an average expensive b&b in spectacular and beautiful Isle of Skye

The Luib house was one of the most impressively done properties we stayed in Scotland. Its very neatly done with all modern amenities. You also get in-room tea maker and biscuits in plenty. It also has a great lounge area with many books and dvds.
The host is a very warm and gentle lady who made sure to look after all our comforts. Guests can even use her kitchen to prepare their own meals! We really appreciated that as we were too tired to go out and look for food.
The only drawback of the property is its location. It has a very nice view, however is very far away from any are of human activity - its almost impossible to find a good restaurant/ shopping area nearby.
Also the bathrooms are a little small and cramped for your liking.
Overall, we had a good time and a good night's sleep.

Lovely spot, lovely views, large rooms, spotless clean, warm welcome... Felt like home and Marilyn couldn't be a better hostess. Pity we had booked just one night. If we had known we would have changed our travel plans to stay longer. Both the area and the accommodation were worth it. Stop wasting time... BOOK!!

Marilyn wasn't able to receive me when I arrived but she more than made up for it when I saw her the next morning. Breakfast was absolutely delicious, each and every time. I really liked my room which was spacious and had a wonderful view on the loch and the islands beyond. The extra bonus here is the ability to make your own dinner in the guest kitchen. The location is rather perfect as well since you're not too far away from the mainland and everything is still within a reasonable range to drive. Marilyn is also a great host and even reminded me of my own mother, caring about her guests and always in for a chat! If I visit Skye again, it's Luib House B&B where I'll be staying!

This is a great B&B, we love the place!
If we ever go back tot Skye we absolutly go to Marilyn again. She got great tips to go on the island. And if you are not in the mood for a restaurant you even can use the kitchen.
We had a greet time in Luib's House

We stayed at the Luib bed and breakfast in late August and is one of the best bed and breakfast that we have stayed at, and we’ve stayed a quite a few. Marilyn and Phil who run the b&b have certainly hit the nail on the head with this b&b.
The Isle of Skye is now so easy to get to with access via the bridge at Kyle of Lochalsh and is only 15 miles from the crofting hamlet of Luib. The b&b is very easy to find which is on the main A87 road to Portree, the capital of Skye, after leaving the bridge.
The b&b offers off the road parking for 3 cars and is located next to the house. The welcome given to us was lovely and makes you feel right at home. The b&b has 3 rooms, 1 downstairs and 2 upstairs as well as a kitchen and a lounge. We had the downstairs room which has amazing views across Loch Ainort has all the normal mod cons and is large and comfortable and as its own exclusive separate bathroom located across the corridor opposite the front door. The rooms come complete with excellent guides and information on the island but Marilyn and Phil are always on hand to help if needed.
Each morning you fill out a breakfast card with your selection, the time you wish to eat and you can fill your boots with a local Scottish produce, such as Haggis, Square sausage etc which I recommend as if you go out exploring each day you may not eat until evening.
The nearest town is Broadford which you’ll pass on the way in, and is 6 miles away and has several good restaurants, cafes, a small supermarket and a petrol station, and the capital Portree is 19 miles north. A mile from Portree you’ll pass Aros which is a bookshop, cinema, gift shop, tourist office and the cafe which also has internet access, if you need it. They also have an RSPCA office on hand there who gives a very good tour on the local Sea Eagles.
Isle of Skye is only a small island but packed with so much to do, some of our highlights was the Otter haven at Kylerhea (about 18 miles from Luib), Dunvegan Castle (22 miles from Portree), and the Talisker whisky distillery (about 21 from Luib).
Unless you’re very lucky you’ll struggle to get a signal on the island for you mobile but we did manage to get a signal at Armadale where you can catch a ferry to Malliag which is 23 miles away.
I would highly recommend this B&B to anyone and even though we were only there 4 nights Marilyn and Phil made us feel so welcome and were very friendly and the perfect hosts.

we had a really nice stay at Luib's House. Good value for money. Hosts Marylin and Phillip very kind and friendly. Common kitchen for the guests where you can cook your own food or have some take away like at home. This was really convenient for us as we travel with our baby, who gets easily cranky when we wait for our meal at restaurants at dinner...Very good and generous breakfast. Fantastic location in Skye. The only minor concerns were about the room itself, we had the ground floor one which is not en suite, so it was not practical as we had to go past the entrance hall to go to our bathroom. The other minor issue was about the noise we could ear from the bedroom upstairs, any single step on the floor was very noisy because of the old wooden floor. So we would recommend definitely this charming place, but with a first floor bedroom.
