Refurbished for 2023 our loch-side family-run Bed and Breakfast in Portree provides quality Bed and Breakfast accommodation. Alan and Alex (and Oatie, our very friendly Golden Retriever) look forward to welcoming you to our island home. We adapted our two guest rooms to make them as safe and self-contained as possible following the Covid-19 pandemic - our guests loved the changes. We have refurbished our guests rooms to improve on these adaptations, including a dining space in-room, breakfast service to your bedroom, and others. Additionally we have adapted our check-in/check-out procedures to make them as contact-free as possible. The Macleod's of Fisherfield have lived on this croft for over 150 years. For the last 40 years, and counting, through three generations, our family have offered guests from around the world Highland Hospitality on the same site. An-Airidh is set near the shore of Loch Portree overlooking the bay towards Ben Tianavaig and Raasay; An-Airidh is an excellent base for exploring Skye. 5 minutes walk from the Isle of Skye Candle Company visitor centre and Deli Gasta Portree. 15 minutes walk to centre of Portree. All rooms are en-suite with bath and shower, LED heated mirrors, bedrooms offer flat screen TVs, mini-fridge, microwave, tea & coffee making facilities, free wifi, hairdryers, and stunning views overlooking our old family croft and Loch Portree. There is plenty of free car parking available. The loch in front of An-Airidh is home to seals, and if you are very lucky you might spot otters playing in the garden. Cast your eye over the loch to the hill beyond, called Ben Tianavaig, when you open your bedroom curtains in the morning and you might be lucky enough to spot the neighbouring white-tailed sea-eagles.

This B&B had amazing views. You have your own entrance, the rooms were very clean and comfortable, with beautiful bathroom and wardrobe area. Best bed I’ve slept on. The B&B is Covid safe even to the point that you order your breakfast the night before and it’s brought to your room the next morning and left on a table outside your door by one of the hosts Alan Wilson who always greets you with a smile.
The B&B is run by a fabulous couple Alex & Alan, who have helped make our holiday very memorable, can’t wait until I come back. I have some lovely photos and memories.

Let’s begin with the property itself, it is truly amazing, we had room 6 which overlooks the sea looking out towards Raasay, the room was huge with every mod con there is. At the moment due to Covid Alan and Alex have thought of everything to help with your stay, a fridge with fresh milk, a microwave and crockery if you want to indulge in a takeaway,. The bed was huge but most of all so comfortable, the room was ultra clean with a beautiful en-suite with bath and shower, plenty of room to hang clothes in the double wardrobe, comfy chairs looking out to sea rather than sitting on the bed all evening.

The breakfast was excellent well prepared and hot , at the moment breakfast is served in your room on a table which is a very nice touch in the current climate. Breakfast is served from 0745 but on the Friday we had to leave early to drive to Kyle for 0800 so without being asked Alan made us breakfast for 0630, you cannot get better customer service than that.

So to conclude we cannot recommend this establishment enough, do not stay anywhere else it would be impossible to find somewhere better than this.

Thank you for our wonderful stay in your family home. Hope to see you again soon.

After a couple of attempts we finally endured the long drive and got there. And it was definitely worth it. Right up to the last minute we weren't sure whether we would be able to travel with restrictions in place. Due to that reason we didn't give a great deal of thought about what our accommodation might be like. We booked a few months in advance and never looked at the place again.

So when we opened the door to our room we were amazed. The place was absolutely spotless, plenty big enough for the both of us and the view from our window was the icing on the cake. With a comfy chair each we were in our element.

Breakfast was served in the room. Made to order and delivered bang on time. Loads of choice, fresh, hot food, choice of eggs and i would definitely recommend scrambled- until now I thought only my mum could make the best ones - I am 51! There was a mini fridge and facilities to make hot drinks.

We didn't interact much with our hosts due to the situation but that didn't stop them from being the perfect hosts. They genuinely couldn't have done much more for us.

The walk into Portree took about 15 minutes so a great location.

Would I recommend this place? Absolutely yes!

This was simply a perfect stay. The location was fantastic-right on a main road -east to get in and out, and an easy 10 minute walk into town for the restaurants and pubs. We had a very comfortable king sized bed, a delicious cooked to order breakfast delivered to our room each morning (including the 2 pots of coffee we requested). But the things that really made it standout for us is the view-SPECTACULAR! Of course the golden retriever puppy only added to our enjoyment. And finally, the owner are friendly, welcoming and simply nice guys who have thought of every little thing and delivered on it. A 10 all the way!

We thoroughly enjoyed our two nights at An Airidh. The room was well-appointed and felt quite luxurious yet managed to be cozy and welcoming at the same time. The views over the loch are stunning and the location felt just right to us - a mile or so from the main restaurants and shops of Portree, so close enough to access by foot yet that little bit removed as well. Breakfasts were very good and we liked the "room service" approach they've adopted since the pandemic.

What differentiated An Airidh from other B&Bs for us, though, was how friendly and welcoming the host, Alan, was: his warmth and hospitality really set this B&B above others.

First thing you notice in the room is the amazing view! Next, how clean it is. The bath was literally sparkling. The decor is sutble and fresh. Adds to the relaxing atmosphere.

The bed is the most comfortable thing I have ever slept on. It is both soft and firm at the same time. Big soft and firm pillows too. With all the freah air, and the comfy bed, had best nights sleep I have had in ages.

Room entry is via external door, walk into vestible, makes coming and going much easier. Room includes tea/coffee making facilities, small microwave and small fridge, as well as a large tv. A table to eat breakfast (served on a tray to your door) and some tub chairs to sit in and admire the view.

The B&B is located on the southern edge of Portree, and has off road parking. Town is a very short walk into town. You can also drive, but parking in town can be limited. I loved the location, as it was so quiet and had the view, which would not have been the case if I stayed in town.

What a fantastic B&B, we were made to feel so welcome by our hosts and their knowledge of the Isle really enhanced our stay. Our room had its own entry so it was easy to access, the view onto the Loch was superb.
The room was spotless and had everything we needed, even a microwave had been provided. Due to COVID restrictions breakfast was freshly cooked to order and brought to our room. There was ample food and a great choice of breakfast items. Portree itself is a small village with a Harbour, shops and plenty of places to eat (book in advance). This was my first visit to Scotland and touring around Skye I felt privileged to be able to view all the loveliness here. I will definitely be returning to stay at An-Airidh again. Thank you Alex and Alan for welcoming us to your lovely home and making our stay a brilliant one.

I think the tis is the 4th time we have stayed here. Last time was in 2016. We had room 6 then this time room 7. Both are very comfortable and the view is one we never tire of seeing. Because of Covid 19 check in was done over the phone before we arrived. Our room was open and the key in the room. This time there was no house-keeping, there was a microwave and a fridge and breakfast was delivered to the room if you had ordered any. We opted to eat out this time and we found that it gave us the freedom to have our breakfast anytime. If you needed anything such as more coffee etc all we had to do was text Alan. We didn't meet Alan but it didn't spoil our weekend. Looking forward to our next visit hopefully when the pandemic is over.

We had a fantastic time at An-Airidh Bed & Breakfast, Portree. Our host was welcoming and very friendly. Always available via telephone, and ready to meet and exceed our needs. On the way to our destination the owner phoned us and explained in detail how to get there, how to find our room and key, how and what time the breakfast will be served and where to stop for one of the best coffee in the area and gift shop. At the destination, we were amazed and delighted by the cleanliness and the coziness of our room. It exceeded our expectations. The room is equipped with everything you need to feel exactly like home. And the cherry on the top, you get a delicious and full of choices breakfast served in the room. Isn't that amazing? It definitely won our hearts. Not to mention the spectacular view you get to admire whilst enjoying your food. We were extremely happy with the services and we highly recommend this location to all the people who want to make the most of their journey through the Highlands. We will definitely visit again. Thank you for adding more awe to our trip.

An-Airidh is located just outside of the Portree city center and offers incredible views of the bay from the seaside window in the room. The room also comes equipped with a small refrigerator and microwave as well as plates and eating utensils for enjoying either restaurant takeaway meals or purchasing microwaveable dinners from the local supermarkets. This is a distinct advantage since the the relatively few Portree restaurants get very crowded and are difficult to get dinner reservations. Alan was very friendly and attentive and warmly greeted us when we arrived and after returning from our touring the Trotternish peninsula. Our room was very comfortable and well appointed. We absolutely recommend staying here for anyone planning a visit to the amazing Isle of Skye!
