Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The hotel and experience were very classy. The hotel is in a great location with a view of the bay. Upon entering we were greeted with warm welcomes. Easy check in and help getting us to our room. The room we had was a premium room with seaview. The room had all the amenities needed. The bathroom was very large and had top notch bath products. It was nice to have chairs that were at the window overlooking the bay. We had dinner one night and all food was prepared with great flavour and good portion size. The cocktails were wonderful too. Loved the casual room with the fireplace. Great place to chat to other guests, warm up by the fireplace after being out in the rain all day.

Hotel's Favourite
We spent three nights at the CHH. Room was very comfortable and great view. The staff were very welcoming , friendly and professional, It exceeded my expectations as I thought with the view and being one of the better hotels in Portree they would rest on their laurels. Not one bit, the staff are great , the public areas are so inviting you want to spend time in the them. We hadn't made reservations for dinner as having looked at some reviews it looked as if the restaurant might be a bit average. How wrong was I , we eat dinner here two of our three nights. We are foodies and we agreed both dinners were excellent, really good quality and top service . We had lunch at the Three Chimneys but we felt that the CHH dinners were better. Breakfasts were some of the best we had in Scotland. We had drinks at the bar and also outside when the weather was fine. Great stay, highly recommend. Nothing to fault.

I DIDN’T WANT TO LEAVE! I loved everything about this hotel. From checkin (which was just lovely), to our room (gorgeous view, huge bathroom, amazing bed), to the restaurant and sitting areas… perfection! The hotel is situated close enough to walk town, there are walking paths right out the front door, and driving distance to give you time to see everything Isle of Skye has to offer! The front desk staff could NOT have been more sweet! They answered all of my questions (of which I had many!). The services at the restaurant and bar, as well as housekeeping were so great - you can tell they all really care about the work they do and the service they provide. I loved it so much and cannot wait to go back!!!

Fabulous experience all around. Best views of Portree are from this hotel, it has a gorgeous outdoor seating area that overlooks the boats and water. Our room was fabulous, very clean, spacious, and cozy. I loved the wool curtains they added an extra layer of cozy to the room. Everyone from the person that checked us in to the person that bussed our dishes was outstanding. Amazing food with spectacular views over the water. We ate breakfasts and dinners here during our stay and each one was fabulous. Location was great as well not just for the views, but it was walkable to anything in town like the shops, groceries, or eateries. If you are going to Isle of Skye I highly recommend this hotel. I cannot wait to go back one day!!

We had a huge room and bathroom which had a view over the garden fountain. It had all been newly done so in perfect condition. Massive comfortable bed with plenty of pillows. The food is so good here you do not need to go anywhere else! The service, the views, everything is 5 star.

This hotel is located in a stunning location in Portree and hotel staff couldn't do enough to ensure we had a remarkable stay. The woman at the front desk not only brought us to our room, but helped us to operate the television during our stay, got us whatever extra toiletries we needed, and went to bat with the restaurant staff to ensure we could sit for dinner when they told us they were already full for the night. The meals were fabulous, the bar is convenient and not crazy expensive and the views from the grounds are spectacular. The room was spacious and warm and a glorious retreat from busy and active days touring (and climbing) in Skye.

Beautiful site overlooking the bay. Panoramic view with chairs and tables on lawn for view. Courteous and professional staff meet you every need including a scotch expert to assist you in selecting a favorite malt. Excellent diner with a view as well as traditional scotch breakfast if you want. Upscale rooms with comfortable beds. Indulge yourself.

We spent two nights at the CHH including eating in, and had a wonderful stay. We were looked after so so so well, nothing was too much trouble. Every staff member we spoke to was informative, solved our problem, or made sure we got what we needed. The room was super comfortable, bathroom accessories were lovely (White Company!), and the food in the restaurant was delicious with a priceless view out over the Cuillins. Highly recommended if you want to have a peaceful, relaxing holiday to recharge the batteries this is the place to go!
