I stayed two nights early November while on a tour of the Highlands and Skye. I had a room with a view of the harbor but the view wasn't as great asI expected. Room and bath dated, a bit run down but adequate.

This is a sizable hotel which is in a superb location overlooking Portree harbour. The reception staff were extremely efficient, welcoming and helpful. Our 1st Floor en-suite room was spotlessly clean and comfortable, with an amazing view out over the harbour. There are very good breakfast options and good and very reasonably priced evening meals are also available on site....

I have stayed once in the summer and once now in November. The rooms are spacious, clean and fairly well appointed. The food is pretty good, and not too pricey. The staff are very welcoming and can point you in the direction of any local things you want to know about. My only issue, and it is minor, was that...

We had originally planned to camp on the Isle of Skye but when a storm hit & gale force winds broke our tent we had no other choice but to head into Portree and find refuge. You can imagine the ordeal we had gone through that afternoon and by the time we arrived we were soaked through to the bone,...

Another cold wet day on Skye made nice and warm by the reception from waitress in the dining area. Very helpful lady who tended to our needs and preferences. Can not fault the food, Haggis starter for me and Scottish cheeses for him in doors. Food is very well presented "thanks chef". Main meals arrived hot and with an assortment...

Stayed at The Royal Hotel two nights while visiting Isle of Skye. Good hotel, room very basic but good, basic breakfast and very good dinner at hotel. Was pleasantly surprised with the dinner as not much was open in town when we were there , as we did not get back in town until about 7pm each night. We reluctantly...

We found this hotel round the corner from the square after trying a number of other Bed and Breakfast establishments. Most of them were in darkness or had no vacancy signs up. We appeared to be in an annex of the original building. The decor and furnishings were truly 70's in age but the view from our room was fantastic....

We loved the location and staff of this hotel! Also, it's super close to the grocery store and all the restaurants downtown. The included breakfast here is great as well. Tip: stay in ROOM 16. Great view of the harbor and it appears to be renovated!

Building in good condition. Lovely views of the bay. Easy parking. Accessible room was spacious and well-appointed. Very comfortable bed. Restaurant closed for winter but excellent food in the dining room. Staff friendly and helpful. Glasses instead of plastic beakers in the room would have been nice.

Tired hotel but ok Great location Staff were either friendly or extremely ignorant - we never got greeted on exiting or entering the hotel - it became a bit of a joke to try and get anyone to even acknowledge us! Breakfast was hit & miss. Staff again a little surly but the cooked food was terrible. Sorry to say...

The Royal Hotel is based in the centre of Portree on the stunning Island of Skye. Our hotel has offered as a superb base for customers to the area for over a hundred years. We have a selection of over 34 en suite rooms, most of which feature stunning sea views looking on to Portree Bay. We have two restaurants which regularly sell a variety of local produce from Langoustines, Scallops and Fish to Venison and regular Scottish favourites such as Haggis and Mince and Tatties.
