On the plus side, breakfast was excellent and service courteous. It had a good location and the view over the harbour was nice. Our room, room 10, was well set up for a family with two single beds for the kids and a double for the grown ups. The decor was quite tired despite the high price and the cleanliness...

I stayed here with my husband for 2 nights Hogmany and New Year's night. As others have mentioned, first impressions not good,as the decor is dated and a bit shabby, especially in corridors and stairs. Our room also had the 1970's feel, but was clean, comfortable and had a lovely view over Portree harbour. We ate in the hotel restaurant on Hogmanay as there was a...

We booked this hotel for three nights. However, we were disappointed on arrival. The hotel is a little run down and extremely basic. The receptionist however was helpful and polite. We decided not to stay here and paid a cancellation fee. The staff were professional during the process.

Very nice welcome on our arrival, our room was spacious, the cooked breakfast was tasty with the option of porridge, cereal, smoked fish or a continental breakfast. The restaurant also provides nice meals. Good value for food and drink. Located in the center of town. Worth a visit!

Stayed here for 2 nights and it was a place to rest our heads. The rooms were clean enough, its in a great spot in Portree and the breakfast lady in the morning was really lovely. But otherwise it was a bit rundown and probably needs updating.

I stayed two nights early November while on a tour of the Highlands and Skye. I had a room with a view of the harbor but the view wasn't as great asI expected. Room and bath dated, a bit run down but adequate.

This is a sizable hotel which is in a superb location overlooking Portree harbour. The reception staff were extremely efficient, welcoming and helpful. Our 1st Floor en-suite room was spotlessly clean and comfortable, with an amazing view out over the harbour. There are very good breakfast options and good and very reasonably priced evening meals are also available on site....

I have stayed once in the summer and once now in November. The rooms are spacious, clean and fairly well appointed. The food is pretty good, and not too pricey. The staff are very welcoming and can point you in the direction of any local things you want to know about. My only issue, and it is minor, was that...

We had originally planned to camp on the Isle of Skye but when a storm hit & gale force winds broke our tent we had no other choice but to head into Portree and find refuge. You can imagine the ordeal we had gone through that afternoon and by the time we arrived we were soaked through to the bone,...

Another cold wet day on Skye made nice and warm by the reception from waitress in the dining area. Very helpful lady who tended to our needs and preferences. Can not fault the food, Haggis starter for me and Scottish cheeses for him in doors. Food is very well presented "thanks chef". Main meals arrived hot and with an assortment...

The Royal Hotel is based in the centre of Portree on the stunning Island of Skye. Our hotel has offered as a superb base for customers to the area for over a hundred years. We have a selection of over 34 en suite rooms, most of which feature stunning sea views looking on to Portree Bay. We have two restaurants which regularly sell a variety of local produce from Langoustines, Scallops and Fish to Venison and regular Scottish favourites such as Haggis and Mince and Tatties. Our hotel bar "MacNab's Inn" was famously the location where Bonnie Prince Charlie bode farewell to Flora Macdonald before making his way to France escaping the English army.
